Tim, that's a good point. It's one I'll have to think about correcting for a new version.

Hi Amy,

I've recently had to uninstall VBSEO and it now seems to work fine so it's clearly related to that.

Not sure if that helps...

Cheers,

Tim

BUMP!

Can somebody please suggest some solution to this error in the footer:

Uncached templates: forumhome_forumbit_level1 (1)
Uncached templates: forumhome_forumbit_level2 (4)

??

Many thanks :)

JohnBee 02-10-2007 01:56 PM

This mod has tons of potential! - here are few things that I have thought of while trying it out.

1) Custom titles per page(browser and url)
2) Ability to include(repeat) forums on multiple pages(instead of links with blank activity display).
3) Ability to post entire Categories along with child forum arrangements onto other pages.
4) Custom styles per page.

I am currently developing a large community with many subsection and adding subsection profiles as pages would greatly enhance our ability to keep things organized and manageable.

Great hack btw!

Just use a mod called "ZH - Template cache" that allows you to add and cache uncached templates. Problem solved.

Not to bust anyone's b*lls here by posting something off topic but I think it would benefit many if something like what I need was to be created... Myself and several others want to be able to use a product ALMOST just like this one here in this thread, but we'd need a few separate things 'tweaked'. If the creator of this product would please be so kind as to briefly read this thread (in the link below) I'd greatly appreciate it, myself and many others are willing to pay. Thanks!

This plugin works in 3.6.4?

Thanks

Discussions 02-22-2007 05:21 PM

Yes this plugin works fine in 3.6.4

SpanishHarlem 03-09-2007 05:51 AM

Amy, do you know how I would get it so that we would have tabs on the forum like vborg has. I absolutely love this hack.

Thanks.

Rich 03-17-2007 01:02 PM

The tabs at the top are nothing more than template edits and links. You could create the same affect with text, images, etc. all linked to each page.

You CAN use the ZH cache mod, but you need to actually create those 2 templates in order for them to be cached. Those do not exist. lol

In the ACP, choose Styles and Templates >> Style Manager >> (Drop menu) Add New Template

Title: forumhome_forumbit_level1
HTML Code:

Save it

Do this again for level2. The 2 new templates, and them listed in the zh cache mod should square you away.

bela-meaad 04-01-2007 01:54 PM

amazin job

can you tell me how to use different language for these two pages?
i mean the main page is arabic & the second one English

& if style can be change too
will be cool ;)

Thanks

Luky 05-16-2007 06:55 AM

Any support getting it to work on 3.6.7 with vBSEO?

flup 05-16-2007 08:24 AM

Hey all,

I'm running vB3.5.4 and I uploaded the product succesfully -> all plugins are shown in the plugin manager and the product is activated.

But what do I do next? With the forummanager I can't select any page to let my forums/categories appear on... neither is there something with vB options where I can change this?

Can someone please make a decent installation help file? Because it might be just me or it's a bit of a vage readme. Thanks alot!

//Edit

Ok, due to me having some mods which add some certain extra rows to the 'Forum Manager' table it might be usefull to give your plugin a little update which adds a little heading above the 'Page [inputfield]' row. There's a screenshot which might explain more.

//Edit 2
When creating a new forum,.. the 'page' will be default set to '0'.
Is there a way it either becomes '1' by default or looks up under which category it is and takes over that page number? Thanks

//Edit 3
Ok, great! I got it all working, here's the way I worked it out:

http://www.tuningmax.nl/index.php

I created this topbar to navigate true the various forum-split-page. Kinda nice huh?:) Idea from this bar comes from www.fok.nl

Next thing i'm going to work on is to change the view of the forums when on another page.
Just inside the template, kinda curious if i'm getting it to work!

Template Add-on:

I'm writing a template edit right now to change the titles of the pages per page! It will be soon released, just tweaking it a little bit :)

flup 05-16-2007 09:48 AM

Template Modification for Custom Pagetitels! can be found and installed here:

https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=147365

I created another template modification to create custom forumhome layouts per page, very simple via the template system!

Template modification for Custom Forum Home Layouts! can be found and installed here:

Luky 05-16-2007 12:05 PM

4 posts in a row dude....

It wont work for me, i think it might be my vbSEO .htaccess?

OCB 05-24-2007 02:32 PM

I love this hack ...

But is it avalaible for vB 3.6.X, or is there an equal hack ???

Thank you very much

Coleccromos 05-27-2007 02:59 PM

To forgive for my English and if this answer this in this thread

My idea is to make in my forum a second it paginates with several sub forums and several categories.

As I have to make it

BCC 05-30-2007 06:22 AM

Is this Modification Avalible for 3.6.x?
I have installed it on my 3.6.x Board and it has a Couple of Errors or Bugs.

im running it on my 3.6.7 board fine (as far as i know)

www.gamerzneeds.net/forums/ check out the gfx or techzone or general games section, they are on different pages.

what problems/bugs did you find?

I know of a few that have been mentioned here already, and it appears a user has posted a fix for one of them above, checking that out now.

would be so nice if Amy could update this to include what the above user included. if not, it all good ^^

edit:

1 possible fix that would be great if you could fix is this:

My page 3 is here for example http://www.gamerzneeds.net/forums/gfx.html

when you click on the help request forum, it takes you to this:

http://www.gamerzneeds.net/forums/help-request/

When your inside that forum, the thingy in the navbar does not include the actual page, so users can not go back to the page 3 but instead have to go back to page 1.

example of what it looks like:

Gamerz Needs - For All Your Gaming Needs! > GfX - For All your Graphic Needs

but instead it should have this:

Gamerz Needs - For All Your Gaming Needs! > Page 3 title > GfX - For All your Graphic Needs

Great mod! Quick question (sorry if it has already been answered). Is there a way to have a different skin for the second page? I am able to do it for each individual forum, through vB, but I would like the entire page 2 to be a diff skin. Thanks.

lasto 08-02-2007 07:10 PM

works fine on 3.6.8

just letting others knows

nice hack by the way amy

pandaram 11-04-2007 07:28 PM

Hi,this hack was working fine on my 3.6.8 board.I just installed a new skin ,but now the page 2 option is not showing up....can someone please help me...?

sokol 01-19-2008 10:49 PM

I have Vbulletin 3.6.8 pl2 and the plugin installs fine, however all forums still show up in the main forumhome page. I do have index.php renamed forum.php if this might cause a problem.

~Sokol

Hornstar 01-19-2008 11:04 PM

I have been using this for over a year now and it has been working good. hopefully it will continue to work for 3.7 :)

Go to forum manager, and any forum you want to change to a different page, then you will need to set which page you want it shown on.
Have you done this?

For us who are running /forums/index.php

The code to show page 2 is: /forums/index.php?page=2

Have you tried: forum.php?page=2

Yep, have the majority of my forums on page 1, with 5 of them on page 2.
http://sgwcommand.com/forum.php

Explorers League Command and all it's Sub Forums are set to page 2.

~Sokol

Hornstar 01-20-2008 12:13 AM

The forums you selected for page 2. Are they still showing on the main page?

Edit, read above, so I think they are.

I guess the problem for you is that this was designed to work with index.php and not forum.php

I am not sure if she will support this ever, but my feelings are this mod is not going to be updated again, but she could surprise us, you never know.

Hornstar 01-20-2008 12:25 AM

Try uninstalling your copy.

then backup your database - if you are not experienced with this, then do not install the below product.

I am not a coder by any means at all, I think I may have found the problem, but please ensure you backup your database, as I will not be held responsible if the below product causes any problems.

The below is only to be installed if your having problems and your directory is /forum.php instead of the standard /forums/index.php and only if you want to backup your database first.

Did you modify the xml from:

PHP Code:

if(THIS_SCRIPT == 'index')
{
global
$page;
if(
$forum['page'] != $page)
{

$tempext '';
}

to
PHP Code:

if(THIS_SCRIPT == 'forum')
{
global
$page;
if(
$forum['page'] != $page)
{

$tempext '';
}

I think that is the solution, as it's looking for the index page which I renamed forum.

That changed worked. Thank you for the help!

Thanks,
Sokol

sokol 01-20-2008 08:50 PM

I Modified this to make use of settings for the name of the script rather then have it hard coded.

Vbulelting settings >> Split Forumhome Settings.

You will most likely leave this set to default "index" but if you are like me, and use a custom page for your index page, this will come in handy.

Note: I take no credit in this as all I did is add settings to modify the script name for the forums.

I've tested it in 3.6.x

~Sokol

Hornstar 01-20-2008 09:39 PM

yeah that is all I changed. Glad it worked for you.

swissknife 05-01-2008 02:57 PM

will this work at 3.7. too ?

Hornstar 05-02-2008 05:15 AM

I sure hope so, as im about to upgrade myself as well. Ideally it would be lovely if it was updated for 3.7 and a few new features was added. But if not, lets hope it works.

swissknife 05-03-2008 11:14 AM

It dosnt work, i tried. :(

i would be very, very, VERY happy, if this would be updated! this addon is one of my most important!!!!

swissknife 05-05-2008 11:03 AM

ok, i need this really. I will pay for it. Please contact me for an offer.
