"REMOVE ADVERTISEMENTS"

I know its been discussed before, but can someone please provide a more detailed step by step on how exactly to remove the link. I'm not as good as you guys are with the computer. Thanks for your patience and understanding.

It's obvious you haven't bothered to look at RedRyder's explanation of how to remove that a number of times in this thread. It doesn't get easier or simpler. Look it up. Just go back a page or 2 and you'll find it. :rolleyes:

what's happening with us that are stuck with not being able to run 4.01.... I've still got the menu added to my forum, but it's contents are blank...

No, YOU don't know. I wish people would quit asking the same questions over and over without even the slightest research. The answer to your question has been answered several times by the developer and even more by other members. It's a very simple operation, but if you can't take the time to even read the last few days of posts in this thread, then you deserve what you got.

I read the < removed > post about how to remove it. I don't understand it completely, and I'm afraid to start modifying things unless its a little more clear to me. I spent hours researching it and decided I'd like some help, possibly more clear instructions. I'm new to this and trying to learn. < removed >

Where exactly do I "Look for" that code? I'd like more clear and detailed instructions on what to click on and how to do this.

I needed the same thing. Here is what I did. Go to the language and phrase manager. Find the adintegrate_remove_ads. Mine was on the second page of choices. Click the 'edit' button next to it. Then simply put a blank space in the text box with your space bar, and save. That simple. I just did it and it worked for me. Removed it completely. Hope that helps. :)

Now I just need to find out how to get my ad banner to show. I am still just getting the little white box with the colored shapes in it. The banner wont appear. I have tried every combination of my image path I can think of. Even the http://mysite.org/forum/images/banner/imagename.jpg path to no avail. Got the ads to show. Thanks for the help. Can I ask one more question? If I want the users to be able to click on the banner ad that is up and have it take you to their site, is there a special way/order I need to enter the a href information? Right before or right after the src info? Thanks

obviously replace www.???.com with the web site you are trying to point to...

Excellent. Thanks. I changed alt="heading of Ad" to alt="Edens Gate Corals" so the site name is what shows when you hover over the ad. Thanks for the help.

Is there a quick fix to get the header ads to center on the page instead of being on the left side? Also, I'd like the link when you click the ads to open in a new window. Sorry for all the questions.

Uploading the Language file doesn't seem to work. Keep getting the error "Invalid file specified"

To get the top add to center, replace the code in your "header" template with:

<div align="center">$header_advertisement</div>

To open up a new window, add in 'target = "_blank" ' to the code as follows:

It's a conflict with the links and downloads manager modification. I don't know if the problem is with his modification or mine, but he did say he would solve the conflict in his next release.

Just installed 4.02 and i'm now getting the following at the top of my showthread.php pages???

I have disabled the postbit adverts for the time being. :)

I'm sure there's an incredibly simple fix for this, as I've been using vB Ad Management 4 for a while now without any problems.

We downloaded a new Christmas style, so we could appear festive and give our forum a new look for a couple of weeks.

The problem is, the ads that appeared on our old style no longer appear on our new style! It's almost as if the new style hasn't been told about vB Ad Management 4.

We then downloaded and installed the latest version of vB Ad Management 4, which still works fine in our old style, but we just can't seem to get it working with the new Christmas style.

I'm sure there's something we've forgotten to do when we installed the new style, but can't work out what it is.

Can anyone help???

Can vbadmgt work with .swf files? If so, can somebody put up the syntax so I can place ads on my forum?

ok, this is getting annoying. I've just downloaded 4.02 and tried up upload to my bb...

I'm still getting a white menu for all the vbadmgt options, nothing at all.

Can somebody please help, have anybody out there managed to get over this?

is it something to do with the advertisement.php script, where should this live? Does it go straight in the forum root folder?

When I enable the advertisments on the global settings page, my website will not display at all. When I disable it, my website will then display again. What could be causing this issue?

Can people please read the prior posts or search the thread before posting questions? Red does an amazing job providing this mod and the more you pester him with the same questions, the less time he has to continue to improve and expand the product.

BUG:

Installed 4.0.2 and now are no Postbit Ads are shown anymore.

The Bug in Postbit where the Ads are only displayed on the first Page of a Thread is not fixed - now it does not work anymore.

I cannot reproduce either of these bugs on my test forum, it seems to be working fine. Could you try reuploading ALL the files in the changed package instead of just the changed ones.

If you're using manual template edits and the Xmas style is not set to inherit changes from parent styles then you will need to make the template edits in that style as well.

Unfortunately I can only understand English. :( I'm not sure a translation would be enough, but if anyone gets it in English I'll deal with it.

15 Minutes is too agressiv ...and some of my announcers only order 1 Banner per USer PEr day.

I do think that. :) There's a few reasons why I made the change.

1) It is more flexible this way. Before it was a case of "Remove advertisements" link on or off. Now it can be customised to suit any member of the forum on any page, in any ad location, with any text and any link location.

2) It is more efficient this way. Before, there were two options: Link and link text. When displaying this, the code checked both options on every page load to see what to do. Now it checks nothing at all, because it's a phrase. It's not much of course, but it all helps.

3) It points to register.php on the basis that a) It's a page that I know every forum will have, so I can be sure it will go somewhere and b) by far the most common use of advertisements is to display them to guests, encouraging them to register so they won't see advertisements and can join in with the forum.

4) There is almost no difference other than the text and link must be changed with the phrase manager instead of the global settings. Deleting it from all the templates entirely can also be done all at once using the template search and replace feature.

Hope that explains why I decided to make the change. I put a lot of thought into how the product is made, believe it or not. ;)

One problem I'm seeing with 4.02 is that the right hand column used to sit below the header advert, now it sits to the right of it.

Any ideas on how to fix?
