Whew. Good thing I didn't hehe.

No queries or no way of exporting then re-importing entries as new so that they create threads?

Thanks

hydn 07-10-2009 04:04 PM

Edit: go permissions fix. Would only like to create thread for old entries. Maybe via some sort of re-import?

Hi Andrew, i've looked through this thread but i don't recall seeing this question asked, i have couple of mods (post thank you and Helpful posts) that show a count in the users profile in Statistics, i was wondering is it possible to do the same for LDM? i.e My LDM Uploads: xx My LDM Downloads: xx

EDIT: im using 2.30

Simon, there's an option to add statistics to the user profile - LDM / admin/ settings / profile_ldmactivity

Is this what you are looking for.

Hi, Andrew, that option is turned on and i see the recent uploads downloads as links in ldm blocks (as i have always done), what i'm talking about is when you go to a persons profiel and you have the tabs Visitors. About me, Statistics...etc, click the statistics and you have a series of lightly outlined boxes showing you "counts" from particular locations, this is where i would like to show
LDM Count
My LDM Downloads: xx
My LDM Uploads: xx

Does that make sense?

EDIT: I'm copying this thread to the 3.8.x version of this thread as i realise i made a mistake where posting.

I've just installed this on my site, and I think it's a fantastic mod. However, no matter how I try I cannot get normal members to see the extra entry attributes than I need them to select when uploading files.

I've trawled through this thread and tried every suggestion I can think of, but only the admin can see/select any of the extra attributes.

It's my first time using this mod, so it's probably something I'm missing...I've tried changing permissions and everything, but it's the only thing now that I can't get to work. :(

Edit:
Oops! my bad...I forgot to select can_edit_entities in the usergroups config!

Glad to hear things are working ok. Yes, there are so many permissions and settings and it can be overwhelming. I'll have to take another look at the presentation.

obmob 10-15-2009 03:48 PM

wow, we have been really silent here... well, after all LDM works really well :D

Now that the new 4.0 was announced, I'm really dissapointed with the new prices and ideas behind... seems they haven't made things easy for mods.

Hope LDM still works with 4.0, there will never be such thing in vB developers mind.

Hope you are all doing fine! :)

This is a great addon, I love it and have been using it for ages. My site is getting popular and I'm getting a lot of bandwidth usage so I'm looking at the bandwidth limit features.

If I set a download allowance for the Unregistered user group, will that apply to ALL unregistered users. Or will each unregistered user get their own allowance?

For example, if I set a daily limit of 100Mb and one unregistered user downloads a 100Mb file, will the next unregistered user be able to download?

Thanks in advance!

If everything is working correctly (which I hope is true ;)), allowances for registered users apply to the username but allowances for unregistered users to the IP address. So, one unregistered user will not affect another unless they happen to be using the same computer/accidently share the same IP address.

A side effect is that unregistered users can get themselves a new allowance by going to a new computer, but we felt this was an acceptable compromise. (The other side effect, which is that registered users can get a new allowance by signing up for multiple accounts, can be partially prevented by selecting the 'Count all accesses from user's IP address against that user's allowances' box on the allowances admin page.)

chickendippers 10-29-2009 09:47 AM

That's great news. Thank you very much for the fast response.

I must say your documentation is incredibly detailed and has answered all my questions apart from this one.

Thanks again!

obmob 11-02-2009 02:24 PM

Those allowances apply 100mb per IP address, not just for one unregistered user.

I *hope* to do so :). I have bought licences for the new forum + CMs software and am currently trying to get me head around how things work. The upgrade will probably not be a very quick process, however - quite important bits of the infrastructure have changed.

Good news! Thank you Andrew!

Good to hear about a 4.0 update too.

OMG! You are the man Andrew! :D
Well, I did download the new beta, this week i'll make first attemp to upgrade locally.

thanks

Is it possible to add some sort of hard coded limitation on download speed to the downloads perhaps by using fread() - I dont mind modifying a couple of lines of code and slowing things down for all users if I have to however I host massive files and it would be an ideal situation to be able to slow everyone to 300kps tops during peak. I don't know much about coding sadly however my guess is that if the amount for speed is set as a variable X then fread's speed beinf that variable that was set means the speed can be changed on the fly by just either changing a config file or an entry in the relevant download file itself.

Anyway - my question really should be, how do I do this, where do I put it and thanks :)

Edit, bonus question - is there also way to display the last 50 people who downloaded and what it is that they downloaded - then I could have that on the front page of the download system.

The first of these should be possible, but I will have to investigate. LDM uses two different ways of transferring downloads to the user - normally using the so-called cURL library, and alternatively using fread() calls. Although cURL itself will handle speed limits, this is not made available via the php interface, so it will be necessary to go the fread() approach.

The answer to the second question is again, 'yes'. This should be a fairly straightforward piece of coding. I will investigate.

They didn't give you a free copy!!! After all your hard work and all the customer that you got for them. I personally bought vB just for your hack and I may be willing to upgrade only if it possible to make LDM work with vB 4.0.

Thanks again for LDM AndrewD and I hope you are feeling better now.

MySQL Version :

Do you have any idea what could cause this?

I can see that there's an obvious problem with the SQL - characters that should be commas are being transferred as %2C, which is the html escape sequence for commas. I've no idea why that should be. It looks like you are doing a search which is restricted to certain categories - I can't reproduce your problem.

Which version of LDM are you using and exactly what is the command which is triggering the error?

Alfa1 12-03-2009 11:36 PM

I'm using 2.3.0

I'm not sure what command is triggering the error. How can I find out?

I've uploaded a new version of LDM - see https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showpost....&postcount=163

Please let me know if this resolves the problem.

Alfa1 12-06-2009 01:46 PM

I have installed the new version and can not reproduce the bug anymore.

Thank you.

Thanks AndrewD - I have been using the mod now for a while and have finally gotten to grips with making it look and feel the way I want so this sort of speed limitation system will really put the icing on the cake!

Not sure - never seen this before. Does this only happen with LDM and with all its pages, or with specific pages. Does it happen with all browsers?

Have you tried going to the main vb admincp and unsetting GZIP HTML Output?

chet 02-04-2010 08:46 PM

Its just LDM, I will try your suggestion and see what happens

Cheers

Gzip worked but now getting

Warning: uksort() [function.uksort.php]: Array was modified by the user comparison function in [path]\includes\local_links_include.php on line 1227

This is caused by different error handling in the latest version of php. I've posted a fix here: https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showpost....&postcount=238 and will update the releases when I've got reliable internet services again.

I suspect that the content encoding problem may also be related to php version, so will investigate.

Hi Andrew. Is it possible to get new entries in the LDM and few more stats in the vBAdvanced CMPS box? That way I can show our members the latest downloads available.

Regards,

RB

Have you checked out the LDM vbadvanced modules in the /release/vba_modules directory of the zip file?

Hi Andrew, Thanks. It worked. But I'm having another issue. When I enable one of the VBA module (for example New Downloads), it shows in all the forums but one of the restricted access forum is giving HTTP 500 error (The web page is not loading). Is is a common issue? How can I resolve this?

I'm using LDM 2.2.9.

Andrew has passed away on April 22nd after a long illness.
His obituary can be found here:
http://www.eirma.org/activities/Obituary.pdf

It has always been my impression that LDM was a work of art that Andrew devoted a substantial amount of time/years to. He was quite dedicated to the creation and development of LDM.

This version and the 3.8 version of LDM are marked as reusable code. This means that any coder can take up this project and prevent LDM going to waste. It would be a shame that after all the years of work and dedication Andrew has put into it, it could no longer be used.

It remains to be seen how long this version of LDM keeps working, after new vbulletin versions are released.
