thanks! really appreciate it!

Is there any way to allow users to set or keep a default font and/or colour for the chatbox? they're complaining that they have to set the font and colour each time they submit a message.

Thanks

Can you try the following product update ?

I have not tested it but it should fix the bug.

Please once installed test that the chatbox display in forumhome, forumdisplay and showthread still works and doesn't fire any error. And also test the chatbox display on all pages.

If that fixes it I will release it officially.

forum seems to be good now except this announcement but the rest still bugged with this error testet in Mozilla Firefox 3 and IE 7

With this product you still have the errors ??

You shouldn't have any of those errors anymore.

Have you select the chatbox to be displayed on all the pages ? If yes then I think you might have a customized chatbox template that you need to revert.

Greetings.

There is an "unclosed" Code in the german Version of mgc_cb_evo_cmd_del.xml.

Here is the fixed one.

2/ Upload the content of the "Images" directory in each of your forum styles directories
3/ Import the MGC Chatbox Evo product
4/ Go in your admincp, in the Language manager > Download/Upload language file and then :
- Select the language file from the "Lang" directory
- Select the forum language to overwrite
- Set the ignore language verison to Yes
- Launch upload

You have to set usergroups permissions.

This is not a "Launch upload" button of any sort. It's an import language button I think.

Depends of your chatbox usage needs :)

Hello I have an important suggestion. Some of my users don't refresh the page and stay on the shout box. The appear offline, but they are in the shout box chatting. It would be nice, if those users not refreshing the main index page, but refreshing the shout box page would show up on line. I though it was a bug, but vbulletin told me it was an issue on your side

ramu@123 07-09-2008 09:56 PM

Anyone can help, to understand what is the difference b/w flashchat, MGC chat box, Cyb Chat box and AddonChat(Free version) ?

I think I know what you mean. I'll be in the chat... But tabbed (meaning more then 1 browswer tab) and on another site. I'll click back to the tab and I'm not listed. It's more an ajax thing??? (VBdev?) or something else. It's also more a feature then a necessity. Yes, it's nice to know who's in it, but who sits there waiting for a s/n to come on to post.

Google ;)

Flashchat uses ajax (I think) and java and flash. It intergrates into forum, it's not officially part of it.

CybChat is good, but lacks features (and no, I'm not saying cuz of mgc)

Addon chat? Never heard of..

MGC - Total intergration into forum.

My advice: Test them all, or find sites that use them. Prior to testing on YOUR forums, backup the forum db..... Always a good practice. Then decide which you and your users like. I've been using the chats for a few years and my personal choice is MGC due to support, updates, and just how it works.

If you would like help installing this on your site, send me a pm. I've helped numerous people get it going.

Just a suggestion, though...
Is there a way to limit the consecutive messages a member/chatter could post? Like he/she can only send messages up to 4 times then he/she to have a respond from other members before he/she can continue?

I love this hack and my members do it too... but the thing is, they post consecutively which is like flooding.

you have to add on a the del command. Once you have that installed you can type /del all and it will clear the chat box.

Chat is replying. ie: like consecutive typing. Would you rather less activity, or some crappy moderated something box?

IRC = Consecutive
AIM/Yahoo etc = Consecutive
FlashChat = Consecutive
MGC Chat = Consecutive

ETC ETC ETC. I disagree with your idea 100%. You don't want a chat box, you want a nazi run 1 liner. That's just my thoughts.

@VBDev

Forget the Opera9.5 issue. My mistake (or not), just uninstalled a re-installed and every menu are working fine.

But i have another issue with it. Even tried to install the old versions of the chatbox but none solved the issue. Only the chatbox deactivation solved it. The issue is with the (general) PM pop-up, and in IE shows the yellow warning triangule (see attach). When a PM is received the pop-up doesn't show. Any idea?

Edit: It only happens when receveing PM in IE. Opera and FF no prob, the pop-up shows.

There is timeout for the user to be considered outside of the box

There are screenshots in the second post of the thread. There are not totally up-to-date but still pretty near.

The PM popup has been totally rewritten in the new chatbox version so I don't see the problem.

Which version because I am having the pop up not displaying issue as well. I am running the 0.5.0 version and don't get the pm pop up?

aranthorn 07-10-2008 08:34 PM

I'm having the loading... issue as well.

I un-installed/deleted all products and re-uploaded and installed from scratch.
vBulletin 3.6.8 Patch Level 2, dedicated server (very healthy)

What do you need from me to have a look at this? :)

Ranger187 07-10-2008 08:44 PM

Read the readme. Says to add the security token....

Quote:

WARNING :

For users which possess:
- a vBulletin 3.6 version < 3.6.10
- or, a vBulletin 3.7 version < 3.7.0 RC4

There will be a javascript error due to Jelsoft major changes ...

To make the mod work with this vBulletin version, edit the mgc_cb_evo.js file and add at the top : var SECURITYTOKEN = "0";

This is not very clean but this is the only way to make it compatible with both versions of vBulletin. DON'T DO IT IF YOU HAVE THE GOOD VERSIONS OF VBULLETIN.

The problem is that in IE you don't get the Private Message pop-up and get that error that i show you in the attach. As i said before only happens in IE.

Please don't "insult" Portuguese people
I'll translate what says in the IE warning for you:
Line: 863
CARACT:2
Error: The object does not supports this property or method
Code: 0
URL: www.g6-team.com/index.php

See!? Wasn't so hard! Didn't even used a translator :D

Oh and Opera issue still remains! Unfortunately! But in strange way. I mean, the menus work but when the amount of shouts are so that the scroll bar is seen they stop working right. My trick: click the button, scroll down or up the chatbox and then the menu is working right (hope you understand me).

jlew24asu 07-11-2008 11:38 AM

I tried uninstalling the product and now my forums wont load. PLEASE HELP.

all I did was remove the files from each directory (from the "Files" folder). I went to the admin page to uninstall the xml and I get a blank page.

(please note I'm only uninstalling this because I dont feel a chat box is right for my forum, the product itself worked just fine)

please help, I'm freakin out :(

You must carefully follow these steps if you don't want to screw up your forum when uninstalling the chatbox.

1/ Uninstall all the commands you had installed on the forum
2/ Remove the chatbox files from your forum directories
3/ Uninstall the MGC Chatbox Evo product
4/ You're done with the uninstall

I went straight to step 2 because I had no commands installed.

Haenk 07-11-2008 11:46 AM

In my opinion you must first uninstall the Plug-In and then delete the files.
