So doing that, if I'm right.. it means when I view all in my 'Forum' folder, I should also see a folder called ''dbtech'' in there too?
Then that's me sorted?
Thanks for replying to me. :)

DragonByte Tech 01-17-2011 06:41 PM

Correct :)

Paul. 01-18-2011 07:14 PM

Ahh.. thanks a lot mister! :)
Where is it in settings?
Edits are made in settings and user group permissions?
I don't see where.
Maybe I need to delete the files I placed by mistake where I assumed they'd go?
Can you tell me anywhere they'd appear? Maybe post an image of their settings?

TeknoSounds 01-19-2011 03:09 AM

Most new AdminCP settings are near the bottom... go into settings, view all, then CTRL+F and do a find on Username Request, should take you right to those settings.

Usergroup settings show up near the top of the usergroup after editing it.

DragonByte Tech 01-19-2011 10:42 AM

This mod does not have any new AdminCP settings, it's all in the Usergroup Manager :)

3 8 6 compatible?

DragonByte Tech 01-19-2011 12:11 PM

Nope, there's already a similar mod out for vB 3.8 by Marco :)

Fillip

Had a search I can't find such mod by 'Marco' :(

Welshy2008 01-20-2011 06:59 AM

This one works on vB3.8.6 PL2:

https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=149377

Although, I do believe the "Marco" and "Username change" that Fillip (DBTech) was referring to is this one here:

https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthrea...ername&page=15

(Made for vB 3.5.X, but apparently works on vB3.8.X - I use the first one though, so I couldn't possibly say).

HTH.

Agree Strongly.

Strongly DISagree.

We've got one currently on our 3.8 board which does this and it's ideal

That's outside of the scope of the modification as-is, but we are thinking about expanding it and this would definitely be a feature on the list for such an expansion :)

Has anything come of this yet? Is it possible that specific usergroups can request a username change, but the username will not change unless they are "Approved" by a forum Administrator? Also, as others have said (like the one quoted above) - this is currently being used by byself, on 3.8.X (the top link in my post# 170, above^^^).

This would turn a great Mod into A PERFECT Mod. (with the OPTION to receive a PM notification or not, of new username change applications).

I have installed this, but would not be able to use it until the request above is added, (*for the reason below).

Many Thanks.

(*Not keen on users being able to change their username theirselves, to whatever they want, as it will end up in a mess of silly usernames, perhaps?).

OldSchoolDSL 01-29-2011 02:47 AM

Installed & working

4.1.1

ahmedipa 01-29-2011 04:40 AM

nice thing thank you very much

David Karol 02-01-2011 01:46 AM

This is great.
Throughout our forum installation, we changed the phrase "User Name" to "Real Name." Is it possible to change that in the profile field that was created with this add on?

Thanks.

DragonByte Tech 02-01-2011 05:21 AM

Did you try looking in the phrases for it? :)

BBF 02-01-2011 04:37 PM

Great mod!
can you add an option that only moderator can apply new usernames?

DragonByte Tech 02-01-2011 04:46 PM

That most likely won't be added, it's intended to allow users to change their own, not be a moderation tool ;)

Maxi62 03-16-2011 10:26 AM

Does it work well under 4:12 vb?

DragonByte Tech 03-16-2011 03:01 PM

It works for all vBulletin 4.x.x versions except for 4.0.2 I believe.

I'm not sure if this can be fixed :(

It can be fixed quite easily by editing the dbtech_username_change_editusername template and moving the last </div> tag from the bottom to the top. See attached screenshot. You're welcome. :)

Thanks for that. I was just about to ask if there was a fix for that since I just installed and noticed the styling issue.

Thank you!

Phaedrus 03-27-2011 10:26 PM

I am looking forward to some peace and quiet, none of the PMs asking me to change a name. I wish I had never started that...

FTDave 03-31-2011 02:20 AM

This is interesting. I think I will add it to my forum. It will save me some time with the request to change usernames.

Thank you

Skyrider 03-31-2011 06:57 PM

Awesome plugin! Any possible way that with each name change.. the forum can create a thread about it? Like the reported threads being made on a specific section of the forums? This way it's easier to check out all the changed nicknames.

Phaedrus 04-01-2011 01:27 AM

Love the Mod...

Wish list:

1. A way to register an original username so that they can re-use it later and no other can take it even if it "ages".
2. List the "registered name" below their username in the postbit so that people can see who they are without having to go to their profile every time.

DragonByte Tech 04-01-2011 01:19 PM

It's doubtful we'll be expanding this mod any time soon, but we'll take them into consideration should we ever release a feature update :)

Please do not post the full product. If you wish to suggest template changes then please include them in [HTML] tags instead.

Don't get me wrong, I appreciate the effort, we'd just rather people didn't distribute modified versions of our products, even on this site :)

Post whatever changes you made in "code" tags. Especially if they are the ones that I had on my wish list...

:D

Replace the entire dbtech_username_change_editusername template with:
HTML Code:

</div>
<h3 class="blocksubhead">{vb:rawphrase dbtech_username_change_usernamechange}</h3>
<div class="section">
    <div class="blockrow">
    <vb:if condition="$show['dbtech_changeusername']"><label for="tb_editusername">{vb:rawphrase dbtech_username_change_edit_username}</label></vb:if>
    <div>
        <vb:if condition="$show['dbtech_changeusername']">
            <input type="text" class="primary textbox" name="username" id="tb_editusername" value="" maxlength="{vb:raw vboptions.ctMaxChars}" />
        <vb:else />
            {vb:raw dbtech_changeusername_reason}
        </vb:if>
    </div>
    <p class="description">
        <vb:if condition="$vbulletin->userinfo['permissions']['usernamechangepermissions'] & $vbulletin->bf_ugp_usernamechangepermissions['canchangeown']">
            <vb:if condition="$vbulletin->userinfo['permissions']['dbtech_username_changedelay'] > 0">
                {vb:rawphrase dbtech_username_change_description, {vb:raw bbuserinfo.permissions.dbtech_username_changedelay}}
            <vb:else />
                {vb:rawphrase dbtech_username_change_always}
            </vb:if>
        </vb:if>
        <vb:if condition="$dbtech_lastchange">
            <vb:if condition="$vbulletin->userinfo['permissions']['usernamechangepermissions'] & $vbulletin->bf_ugp_usernamechangepermissions['canchangeown']"><br /></vb:if>
            {vb:rawphrase dbtech_username_change_lastchange, {vb:raw dbtech_lastchange}}<br />
            <vb:if condition="$bbuserinfo['permissions']['dbtech_username_numchanges']">
            {vb:rawphrase dbtech_username_change_numchanges, {vb:raw dbtech_numchanges}, {vb:var bbuserinfo.permissions.dbtech_username_numchanges}}<vb:else />{vb:rawphrase dbtech_username_change_numchanges_nolimit, {vb:raw dbtech_numchanges}}</vb:if>
        </vb:if>
    </p>
</div>

Sweet...

David Karol 04-12-2011 05:32 PM

Hi,

After upgrading to 4.1.3, in "Edit Profile" an error shows up where the Username Change is located: "You don't have permission to change your username. ".

Any Ideas?

Thanks.

DragonByte Tech 04-12-2011 06:28 PM

Please re-check your usergroup permissions, we're running 4.1.3 on DBTech and it's working fine here :)
