Why do you want guests to play your arcade games? It will waste your bandwidth. And look at the arcade as a feature, where users have to register to play it.

Tomale 08-12-2006 10:57 PM

My site contains educational games. I want any student in the world to play it without having to register.

Can anyone help?

True, but if someone signs up just to play the arcade then they waste your bandwidth and a little database space.

Hi,

Is there anyway to tick all these boxes/set as default for all members?

Thank you for any help :)

Ok, after searching and searching this thread, I was not able to find a fix to solve the problem of the arcade not sending email notifications or pm when someone beats anoter members highscore...

there is a post that redirects you to the v3arcade.com website for the fix, but well, the website is down...

would someone mind posting the fix here?

Phooey 08-14-2006 01:48 PM

Can anyone personally confirm that v3arcade 1.6 is fully compatable with vB3.6? The only other hack I have that affects the arcade is the Leader Board and I'd like to keep it, but arcade functionality is most important.

bang 08-14-2006 03:54 PM

any news from John on 1.1.0? It was supposed to be released months ago, John even had a release date all set, but then he pretty much just ripped us off by closing everything down.

PollyTX 08-14-2006 03:59 PM

I have installed this on our site, and it is wonderful, but I can't figure out how the Arcade Awards show in the postbit/profile? I have checked it to show in the admin cp but it's not showing people's awards in their profiles. Any clue as to where I went wrong? Thanks!! :)

Polo 08-15-2006 02:10 AM

awesome, just what I needed :) yesterday I looked for about 3 hours for this... right now I was just browsing the thread and i found it lol :)

I don't think he "ripped us off". I agree the release is very very overdue but consindering it's a free product made on his own time, he's entitled to release whatever he likes whenever he likes with no obligation.

Having said that, it would be nice if he'd pop into the thread and at least update everyone, even if it's to say "I'm not bothering anymore"

Thats the thing its not free alot buyed it, i buyed it to have full fast support, copyright remove and downloading of betas.

So yet again we have been ripped off. The full i'm working on this and that and you get this and that is old and bull.

Looks like yet again i'll have to go back to the other arcade hack.

bang 08-15-2006 07:55 PM

same here, I paid my sub fee which was supposed grant me proper support and access to betas. but then all of a sudden John took off god knows where without so much as a whoopy-daisy. that is what I'd consider a rip off.

rjordan 08-15-2006 09:16 PM

The arcade is free. The branding free license fee was just that. You get to remove the v3arcade banner at the bottom of arcade pages. The other stuff were added benefits to branding free subscribers, but were not part of the fee. Please keep that in mind. Supposedly, those fees ended up being donated to a charity.

With that said, I am not happy with the silence either. I too would like news on a new version and author support for existing versions.

I 2nd that, according to his profile he was active here (at least online) in Aug. So he's been around. An update would be nice.

I'd like to use V3 Arcade on my new site, but lack of anything posted by John, makes that a pipe dream. Going to load IBPro on that site. Possibly switching my main site/arcade over to IBPro this fall if John continues to show his continued silence.

This has been John's tradition. He did the same thing for vb2. He releases a hack and doesn't support it. Move on. Seriously.

Hiya all!

I would be very, very happy if someone knows how to put the awards in memberinfo. I've been searching for a solution for quite some time now, without any luck at all. Also tried to figure out a solution with THIS but it does'nt work for me.
Hope someone, with skills, reply with some good news...

I'm running 3.5.4 with v3 Arcade 1.0.6, and I've doublechecked all tempcode and checked the option in Arcade setting --> "Enable Arcade Awards" that: If enabled, users will have Arcade awards displayed in their postbits and profiles. It work in the Postbit but not in the Profilepage...

Until then...

/Mike

sR Craig 08-23-2006 02:57 PM

Does anyone know how I can make the postbit information for high scores be a drop down box? or maybe just have the icons of the games instead of the icon and the name of the game?

The problem I'm having is people will have 5 or more high scores and it will make their post very long as it renders their postbit info

see here: http://www.straferight.com/forums/sh...79#post2344279

Thanks for all the help fellas!

oh and btw...yes, I edited the code to take out usernames.

JoyB 08-23-2006 03:22 PM

Hi

I'm sorry if this question has already been asked but is this compatible with version 3.6?

Thanks :)

Although I now use IPB, I made showing arcade champs an option in the control panel. Food for thought...

Anyone have any ideas for fixing my problem found here?

Yes. I am running it and it needed no alterations from the 3.5.4 version.

The v3 Arcade support center has always been available, but a few hours ago I discovered that mail piping is completely broken - so if you haven't received a reply to a support message, please resubmit it via the web interface here: http://www.v3arcade.com/support/

Also, if you've ever sent in a message via email and didn't get a reply, that's probably why. If you submit a message to the web support system and reply to the email you get back, it doesn't seem to get added to the ticket. I'm working on getting it fixed, but in the meantime keep on replying via the web interface.

Heh, yep. Sorry I don't check this thread very often. :(

Someone told me that some people were getting angry about the lack of support people were getting, which I found surprising - since every few days myself (and a friend) would check the support center for tickets. We always answered them, and no-one should ever have had to wait longer than a week for a reply.

So, I checked everything, asked some people some questions, and it seemed that people who were emailing responses weren't ever hearing back from me. It turned out that thanks to an automatic cPanel server update mail piping was hosed - and because tickets were still being created by the web interface, we never realised that something was up.

I'm going to send out a newsletter from v3arcade.com now to let people know what's going on. Hopefully the powers that be can set up a forum for v3 Arcade support here on vbulletin.org, so we can do away with the support center.
