Why don't you just import the IPB game via the settings in v3Arcade?

AdminCP -> v3Arcade -> Game Tools

KW802 03-20-2009 01:58 PM

@Biker_GA: Gotti is missing all of the PHP files that are normally in the .tar files. For whatever reason, he has the game's data files (swf & gif files) but not the php files needed for the installation process.

@KevinL & Helmut71: An updated converter is in the works but at this point I am asking myself if an updated converter should be released now or wait until the next major release (being worked on by Brian) is ready since that will include new functionality. Complicating matters, the /forums/arcade/gamedata folder will now be a shared folder between the two different systems. Opinions are welcome. :)

That's actually a tough call.

What would be the damage if one is released now and then an even more updated one is released with even more goodies? Just thinking out loud here haha I would like to at the very least get my members scores moved over to V3...of course the games would have to go also haha

What other goodies are we talking about in the next big release that would hold the converter up?

Biker_GA 03-20-2009 02:20 PM

Why worry about the scores? I reset mine every month and make the members shoot for the top spots again. **GRIN**

It is kind of what I am thinking... release an updated converter now (prior to the next major release of v3A) but with some cavaets.

Brian is tackling the development from a few different fronts, the code behind, the GUI, and features. Behind the scenes, he is literally going through all of the code line-by-line to optimize it as much as possible & to standardize it to the Jelsoft coding recommendations for add-ons. That also includes moving a lot of the embedded javascript & CSS definitions to their own files and also to take better advantage of caching. For the GUI, he is working on making the templates consistent so that stuff like cell paddings (just an example!) is driven by the vB style definitions and not hard-coded. In regards to features, it is too early to give any answers yet since nothing is ever 'written in stone' until it is released, but to give some hints... Brian has a full range of products at vBadvanced to get inspriration from and both SKHMS & Oblivion Knight has given us their permission to incorporate their respective add-ons as well. So... it is safe to say that there is a pretty large pool of features being looked at. Of course everything won't make it into the first release of the next major version but the foundation will be built to keep us busy for quite some time.

Do you do that for all users across the board? I'm thinking some type of cron job could be configured to do that for you.

Biker_GA 03-20-2009 02:40 PM

Thanks for reminding me. LOL I keep forgetting about setting cron jobs to do that for me. And yes, the entire arcade is reset to no scores at the beginning of each month.

MetalMilitia 03-20-2009 03:26 PM

I solved my problem....

However, In the scheduled tasks (under Arcade Tasks) - what file should that be looking at when it tries to update the arcade tasks? It dosn't seem to be updating the 'champions' and stuff.

Well with ibpro I have one of the addons that every month it decreases the scores by a certain amount ( % ) that way it still makes them beatable (even to the ones who beat them haha)

But if I took them away completely every month I would get killed LOL!

Thanks for the reply :)

I don't see what would be the harm in that, as long as the new converter (with the next major release) doesn't wipe everything clean? For some reason I think I read that somewhere? But again I don't see the harm in that because I'm not coding it! haha

All those items that you mentioned are great! I really can't wait to see the updates :)

To see some of the ippro mods (like the one I mentioned with the scores being reduced) be added to this in the future, would be cool also. ;)

In my opinion you may release the converter now (or as soon as it is done) - if it doens't affect the add on and the gamedata-folder can be shared easily.

On the other hand: a timeline would be interesting - when do you plan to release the next major release? Is it a question of day, weeks or months? :)

PixelFx 03-21-2009 05:24 AM

looks awesome guys, sorry been MIA, looking forward to changes, hoping to update some of our stuff to 1.0.9 soon. thanks for taking this project on again. This has always been my fav arcade addon for vbulletin, ontop of being cmps fan. Couldn't think of a better team than you guys to head it up.

PROBLEM HERE!!! - Help please!

Any iB "Pro" Arcade I install does not write a score :(
It just takes me to: http://www.rarewarecentral.com/forum...de&do=newscore
The same thing happens with all the prevous versions of V3arcade I've used.
What should I do to fix this?

Biker_GA 03-22-2009 07:24 AM

How are you installing the .tar files?

my backup drive has crashed causing me to loose everything, including the original zip files i had of the games with the php files inside. so all i am left with is the swf and image files that are still on the hosted website. so is it possible to import the games on another website? can i do the export and import thing?

Are they the v32 games? That should be fixed with the latest version of v3Arcade.

No.. You need the entire zip/tar file.

V32 games only write the score once and then after that give you the vbulletin no permission error. Tested on several forums on several platforms with the same error.

EDIT: Uploading a screenshot so you can see it yourself.

KW802 03-23-2009 01:28 AM

@Connkid25: We tested with several v32 games on a few different servers, no problems. The "No Permission" error is thrown if the random numbers used to prevent submitting fake scores do not match. But... I noticed that your forums are in the root directory (at least according to the URL in the shot). Any chance you're using a portal (eg: vBa CMPS) or something else instead of the standard vB forum index?

connkid25 03-23-2009 01:56 AM

Hello. We are not using any cms. Tested it with default vb installs from 3.7 - 3.8 and all give the same error when submitting a second score on another game or the same game. Like I said, you can submit only one score. After that, permission error.

Did I missunderstood something?
In my opinion v3 arcade doesn't support ibp games (not yet).

KevinL 03-23-2009 12:38 PM

In the first post it says it does now.

scottjonesqpr 03-23-2009 01:19 PM

I dont have a product-v3arcade.xml file?

scottjonesqpr 03-23-2009 01:21 PM

Yep same thing for me tried 3 installs on diferent servers.
The strange thing are that on a clean install with v3arcade 1.07 and the mod from skhms to suport v32 games all the games work.

The new code for v32 games in the latest arcade ads a new cookie i think that it might be something wrong there, because cleaning tempory files and cookies sometimes makes it work again.

scottjonesqpr 03-23-2009 03:07 PM

still have no trophy icon

aaaaaaaaaatttttttggggggggghhhhhhhhhhh

KW802 03-23-2009 03:16 PM

@Scottjonesqpr: Please PM a test account so I can take a look at the URL (or temporarily open it up for guest viewing)

@Mario & ConnKid: I'm experimenting a bit to see if I can recreate it.

Chadi 03-23-2009 05:52 PM

Forgive me if these questions have been asked:

1. What are the advantages of this mod over IPBProarcade?

2. Is it a requirement to validate your install path in order to access the games download section on v3arcade.com? It seems so, but I just want to confirm. I think this is not a good idea since I already have IPBproarcade installed. I have to remove that and install yours to validate. This is a bit of a pain.

Prettyeyes4you 03-23-2009 07:25 PM

Just installed on our test board and working OK so far. Will comment further after its been running awhile, got to let the hairy beasts have a go at it, if anybody can screw things up its them :D

xiMxAxPr0Bl3Mx 03-23-2009 10:06 PM

Thank you!

KW802 03-24-2009 12:17 AM

@Mario & @ConnKid: Just tried again with 1.0.9 and still can't duplicate it. I tried submitting a score and then hitting the browser back button, no problem. Submitting a score and hitting the "Play Again" link, no problem. Submitting a score, going back to the arcade, playing the same game, no problem. One of you guys/gals mind PM'ing me a link & username/password, along with the exact steps your're taking, so I can try it out first-hand?

connkid25 03-24-2009 10:00 AM

I narrowed down the problem. I mainly use IE8 now which is the cause. In FF everything is good. Im not sure about IE7 since I updated the browser before I installed the arcade. If I had to guess KW, your using FF?

RobbieZ 03-24-2009 10:31 AM

Do you still get transmission timeout's on games ?

Considering IE8 is only 20% compliant with web standards, I'd definitely look at using a browser that treats websites better. ;)
