jesus likes pie 10-18-2005 09:57 PM

This is so annoying. The shop was supposed to come out in july (or june?) at the latest.

What in god's name is the holdup? My members are so annoyed. They have so many points it's not even funny...and nothing to use them with.

I agree. I had uCash installed for a while on 3.5X, but eventually had to remove it, when there was nothing they could do with their points... Now my members are all complaining about their points gone, and then complaining about not having the shop, since I told them it was anticipated to be released MONTHS ago.

ThePimp 10-19-2005 12:12 AM

Link hasn't even been here since 29. Aug 2005

StyleZ cZ 10-19-2005 12:39 AM

This is a good mod but there is no ushop for it so it's kinda useless. I think i'ma just remove it to the shop comes out. Just giving members false hope for somethin that's not going to happen for a while.

I mean this isn't directed to you or any one else in this post but, geez the man has a life outside of the net.

Alot of us want this hack but, I'm sure he's not sitting with the finished hack just thinking "I have so much power *e-vile laughter*" He'll finish it ASAP. And we will all rejoice in the fact we waited for a great product.

deathemperor 10-19-2005 02:20 AM

if he's working on it I think he should drop us some messages, because waiting like this is somewhat nonesense.

Life outside the net or Not, this is business for most of us here, and when someone says they will be releasing something "soon enough" and doesn't keep their audience up to date for about 4 months, or continually ignores requests for approx. ETAs across multiple forums & threads, it starts to become that "e-vile laughter" that you are referring to, regardless of intent.

I'm not saying that it needs to be released now, nor am I demanding it. But a simple "Hey guys, we're still working on it, it is still going to be a while" will suffice. But as of yet, this hasn't happened anywhere. Not even in Area51.

Their dev board is still running RC2, which tends to indicate that it might be a dormant project, as RC2 was released quite a while ago. But again, I have no way of knowing either way, due to their silence in this regard.

So, I continue to wait like everyone else... and I'm sure cake and ice-cream will be had by all when it is released... I'm simply trying to get a message across to them that their silence about this matter isn't necessary.

No ill will toward anyone, just some simple suggestions.

If there were points in the bank through ushop and then you upgrade do those points come out or are they still in the bank?? If they are still there can someone write a script to pull them all out for all users?

I'm sure a donation would bring him back to the project.

If this is true I will gladly do it, but the problem is you can never be sure without his words.

totem 10-20-2005 05:38 AM

We have to adopt this path:

1.To contact him and ask for advise. This should take no more than one week.
- If there is a positive answer Then we'll wait.
- If he asks for compensation Then he will get it.
- - ELSE // If there is no answer Then
- - goto 2.

2. Contact vB.org staff and ask to declaire 'abandoned'.
- If they do Then another guy will be assigned.
- If they don't (within a reasonable time) Then goto 3.

3. We'll get organized and assign a coder.
- If he asks for money Then he'll get it.
- If he won't Then we'll all bless him.

fly 10-20-2005 11:27 AM

I'm in for a donation, if thats what it takes.

totem 10-20-2005 11:48 AM

I'm in, too!

cashpath 10-20-2005 01:31 PM

Count me in (to help with donation or hire a new programmer).. someone contact him who's doing it?

totem 10-21-2005 05:06 AM

No offence, but its been 70 days since his last reference for this hack. :disappointed:

deathemperor, what do you say?

Put me down for a contribution to this.

Some of us want the hack, Some need the hack, some of us have nonfunctional 3.5, and some will never use 3.5 without uShop inside.
Do you identify with any of the above to some degree?

These posts are not to say:
Hey Link, you owe us. NO!
He owes us nothing: He doesn't have to do it, maybe he doesn't have the time to do it, maybe he's studying, maybe something not happy happened.
It's a guessing game. We are betting without having any idea on when it's released, if at all.

uShop is a great hack, builded by a great coder. If we solve the problem BOTH sides will be happy.

deathemperor 10-22-2005 04:29 AM

if you think I can contact him, you're wrong.

If you think I can port the uShop, well I can but what ? he made it on Area51 already, just need some more testing/fixing.

If he doesn't have time to do the bugs fix, well everyone can be, it's about he doesn't want to release it even as a beta/alpha hack. I really don't understand this because once the uShop for vb3.0 was released in alpha state.

subnet_rx 10-22-2005 07:26 PM

I realize the shop doesn't work, but is the bank supposed to work?

Flow Fusion 10-22-2005 08:36 PM

No. Not yet.

subnet_rx 10-22-2005 10:52 PM

Anyone know how I can extract the bank balance out and put it in the user's pocket?

bradolson 10-22-2005 11:01 PM

Heads up for anyone using this: if someone previews their post/thread instead of posting, they'll get the points. So someone could just continue hitting the preview button and rack up points.

KaiSan 10-24-2005 11:17 AM

Edit: Sorry, question was answered in this thread. :)

totem 10-24-2005 11:58 AM

Mathew, can you inform us please when are you going to release the uShop for 3.5?

If no one pays you - I will!

Thanks.

I just installed ucash 1.1.1 on vBulletin 3.5.0
Looks like there is a bug in the current ucash.

I set the minimum time between two consecutive postings to 60 seconds.
So a member cannot post twice within one minute.

Under this setting, if a member tries to post repeatedly within one minute,
he gets error messages saying that he posts too quickly, and none of
his posting makes thru.
But the odd thing is his cash$ keeps incremented with such failed posting!!!

Is there a fix about this problem already?

PixelFx 10-26-2005 05:22 PM

any news for this hack, will prob ben either here or here when the developers have time to update news on it.

although the wait maybe killing most of us, I'm sure the wait will be worth it.

moonclamp 10-26-2005 06:19 PM

Give points in mass isn't doing anything.

Depending on the options I choose, it is either doing nothing or returning the following (or similar):

StyleZ cZ 10-27-2005 02:37 AM

Why are people still using this and asking for support requests when the developer hasn't been here in almost 3 months?

I say just uninstall till / if it's ever released. No point in using points if you can't use them.

subnet_rx 10-27-2005 03:55 AM

Mostly because people got hooked on this mod in 3.0.x and now their members won't tolerate being without it.

2rd ..... But we can only hope he does come back or some other good willed person picks this up ...

StyleZ cZ 10-27-2005 04:17 AM

I agree it was a good mod (eventhough I never got to use it since I purchased VB at 3.5), just seems like it's beating a dead horse to me though. Author isn't even responding.

I think best bet would be to try to get some other developers to make something like this.

Even if this guy did come back I doubt I'd use it. Not to knock him or anything cause I have a busy life myself and it's about to get worse, but I wouldn't want to get my members use to it only to later be in the same situation as many of you are now.

Somebody here has to be able to make something like this though.

moonclamp 10-27-2005 08:24 AM

I've taken out the template edits. The mod is still totting up points for my users ... (only 0.01 point per post though)

Then when the shop (or other points mods) get released I'll put them back and they'll have something to spend.

What I really want is control panel access to points ... having them on the postbit gives people an excuse for postwhoring

andy1074 10-28-2005 06:35 PM

how can i upgrade my old uShop & uCash 0.95b in vb3.0.7 to uShop & uCash 1.1.1 in vb3.5 ?

There is no uShop for vB3.5.
In fact, even the uCash is not ready. No one works on it. Read the last two pages of this thread.

andy1074 10-29-2005 04:01 PM

but what is that file for download ? uCash 1.1.1 for vB3.5 RCx [2005 08 03].zip

tarlkea 10-29-2005 09:47 PM

He's probably still working on it. He probably had some delays. His profile said he was on yesterday.
