Thank you so much, finally someone who gives me answers *hugs*

EDIT

Ok, I uninstalled the product after that was done I reinstalled the whole hack, everything works fine.. sofar except for one thing.

I can't view the hack from the board nor can I change the settings in the usergroups in the admincp.

When I try this it gives me this:

https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/

and on the board it says I don't have premission to view/access the page.

Any ideas how to fix this?

davidw 10-15-2005 11:25 PM

To add to my post above, when approving someone, I get this error:

Quote:

Internal Server Error

The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.

Please contact the server administrator, *****@*****.*** and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error.

More information about this error may be available in the server error log.
I then click on Manage Affiliates to find that person is approved. Why do I get that error, is it related to the above mentioned problem?

You must upload the xml files before importing the product, that's what your error is from.

I don't know what is causing your errors, everything should be working as is except for the mail feature.

You're going to have to be a little more specific then that, so I can find out what the problem is...

Suzie 10-19-2005 01:34 AM

I can't delete the templates. (that means when I click revert they will not go away it wont even let me revert them) I can't use the uninstall feature because I get a Mysql error this is the error...

What happens when you try to change usergroup permissions?

Uninstall the product.
Try reinstalling again then

Try the above.

Suzie 10-19-2005 03:26 AM

I don't want to reinstall. I no longer wish to use this product. I will check back in the morning. I need sleep, I have spent too much of this day trying to fix this. I still get the same error editing the user groups after performing your suggestion.

Guest190829 10-19-2005 03:51 AM

Well then you have to remove all the uploaded files, and then empty out the uninstall box and click uninstall...

Suzie 10-19-2005 11:31 AM

As I said last night, I did that already. I still get this error.

If you are uninstalling you need to delete the files the MOD added, and then rebuild the bitfields..

Suzie 10-19-2005 08:57 PM

I had to reload forum files rebuild the database and go in and manually delete the field in my phpmyadmin. I think I am back to normal now. Whew.http://webpages.charter.net/connectingzone/shock/10.gif Thanks for the help.

Guest190829 10-23-2005 01:26 AM

I have been very busy recently and I haven't been able to work on BETA 2. Once I have some time I will release it.

  1. Your user account may not have sufficient privileges to access this page. Are you trying to edit someone else's post, access administrative features or some other privileged system?
  2. If you are trying to post, the administrator may have disabled your account. Use the contact form to find out why.

I've also got this same error. This is after a complete uninstall. I've not been able to get any version of this mod to work correctly - any future updates on the horizon?

bi11i 10-23-2005 11:30 PM

I need to know how to manually remove this field from my forum's mySQL using phpmyadmin. I can search for this and am able to find it, but there's far too many variables inside for me to simply delete something.

UPDATE: Copying the tools.php file from the original installation do_not_upload folder into your admincp and executing will allow you to select the option to rebuild the bitfield cache. No other editing is necessary.

I'm a big fan of this mod, but this is the 3rd time I've tried to install it, each time having disasterous results. While a really cool idea, I've never been able to get it to work. I don't recommend (sorry.)

It's BETA for a reason....

Beta or not, I've never had to use the vBulletin tools to recover my database on a mod.

I'm simply posting my feedback of it; I would've appreciated the same had I seen it before this install.

Guest190829 10-24-2005 02:16 AM

It's will remain beta, untill the "BETA" doesn't appear before every version number...

ReadOrDie 10-25-2005 01:22 AM

Now when people apply to my affiliates it's not appearing. I did it through the admin CP and nothing is awaiting my approval. Can you somehow make it so this hack adds the affiliate immediately instead of having to wait more than two days?

Guest190829 10-25-2005 01:34 AM

The hack doesn't wait one or two days, it get's inserted instantly. You're database is strange...

I agree, I could REALLY REALLY use a hack like this but installing it was a huge hassle. And now it's installed but my affiliates aren't appearing. It's a shame because I was gaining alot of members with the affiliates hack. Now I'm going to have to cancel all my affiliates. Please kirbyde do something. :(

I don't get why people don't understand about this hack being a BETA. Beta are to be installed for debugging purposes only, not live productions sites. Anyone who installs this hack on a live board without knowledge of php should not being posting how this hack is "not reccomended."

ReadOrDie, I've held my patience with you for a long time. And I'm at the breaking point. You've done nothing here but whine and moan about this hack. If your so dissapointed at the bugs of the hack, you can go and learn PHP and fix them.

I have other more important things to do then work on this hack. And going to this thread and seeing ungrateful and disrespectful posts doesn't give me the enthusiam to work on this, and maybe some of the other hacks I plan to release here for free.

For those who still can not grasp the termonogly of releases here you go:

Danny, being a coder myself (although recently new to vbulletin) I can understand a level of frustration. However, being in beta, which has been made apparently clear, hopefully to everyone reading, please take a level of criticism with it. You cannot simply put out a beta and expect people NOT to whine about it. I had complaints, yes, agreed, however, I have resolved most of mine aside from the ones I posted prior to this posting. I can live with these and when I have appropriate time, I may delve into the code to find what conflicts may be as at the moment I have no time to do so. I'm still taking in the differences between this software (vbulletin) and what I'm used to. I also have web designing to do, work at my job, and a newborn baby to help take care of. This adds to my client-side frustration as I feel others may have as well in different circumstances.

Having said that, as a coder yourself and with a project in BETA stage, calling someone's database "strange" because you haven't been able to duplicate their issues doesn't mean their issues do not exist. I, myself, experienced a similar situation which was corrected with uninstalling the hack and reinstalling it. If you have a problem with one of the members, please notify a moderator. Otherwise, accept the issues that clients run into as an issue that needs to be addressed rather than dismissed.

You are NOT going to have all the answers, nor the time to answer everything, which is understandable, but please, have patience with people. I'm sure this hack and others you will do will be great ones, but it takes time and patience dealing with clients on their issues. You are in a position of professionalism and your responses need to reflect your position.

Hey christianb,

Although I agree with you entirely on your arguements, you do use the term clients. Clients, through my eyes, are people paying me to code for them. When I am dealing with clients, I have absolute patients with them. In this situation, however, I am not dealing with clients.

I may have gotten a little upset with a member, but contacting a moderator for it is really not neccesary. Also, I am not required to accept anything. This is a free script provided to the members of vbulletin.org. I know this seems a bit extreme, but it is true. In this case, I tried to aquire more information so I could see what may be wrong. I didn't recieve any significant information, only impatience.

Yes, the coders have to be patient, but so do the people installing the hacks. Specifically when the hack is in BETA. I look back on my previous post, and I don't feel like anything I said didn't need to be said. I am giving my free time to add additional features to vbulletin. I appreciate the insightful posts with bug fixes and constructive critisizm. I do not like member's judging how I code, when they can't even understand php.

Again, there has to be an equllibrium of patience between both parties. The coder and the members installing the hack should all be patient. Everyone would be happier. :)

Hey,

HTML Code:

<tr><td class="vbmenu_option"><a href="member.php?$session[sessionurl]u=$bbuserinfo[userid]">$vbphrase[my_profile]</a></td></tr>
Above or below that would work. :)

thank you very much and thanks for the fast reply trying it right now

I understand what you refer to as clients. I have two types of clients - nonpaying and paying.

When I've dealt with beta projects myself in the past, inclusive of even my own, we've used a select amount of people to beta test the scripts (either by a beta test email list or by chosen who apply to beta test).

I'm still getting used to vbulletin's forums. I've never had a community where the beta and all was freely available to anyone. Of course, when I think about it, this is the first software (vbulletin) that I've had to pay for :D

I moved to vbulletin because I got tired of dealing with other software that was bug-filled and riddled with holes and security flaws. I spent hundreds of hours working on fixing problems in my spare time. I can also achieve my goals with vbulletin much faster 1/20th the time because this "just works." whereas before it was hit-and-miss 100% of the time.

On the moderator situatino, I've been part of many forums (under various usernames) that in a situation like what I referred to, one would contact a moderator, and the moderator would contact the offending party - act as an arbitrator in matters. Of course, I've seen some pretty childish things as well. :P

i have it working now thanks again... just one question though i have this at the bottom of the page,

Page generated in 0.05022 seconds with 19 queries (4 queries for uncached templates)
Uncached templates: affiliate_list (1)
Uncached templates: affiliate_module_mosthitsin (1)
Uncached templates: affiliate_module_mosthitsout (1)
Uncached templates: affiliate_module_mostvotes (1)

Yes that fix will be in BETA 2.

not to be a bother how long do you think that will be out? i love this mod its tight... just hoping it will be cached soon :nervous:

also when someone goes to submit a site this error is at the top do you know how this could be fixed?

Parse error: parse error, unexpected T_STRING in /home/*********/public_html/affiliate.php(117) : eval()'d code on line 1
