Make sure that you have "Include old URLs" option disabled.

The option to include old urls is set to yes, but this is what it says "While vBSEO will automatically 301-redirect old (dynamic) URLs to the newly formatted static URLs, some users may opt to include the old URLs in the sitemap to ensure Google finds the redirect headers for each page. Include this option until you note that most old URLs have been purged from Google."

Since I just installed vBSEO, and if I understand that message correctly, it says I should/could leave this option on untill old url are gone from google. What I dont understand is how will they disappear if I will be constantly including them in the sitemap. Please explain this option a bit more to me so I know what to do.

Thanks

Does this mod add vBAdvanced pages to the sitemap?

Thanks.

Mattcch 04-16-2009 09:39 AM

Install ok.
Thanks a lots.

Any coming timeline for "moreover" & "m$ live engine?"

Forgive my ignorance... but, where?

Thanks.

Ranger375 04-16-2009 10:37 PM

I'm just guessing I can't use the site map, since I already have an .htaccess file in my root forum folder and it has the following:

#AddHandler x-httpd-php .php
RewriteEngine Off

I take it I can't get around this?

iojam 04-17-2009 07:05 PM

Devanand,

you should manually submit it in webmaster tools.

EagleNick,

you should add "vbseo_sm_vba.php" in "Add-ons" list option in vB admincp.

Ranger375,

it should work if you just add rewrite rules to the bottom of your existing .htaccess.

kronnos 04-17-2009 09:45 PM

Since I installed this, i ran the sitemap generator once and it all worked. I have noticed that since then(6 days ago) it did not generate any new sitemaps although i set up the cron job correctly. When i went again to run it manually, i got the following error:

[SECTION START] blog tags [6,871.6Kb mem used] [405,623s (+405,623s)]
[create sitemap index] filename: sitemap_index.xml.gz, number of sitemaps: 17 [6,878.4Kb mem used] [405,623s (+0s)]

Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 33554432 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 34988073 bytes) in /home/user/public_html/vbseo_sitemap/vbseo_sitemap_functions.php on line 1537

iojam 04-18-2009 10:38 AM

You should increase memory_limit setting in PHP config.

dominicricci 04-18-2009 03:30 PM

Mine doesn't seem to be automatic.... any solution to this

some of my settings are set for daily some weekly some monthly and after 4 days it didn't run at all.

Even if I have to keep my rewrite off? I noticed the htacces files requires it to be on.

mdawg 04-20-2009 05:35 AM

So, I install this...and it will work even though I do not have VBSEO?

Yes. It works on its own.

mdawg 04-20-2009 10:59 PM

Well now I have installed vbSEO...will this still be good for me? Thanks.

Yes. They work well together. )

mdawg 04-21-2009 03:48 AM

Okay so I have 3.8.2 vbulletin, 3.3.0 vbSEO and now this installed.

When I go to
http://www.yoursite.com/vB-root/vbseo_sitemap/.

and click on
Your Google Sitemap Index URL

I get: Sitemap file not found

Should I Run Sitemap Generator? When I click on it it says Are you sure? which sounds ominous and made me hesitate. :-)

djbaxter 04-21-2009 04:08 AM

You might want to post this at the vBSEO forums. It may have something to do with your URL rewrites or more likely your .htaccess file.

mdawg 04-21-2009 04:38 AM

Actually I went ahead and ran the sitemap generator and I believe I got the Google Sitemap Index URL and submitted it.

How do I get the sitemap index for Yahoo and MSN or are they identical?

djbaxter 04-21-2009 05:10 AM

Yahoo and MSN now use the same XML sitemap as Google.

mdawg 04-21-2009 07:36 AM

Thank you. So, the three are Google, Yahoo and MSN? Thanks.

kronnos 04-21-2009 08:43 AM

I noticed that now i get 2 sitemap reports in the mail every day(identical). When i went to sceadualed tasks I found 2 different tasks for the site map:
  1. vBSEO Sitemap Generator - Generate sitemaps
  2. vBSEO - Create Google/Yahoo Sitemap
I know i created one manually but was the other one created when i installed the sitemap? OR is one of them from my 3.6 version of the sitemap? Which one should i delete, if i should delete?

Thanks

iojam 04-21-2009 07:59 PM

You should remove the second one.

I just looked through the install instructions and found the the second on is the one I made manually when installling this version:

Code:

# Go to your ADMIN CP > Scheduled Tasks > Add New Scheduled Task
# Edit new task options:

  1. Title: vBSEO - Create Google/Yahoo Sitemap

So are you sure I should still remove the second one?

Thanks

iojam 04-21-2009 09:16 PM

Note that:
Quote:

Note: This is a required step for vBulletin 3.5.x series. If using vBulletin 3.6.x or 3.7.x, vBSEO will automatically create a scheduled task at 2AM without having to go through the steps below.
Yes, you should remove the manually created one.

urdu 04-21-2009 10:39 PM

how can i remove the vBSEO Sitemap Interface Access Password or what is it?
bcz when i add the sitemap url to google:
http://www.mywebsite.com/forum/sitemap_index.xml.gz
i got this error:
Quote:

General HTTP error: 404 not found
We encountered an error while trying to access your Sitemap. Please ensure your Sitemap follows our guidelines and can be accessed at the location you provided and then resubmit.

solution of the problem we wrote a friend http://www.vbseo.com/f67/sitemap-dow...44/index2.html found here already. I would add the following

Please try to modify vbseo_sitemap/index.php file:
find:

PHP Code:

$pf fopen($dl_log'w');

replace with:

PHP Code:

$pf fopen(VBSEO_SM_DLDAT'w');

kronnos 04-23-2009 08:05 PM

Are deleted posts/threads added to the sitemap? I mean the ones deleted by mods but not permanently.

zero5854 04-25-2009 02:11 AM

hmmm this is odd. I DONT have vbulletin SEO installed. ( Just in case u asked) anyway all I see this doing in the search engines is showing my site name and statistics? I chose all the correct settings to do other stuff? Very odd. Anyone else have this?

sbsforum.us 04-28-2009 03:29 PM

flasher33 04-29-2009 06:24 PM

It's free and you can run it without vBSEO.

Phobos49 04-30-2009 05:28 PM

I installed this AddOn two month ago. I installed everything correct! Sitemap, htaccess und Bot-Logs show that everything should be fine. Googlebot shows up every day but it only records a few topics. Since the last week all my google-searchresults are gone!!! Why does google ignore my forum? It does not contain "bad words" or any stuff google does not like.

Should I uninstall this AddOn?

p.s: I run this tool without vBSEO.

Black Tiger 05-01-2009 01:10 AM

I run this tool also without vBSeo for more then a year now.
Since this new 3.8 version, I get a parse error on line 62313 in sitemap_4.xml.gz.

Quote:

Parsing error
We were unable to read your Sitemap. It may contain an entry we are unable to recognize. Please validate your Sitemap before resubmitting.
Now I download the sitemap_4.xml.gz and this is what line 62313 says:
Code:

<loc>http://www.mydomain.org/bbs/downloads.php?do=cat&id=1</loc>
Seems this mod is like with all versions, having problems with Downloads II?

I hope it's not the same problem as was stated here:
https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showpost....&postcount=645

Which I have stated as fixed by Jelle! over a year ago. This file should have been updated at that time.

Can anybody confirm it's the same problem or otherwise provide me with a fix?
