Edited: Got it working.

This is such a great mod! What a fabulous tool for webmasters!

I've made two pages so far. One with the style of my forums and one without.

With Forum Style: http://www.waltdisneyboards.com/view.php?pg=WDBpodcast

Without Forum Style: http://www.waltdisneyboards.com/view.php?pg=wdbhub

Thanks Logician!

At the bottom of the page 'priv_privatemessages.html' it says this:

"Note: As this webtemplate names starts with "priv_" it is hidden to everybody but admins in who is online."

But when I check the Who's Online display as a guest, it shows the admin viewing: "Unknown Location: priv_privatemessages.html"

Is there no way to hide this?

This is not default behaviour and you should be giving guests too much priviledges. Fix it like this:
vb admin cp/usergroup manager/Who's Online Permissions/ set these as no:
Can View Detailed Location Info for Users
Can View Detailed Location Info of Users Who Visit Bad / No Permission Locations
Can view actual location of user (filepath/url).

Do you have a good template to use for a NEWSLETTER that I could start with and customize for my purposes?

I'm not good at creating brand-new templates from scratch, but am good with tweaking something already created.

Thanks in advance.

No one interested in helping me with a newsletter template? :(

I want my guests to have those privileges with the exception of 'priv_privatemessages.html'.

I'm sorry but this is not possible. If you give guests to see everything in wol (even hidden urls), they will see that one too. Guests (actually even members) are not suppose to see such hidden urls in the first place. In your settings they will even see when an admin bans a user or doing something in the admin cp.

If you are determined to keep the setting like this, then edit your webtemplate and name it something like "donations.html" so people won't understand what it is about.

Hello Sir,

regarding my email ........ it's fixed, I did some trial and error by editing the

- USERCP_SHELL template and USERCP_SHELL_ICONS template

other question :

does your mod only support by default to address with "www" in the address ? because I tested by logging in to, for ex http://myforum-address (without www) and try to visit one of the webtemplate (for ex : view.php?pg=test) and I got the error don't have permission.

and I still don't get about the "accesskey" in your manual installation file, because I'm not a coder :confused:

Thank's for the mod :D

having www. in the url or not is not about this mod. If you login to your forum without www, your forum does not recognize you when you visit it with www (or vice versa).

so do you mean your mod can adjust to address without "www" also ?

I mean from each of your web template there are links : [edit] [remove] [visit] and by mouse over the link [visit] the address is, for ex http://www.myforum.com/view.php?pg=aboutus

even though I logged in to http://myforum.com/admincp/index.php

Thank's :)

Is it possible to list the webtemplates in a Sitemap using this mod?

Using or not using www. is not related to this mod or vbulletin. It is a server setting.

If you visit your board as http://www.myforum.com and login there, both vb and webtemplates will recognize you when you visit http://www.myforum.com/view.php?pg=aboutus

I don't use vbseo (or site map) myself but I remember they support such a feature. I believe I've seen some info about this in their support forum: http://www.vbseo.com

Where exactly do we upload this mod at? Which folder does it go under? Can someone help me please?

Hey Logician,

This is one of my favorite hacks and has been the favorite hack in my profile here for a couple of years. One quick question - I run a fixed theme now, and the test templates seem to ignore my forum's fixed width past the header. Everything after is it spanned 100%.

How do I go about fixin' this so that it stays inline with the rest of the forum?

Seems like related to header/footer. Are you sure you use vb header/footer with that webtemplate (rather than webtemplate header footer)?

Guest210212002 09-28-2008 01:57 PM

Yup, definitely using the vb H/F.

This is the page in question, but all the test pages do it.

Though the more I look at it, I think it's my custom header that's doing it.

I'm not sure if I can see the problem? Width of wt pages are same with the width of your forum home page for me.

I think you problem stems from your web temapltes not having this code:
Code:

<!-- open content container -->

<div align="center">
        <div class="page" style="width:980px; text-align:left">
                <div style="padding:0px 5px 0px 5px" align="left">

whilst the forum pages do. The code which closes these divs is also missing from your footer template for the webtamplate, but is in your forum.

Code:

                </div>
        </div>
</div>

<!-- / close content container -->

Check which templates your webtemapltesa are using for header/footer.

Your answer is in the FAQ document in post 2 of this thread.

Hi,

I am really interested in this mod. In the past I have been using Expression Engine to power my site. Is it possible to remove the /forums/ from the url for each page?

Where can I edit the style of $WT_Login and the topics on the test2 page?

Logician 10-03-2008 08:37 PM

If your forum is running on /forums/ webtemplates will also run on /forums/view.php.

If you want to run webtemplates on root, best method to do is to move your forum folder to root as well. If you wouldn't consider this, FAQ item 3 applies for you. ;)

$wt_login's style is inside "WebTemplates_LoginCode" template. Topics in test2 style should be edited in relevant webquery's Result Prefix Code, Query Result Row and Result Affix Code sections.

If you selected, a "theme" for this webtemplate, you don't need to add $header/footer. Just add your content.

If you didn't selected a theme (that is theme setting is set to "no parent webtemplate), then add whole HTML code to your page. Eg.

HTML Code:

$stylevar[htmldoctype]
<html dir="$stylevar[textdirection]" lang="$stylevar[languagecode]">
<head>
<title>Page Title</title>
$headinclude
</head>
<body>
$header
$navbar
<table width="100%" border="0" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0">
<tr>
<td valign="top">

 YOUR CONTENT

</td>
</tr>
</table>
$footer
</body>
</html>

On my end I got it almost working:

http://www.metalguitarist.org/forum/view.php?pg=lesson1

But MAN does the W3 validator go bananas on it. :(

jacks0_0 10-07-2008 02:47 AM

can i add other mods into my pages? EX: topxstats, shoutbox... please show me how I can do it :)

Chris11987 10-07-2008 08:42 AM

Do the templates have to be in the /forums/ directory, if that's where our forums are?

Well actually most of these syntax errors are inside your data text. What can I do about them? :)

Anyway don't mind it much. Your page loads fine and according to firefox firebug its syntax is ok.

Re: vBulletin 3.7.3
CMS Mod

FIXED
I tried to follow steps 1 - 3 of the instructions. I can see "Logiscian's Webtemplates" in the Left hand menu of the Admin CP. But, when I expand it to Export/import, I receive the following message:

Not Found
The requested URL /forums/admincp/wt_export.php was not found on this server.
Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

I must have done something wrong in the initial upload via my ftp. I felt like I followed the instructions but I'm really new to this. Where I got confused was when it said to upload all
files under forum directory. I uploaded the complete file there first.

Then, When it said upload to
Forum Root/admincp - I uploaded the entire admincp file for this hack into my admincp file. That concerned me because they are both labeled the same. Then, I loaded the contents of the file into the Admincp. This seemed redundant and now I'm wondering if I caused any damage to the BB,

Does anyone know what I should do at this point? Did I overwrite my Forum Root AdminCP and Forums Root includes files. How should I proceed ( besides very carefully - ouch )!

FIXED: Deleted files and uploaded again. Initial test came out fine
Thanks,

Rideharder 10-09-2008 03:52 PM

I had to say thanks again.. Upgraded to vBulletin® Version 3.7.3 and still works!

Logician, may I make a request for a new feature in a future update?

The ability to to put new content in the left column when you use the 2-column template.

In other words, every time I make a new 2-column template, I'd like to be able to edit content in the left column so that it's different for every 2-column template.

If this is possible now, I've not been able to do it. If it's not, please consider this for future releases.

Thank you!

You can merge 2 column template with your included webtemplate and post it as one. And then for each webtemplate you create you can change the column as you like.

Wouldn't this work?

Ohiosweetheart 10-10-2008 02:40 PM

Yes it would. How would I do this?

Just edit 2-column template theme, copy its content, change $includedtemplate section with your content and paste it as a new webtemplate (not theme, normal webtemplate) and don't select a theme for it. ;)
