I'm releasing some new background images for the iGallery V2.0 - these will be available as a pack. |
after working out how to move the files, it works great..
Thanks for your great mod :) |
can some explain to me how and what is procedure to make " Move pictures into the file system with direct access to thumbnails " because i must write some paths and url to my new storage for albums and thumbs .... can some explain what i must to do ...
must make new folders ?? thanks macc |

The first 2 fields require paths from your home directory, the url is relative to your forums. Example: (not not all hosting providers follow this example) /home/username/public_html/forums/albums/thumbs and /home/username/public_html/forums/albums vBulletin will add a new directory called '0' to both directories by default. You do not need to create more directories, they are already in the package and just need CHMODing to 777 - so they can be written to by your webserver. If you still need help PM me. |
Fantastic :D
I have been long awaiting this bridge and its well worth the wait :D |
syrus.xl, check your PM please.
|
WoW! outstanding job with the bridge! the instructions were right on the money and it works perfect.
thank you for your hard work. cmedic101 |
I had my pics already in the filesysteem so i put them back in the database and then placed them in your albums and albums/thumbs.
But it's only putting them in albums and it wont make any thumbs in the albums/thumbs folder. I tried rebuilding thumbs but with no luck. iGallery isn't working now...... |

For this to work check this instruction: Changing the Album Storage vBulletin System default Storage Type Follow this guide and everything will work correctly. First login to your vBulletin AdminCP, scroll down to User Albums, and now click on Album Picture Storage Type. Now select Action -> ?Move pictures into the file system with direct access to thumbnails?. Hope that works.. |

Stil no working iGallery. Pictures are stored in albums/0/ Thumbs in albums/thumbs/0/ These are my admincp settings albums albums/thumbs albums/thumbs/ |

This should fix the problem - I only updated the vb_igallery.swf file, so by overwriting this file it should fix that issue. BTW, the last line should be a path not a relative url. |
Thanks that fixed it, it's working the way it should :)
Now there one more issue. In IE7 i get an error saying: swfmacmousewheel is empty or is no object Line 61 on http://www.bodyresource.nl/forum/vb_igallery.php Checking in FF it says about the same: Line61 swfmacmousewheel has no properties Can you take a look what's the problem ? |
This is an issue I'm looking into... it relates to Apple users, using a mousewheeel for Zoom control of the globe. As soon as I find the problem it will be fixed. It doesn't actually cause a problem with the vB iGallery, but it's just one of those annoying little issues that is there.
I'm just coding a vBa CMPS module for this iGallery and using very similar coding, but slightly different calls which I'm hoping will fix this issue. If this works then I'll apply the same coding to the vb_igallery.php file. |
Ok thanks again for this great hack and your support !!

My host (hostgator) does not allow folders and files to be chmod to 777 is there a way around this at all? Has anyone got this installed on a normal hostgator package? I was told Id have to get a dedicated server

Hi Syrus, I've just installed this but the actual igallery is blank. The bg loads up but I'm getting no images. Any idea what I've done wrong?

You do not need a dedicated server to change permission settings on directories or files. If you require help on this, just PM me. Regards, Syrus |

Syrus,
I have just installed 2.02. It worked out nicely but I do have some questions for you. 1/ Quote:
Album pictures are currently being stored in the database Full Picture File Path: /public_html/albums/ This file path should be readable AND writeable by your web server (usually chmod 0777) Thumbnail File Path: /public_html/albums/thumbs/ This file path should be readable AND writeable by your web server (usually chmod 0777) URL to Thumbnails: What will it be??? (relative to main forum directory) What are the path for those three fields? I didn't change any paths on your instruction. 2/ Talking about the viewing permission, how am I going to limit guess or certain group to access/view the Gallery? 3/ When it pulls the images from user album, will it also pull the image description/caption there? 4/ I noticed that there is a script error somewhere on 2.0.2. I also see it on your demo site. I'm using xp sp3. But it is disappeared after I hit F5 |

Both of the first paths need to be full paths - these vary depending on your hosting provider. Typically, they will look something like this: /home/username/public_html/albums /home/username/public_html/albums/thumbs The third field is a relative url to your forums with a trailing slash - Example: /albums/thumbs/ You can pull the path information by using vBulletin Maintenance -> PHP info look under PHP variables for the paths. If you still have problems once these paths have been entered correctly, then perhaps your server requires 755 as a write permission, instead of 777. Captions are pulled from the database only when an image is viewed full size, it will be displayed within the multi-line description field of the iGallery. At the moment there are no viewing permissions setup. This was being held off, until the full admincp version was released with all bridges available. But this will probably change since this issue has been brought up a number of times. Some changes have been made to the vBulletin Bridge file already, this includes a limiter, so it stops loading too many images on large forums. The javascript I am aware of, and working on a fix for this issue. Let me know how you get on. |
Thanks Syrus. Please let me know when the fix is done for the script error. Also, I'd like to ask you if later on in time, I decide not to use this product anymore, how am I going to reverse or put all album images/thumbs back to where its original stage?

Looks awesome..
This is used more on picture based forums ? |

You can put images back into the database by using User Albums -> Album Storage Type and selecting database storage. This puts all images back into the vbulletin database, which is the default setting on 3.7. Optimizing vBulletin 3.7 does actually state not to store large amounts of images in the database due to 'bloating' it. But this is entirely upto the individual. |
