Greetings coders at DB-Tech

Curious if any headway was made on the comments section and the profile tab?

Specifically looking for management of the comments section including mass-delete. Also would be nice if could block or ban a spammer via IP (since allowing unregistered comments)

And the profile tab a listing of all files uploaded by a user.

morpheus302 03-02-2011 01:22 PM

Is there any option to add automatically a thread after a file is submitted?

We are currently in the process of releasing version 1.3.0. It should be available soon. We have also noted some of your suggestions and may add them in future versions.

There is but unfortunately it is a pro only feature :(

I have bought quite a few products from you BUT the amount of footer links you add is ridiculous.

I bought 1 mod, the * InfoPanels Pro and you added 2 footer links for just one modification so I had to get rid of that.

If every mod I bought or installed had this the footer would go on forever.

Why, when we buy pro do you insist on filling our forums with your links.

As a buyer of your modifications (which are great), this really puts me off buying anything else.

I have bought info panels from you but I have had to disable it because you have added 2 footer links,

1 for the xstats then 1 for the infopanel.

I cannot speak for other Dragonbyte-Tech mods except for the ones I have developed. In vBDownloads case, the only branding on the mod is a link in the footer on vBDownload pages i.e pages within the vbdownloads.php file. As far as I know, the only mods that add global footer links are the ones that are utilised throughout the forum and have no one specific location (vBOptimise for example). I hope this helps you understand the reasoning behind the location of our branding. I will have Iain follow up on this with a more official response.

DragonByte Tech 03-03-2011 10:16 PM

Our mods only add footer notes on pages they are displayed =).

If someone owns a few of our pro mods and feels that there are too many links on certain pages, we are always more than happy to give them instructions on how to create a more condensed copyright footer.

Infopanels being over 2 lines was actually an error - it should be fixed in the next hour or so ^.^

We do not feel it is unreasonable for our products to add a copyright footer on pages they are displayed - much as vBulletin itself does, as well as the vast majority of paid modifications.

For people who do not wish to have these footers however, we do sell a branding free option - again much like vBulletin etc.

The modifications you guys give out are fantastic and so is the support BUT if I knew that for eg the infopanels added 2 lines to the footer I would not have bought it hence me buying the modification then not bothering to use it on my forum which is a shame.

This is what is added to the footer,

So basically, if I was to buy the pro of this mod, would I get ANOTHER load of footer links.......

If yes I will not bother.

DragonByte Tech 03-03-2011 10:27 PM

As above, the 2 lines on infopanels was an error which should be fixed in the next hour or so (should only be one) =)

In the product description for all of our products it lets you know what copyright is displayed and where before you buy =)

In the case of vBDownloads, it adds a copyright footer on pages inside vBDownloads.

Iain

I've updated the Pro and Lite downloads to condense the InfoPanels copyright to 1 line.

Enter your Customer Area and re-download the files in order to get the updated files that will condense the copyright on your site :)

Thank you :) and I will consider this, as you said it only places the footer links on the page in downloads so it gets my vote.

First of all, awesome product. If I can get all my bugs worked out I will definitely be getting the pro version.

First issue is that the product doesn't seem to be parsing bbcode. It looks great in the editor:

https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/external/2011/03/26.jpg

But after hitting the upload button, I get this:

https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/external/2011/03/27.jpg

My second issue is a more minor one, but when using the mirror function, if you go to edit a download that already has a mirror, for instance to add a second mirror, the first mirror link is lost. Thanks!

morpheus302 03-08-2011 04:35 PM

Bug1: bbcodes doesn't work
Bug2: Editig a file duplicates it and posts a new file.

Can you please reproduce these 2 bugs??

Is it possible to post links only to files without uploading on the main server?

TeknoSounds 03-09-2011 03:16 AM

Yes you can link to files on other servers.

You seem to be using an older version of Pro. Please use the DBTech forums for Pro support. Thanks :)

Just a couple of things. I just installed this on vb 4.1.2 and have the following issues:

On the individual download page under the files section. The icon image url is trying to point to icon1.gif it should be icon1.png (as of right now it is creating a broken image placeholder).

Next issue is on the main download page (where it shows the categories) under statistics the collapse image url is pointing to http://cdn.dragonbyte-tech.com/image...llapse_40b.png which is creating a broken image placeholder. Shouldn't this point to an image on our own server?

Third, for some reason when I try and delete a file extension within the admincp, I get an Internal Server Error and it will not allow me to delete it.

DragonByte Tech 03-10-2011 06:05 PM

Hey!

Just a quick note letting you know that vBDownloads has now been updated to 1.3.0. This version includes numerous bug fixes and the introduction of a screenshots features! We have also refined a number of areas of the design! We hope you enjoy this update :)

Using WYSIWYG to submit a file, doesn't convert bbcodes on the description area. Please check this test file i made here:

Does this mod keep track of files downloaded from other sites (e.g. filehosting services), or do they have to be hosted on my server? I'm looking for a way to keep track of and reward users for posting links that get a lot of downloads. Is this possible using vbulletin alone?

We do have functionality in place that will allow for links to be added to an upload but they are not tracked at present. This is something that has been requested quite a bit so we could look at adding this in the future :)

Another problem is:

I can't change the category of a file. It takes me to a new upload page. Can you please fix this as it's very important manage files.

Suggestion:
Every category have an option to choose:
- Allow uploading files
- Allow sending links
- allow both

You can do this by disabling the process_templates_complete plugin for vBDownloads.

What's the difference between this mod and the download II mod?

Also:

1. Can you only allow certain usergroups to download files? Let's say you have a normal and deluxe membership, and you only want the deluxe users to download a file. Is that possible with this plugin? If not - how would you go about this?

2. Let's now say each month you offer a new download to the deluxe users only. If a user joins the deluxe usergroup in April, would it be possible with this plugin that he only gets the downloads posted each month from april onwards, but not all the previous ones already there?

3. How do you conceal amazon s3 links?

Thanks!

Hi there,

it will be one of the greatest mods if we have a feature like this one:

https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=247952

Is it possible to add something like that?

Best regards

I'm very interested in the "pro" edition but have a few questions:

Does this addon put uploaded files in to individual sub-directories, or throw all files in to a single directory?

Can the upload directory be located somewhere else, say a mapped share on the server?

Can the pro version be set to automatically allow, say, a user the ability to see only the files they upload, or do we have to go and set permissions manually after the fact for each upload?

I'd like to make a private area of the site where customers can upload files to us; for my internal staff it'd be better if they could just browse to a share on the server itself and see a list of customer directories. It'd also be good if it by default restricted downloads/visibility to only the account that uploaded the files. Is this possible?

Very interested in this myself, would def like to nominate these for later editions.
Especially the second one, as I would like to use my shared host for my files since I have unlimited server space there, which would help keep my dedicated host clear.
Actually, maybe even bump the ability to include a full CDN as an option?

ixian 03-22-2011 12:13 PM

I've installed the lite version and so have answered some questions for myself. The permissions I get now - I believe the paid version has more options there.

You can also locate the directory anywhere on the server. A CDN might work if you can map a virtual drive - some offer that feature.

The biggest problem right now is it dumps all files in to the same directory. There really should be an option to create a sub-directory per category, at least. For larger sites with lots of categories the current scheme would be a bit of a nightmare to manage.

The product also has a few minor bugs here and there, such as raw tags like </ br> showing up in the description - something isn't being parsed right.

It's pretty nice though, and has real potential. If they can add the sub-directory by category and fix a few bugs it'd be a hell of a addon.

I'm am investigating the parsing issue right now :) The categorised listings is an interesting suggestion however so we may consider doing that! :)

There are many differences in our version :) For example, we allow for multiple files to be added to one upload and integration with mods such as vBCredits. The Pro version also includes a few nifty features like flash uploading, password-protected uploads and timer based downloads.

1) It is possible to only allow certain usergroups to download files. Usergroup permissions can be set individually for viewing, downloading and uploading per category.

2) I suppose technically this is possible. You could create a Deluxe category and create a new sub-category within that every month although this would take a bit of work!

3) I'm not entirely sure what you mean by this. Could you give me further clarity on this?

Is there anyway to integrate the Facebook "like" button for each download. I tried adding it to the template but it's not working correctly. I know other mods have similar issues.

The mod has now been updated to fix a bug that would cause BBCode to not parse in Internet Explorer and Firefox.

DragonByte Tech 03-27-2011 03:51 PM

Updated once again to fix a few bugs, namely a bug that would cause the style of the listings page to mess up if certain BBCode was used and a bug that would cause the WYSIWYG editor to display the wrong description while editing a file.
