I have file based attachments on my forum and when I change the post owner the attachments (thumbs too) no longer work.

This is a known issue, no fix so far.

My question still stands: will this ever be fixed?

I don't think this will happen in the next weeks.

I tried to find out more about the attachment-problems, but i fail.
I have compared the dataset from post and attachment before and after changing the owner, but there is no other change than username/userid.

Any other idea what it could be?

Attachments will not work if you are using filebased attachments.

Any serious consideration for this update? It would be a nice feature to have!

Good product, but it has a very important bug.
Create a thread, attach a few images, then change the owner of the thread.
Refresh the page. Thumbnails will disappear from the message.
Tested, provided that the attachmentes are stored in a file system

Yes, this is a known issue, known as "Moving file based attachments to the new user"

For those who wanted to use this mod with filesystem based attachments, import this .xml file. This .xml file has a small change made by me to fix that issue. Hope it helps someone and doesn't violate anything.

Getting ready to upgrade my forum to vb4, I have this product installed and I'm wondering will the owner changes I've made over the years carry over to vb4? Some of the posts I changed owners have attachments, will those also stay they way I put them or would they become orphaned if the posts revert to its original owner?

Unless you have some REALLY compelling reason to go to v4... And I'm yet to see one.... I advise against it, really.
