Received my second cheque today in the post for $207 (month). You need scale to pull anything away significant away from this but it adds a nice new revenue stream to forum network owners such as myself.

Devil_Dog 01-24-2012 10:09 PM

Looking to add this to my site. Can anyone confirm that this is working in 4.1.10?

Thanks

The mod is compatible with every release version of vBulletin v3.7 and newer

No. This is not working on 4.1.10

Even upon a fresh, clean, test install

You guys should really consider updating this plugin. I was looking at the how it work and it's doing some really silly things, like connecting to the database and running a query on every page the captcha is used on just to determine what version of vbulletin is being used. I modified class_humanverify_solvemedia.php so it doesn't do this.

You should also consider putting any html into a template so it is easily editable.

At the very least make separate versions for vbulletin 3 and 4 to eliminate that database connection & query.

scottct1 01-30-2012 04:50 PM

We have upgraded to 4.1.10 and SolveMedia is no longer available as a selection so we have gone back to regular Captcha.

Marked as Uninstalled.

c.c. 01-30-2012 06:52 PM

So does this work with 4.1.10 or what? Can someone Solve Media confirm?

The Solve Media mod is compatible with all versions of vBulletin starting with 3.7. In order to display the "Solve Media" option in the Human Verification Manager, the Solve Media mod makes certain database changes. The changes are overwritten by vBulletin during an upgrade. The mod will continue to work after an upgrade, only the option will disappears from the Human Verification Manager.

If you want to restore the option to the Human Verification Manager, follow these steps:
1. Switch to a different Human Verification Library.
2. Uninstall the mod using the vBulletin Product Manager.
3. import product-solvemedia.xml using the vBulletin Product Manager.
4. Set your API keys and make any desired configuration changes via AdminCP > Settings > Options > SolveMedia Options
5. Set the Human Verification Library back to Solve Media using the Human Verification Manager.

Papa Bear 01-30-2012 07:42 PM

confirmed working in 4.1.10 using these steps.

scottct1 01-30-2012 08:15 PM

Ok then... reinstalled. :)

I do hope you will lower the minimum payout. I could see it being that high if you were serving more paid ads, but it appears the majority are not paid ads and we would love to be paid for the paid ads that we have served. :)

That might get more people to install as well.

osix 01-30-2012 10:26 PM

i installed . and is testing it

but after entering 5-6 time

good idea, but is this worthwhile in terms of revenue ? or are you just promoting them like - for free (0.1$ per 1000 solves?)

I've been earning very decently with this. It's a super way to add a bit more income...as long as you have the traffic.

solvemedia 02-06-2012 04:21 PM

Version 1.0.4 of the mod is now available.

daviet 02-13-2012 10:27 PM

I just implemented the mod recently. It's working fine except I just noticed on a CMS comment page, when the Verizon FIOS ad shows up, the text box for the comment is non-functional. Other ads seem ok. Is this a known issue?

Edit - I found the place to open a ticket on the Solve Media support site.

tpearl5 02-15-2012 03:18 PM

Thanks for the update! That makes much more sense :)

1. Hi, this works for international traffic too?

2. Can I edit the template to translate the line:
"In order to verify that you are a human and not a spam bot, please enter the answer into the following box below based on the instructions contained in the graphic"
into my own language?

Currently, our advertising partners are only targeting US traffic. Non-US user will see our security creatives.

You can absolutely make any changes you wish to the template. The default instructions are simply what some of our vBulletin-based publisher partners has suggested in the past.

howarde 03-15-2012 01:31 PM

I installed this, and now my registrations have doubled since installing... I went from using a challenge question (a stupidly easy one) to this, and now I'm getting all sorts of bogus bot registrations. Anyone else noticing this?

I have been dealing with all kinds of bots and so far none have been able to pass Solve Media

cungchuctanxuan 03-20-2012 02:27 AM

Is it possible to make Solve Media appear in newthread also? rather than just registration

cungchuctanxuan 04-05-2012 05:40 AM

what's going on here? no one is talking anymore

You can require human verification on guest posts in the "Human Verification Options" settings. This will only apply to posts and new threads by unregistered users.

maybe it's because mod seems to be working just fine for everyone?

I have installed it on two boards both 4.2 and no issues so far.

p.s. bot registration down by 99%

LinChang 07-26-2012 10:24 AM

So can Solve Media appear when users make new thread or make new post?

You can use the Solve Media widget just like any other Human Verification Library on registration, new thread / post, advanced search, contact us, and recover lost password. You can select which of these actions trigger human verification in the "Human Verification Options" settings group. You can configure which usergroups (unregistered, moderators, administrators, etc.) are required to complete human verification by changing those usergroups' forum permissions.

Some of our revenue-bearing creatives may look like standard CAPTCHA puzzles. It is also possible that you have triggered our fraud system, or your site's categories does not fall into any of our advertisers' targets, or that you don't fall into any of our advertisers' demographic targets.
