Hi, installed today.

I'm getting a 404 error and then it tries to load it again and repeats this.

Uploaded and installed twice. Hoping to get lucking. :) Folder permission set to 777. Though I was surprised it stuck. Host usually only allows 755.

Forum is here http://cebuforum.org

Thanks for the help,

Rusty

Hi, why you not add template for mobile style? :)
i love it

Hello,
anyone got a problem with refreshing shoutbox? I've got installed this shoutbox for long time and after 4.2.0 it's not refreshing automatically.
Thanks

Same here, just upgraded vB from 4.1.8 to 4.2PL2 and upgraded vBShout from 5.4.8 to the latest and the chat box won't load any text at all.

All the old messages and anything new typed in shows in the archive but the chat box just sits there with "Loading...." at the top but never loads.

Please ensure you've upload the complete contents of the upload folder exactly as-is to your forum folder.

Because mobile phones don't necessarily handle heavy AJAX-based apps like Shoutboxes properly :)

Please revert any customised templates for the Shoutbox. If that does not help, please check Firefox' error console.

OK, didn't notice the updated template message in admin after upgrading vBShout.

All good once I reverted it.

Thanks,

I can't revent any templete. I never changed any template at all.

Marcin147 06-22-2012 03:44 PM

Great mod but it doesn't work with polish characters :/

RustyF 06-22-2012 05:48 PM

Thanks Coder, I've done that three times now. :)

My mod and admin CP have different names but now I uploaded that directory as well and still left it in my renamed control panels.

I looked back over previous issues and saw that always fixed it, some file missing.

The first time I tried to install it I did miss one of the files and during the install, I got an error message indicating a file was not found. I think it was the file for the modcp.

I'm going to do it one more time. Easy to click on the wrong folder, I just did. :) If you don't hear that I got it working, I didn't.

tareqbd 06-22-2012 08:40 PM

i had installed it, its say only Loading...... what to do. I have searched over internet much.. but i cannot find a help on this. please find me a solution.

What does the error console say? I also requested you check Firefox' error console :)

We have no issues with polish or any other characters on our live forum, but there is an issue where if you're using utf-8 character set in your Language Settings but non-utf8 in your database, this may corrupt some characters.

I'm getting an error 200 parse error... any ideas what could be happening? The shoutbox only had a post or two...

DragonByte Tech 06-26-2012 12:33 PM

Could you please post the 2 shouts that have been posted?

Fillip

itzkr0me 06-26-2012 02:51 PM

I had pruned it... and of course it's not happening at the moment... I'm sure it will shortly, so when it does, I'll post the shouts, thanks for the quick reply!

itzkr0me 06-26-2012 03:57 PM

now, I'll let it sit
<img src="images/smilies/woohoo.gif">
of course this mother won't fail now...
FAIL MOTHER OF ALL SH**BOXES = FAIL
hooah, testing!
Testing the shoutbox again
The Shoutbox has just been pruned!

Please excuse the language :)

itzkr0me 06-26-2012 04:18 PM

I did hear that everytime a single users posts in the shoutbox, it causes the parse error... this makes some sense as I'm able to post fine, and when this user tries, it throws that error... he's not typing anything crazy, just normal text. But that could just be coincidence.

Hmm....

JammerOne 06-27-2012 01:08 PM

mine always LOADING and after ERROR 500

see this ..

You need to ensure you've uploaded the contents of the upload folder exactly as-is, and followed the instructions in the readme.txt file :)

I have all the files uploaded, box shows up on the forum page, but I cannot get any of the admin cp options work even though they all show up in the drop down.. all I get is a window popping up that says "invalid action" when I click on one of them.

Any ideas?

DragonByte Tech 07-02-2012 07:21 PM

Please upload the contents of the upload folder to your forum folder :)

I got you. One thing that I failed to mention is that I upgraded from 2.5 so a lot of the folders prexisted so I went through some moving processes when I'd get fail messages while the plugin was installing.

I'll go back and check that the admin files are in the forum directory. Thank You.

DragonByte Tech 07-02-2012 07:35 PM

Ohh, in that case remember to also perform the steps in the Upgrade Notes files found in the zip. That should resolve it for you :)

The Pro version has a Detach feature :)

The input area works off of two StyleVars:
input_background and control_focus_background. The first is before the user selected the input area, and the 2nd is while the user is typing.

The actual shouts' background area works off of the postbit_background StyleVar.

Hope that helps :)

I feel like a fool here.......I've played with this a ton, I've got it in the nav and visible on all pages, the default viewing just on the forum page.....

But what I'm trying to do and have been searching for 2 days and CAN NOT figure out is:

I just want the vBShout box to only show up on the page when users click "New Posts" I cannot figure this out for the life of me......

Any help? I know the code is: {vb:raw show.vbshout_instance1} no issues there, its just getting it to show when the user clicks "New Posts" how the heck do I get it to show ONLY on that one page??

You need to contact your host and have them increase the max_allowed_packet my.cnf variable :)

Please ensure you're not running Suhosin, and try disabling any cache scripts like XCache to see if they are too aggressively caching things :)

No cache scripts are enabled and neither is Suhosin. When I click post it moves on but just doesn't seem to send it to the database

DragonByte Tech 07-12-2012 03:40 PM

Does this happen on any other area of vBulletin?

vBShout v6.0.8
Fix: Fixed UTF-8 issues some people were having in certain scenarios
Change: The mod will now properly close its database connection when returning data

Hey, I just implemented a new style and upgraded the vBShout to the latest version. When typing your message in the area on the left, the background is white and by default, the color of the font is white so you cannot see what you're typing. Is there a way to change the default color of your text to...say...black? Thanks!

That would have to be a styling/CSS issue on your end.
