Hey gang, sorry for the long absence. We had a tragedy with one of our moderators last week and we only just learned that he had passed away from some serious injuries. Plus I had quite a few things on my end to take care of. I'll try to address everything within the week, if possible. Quite a few requests are starting to back up, and there's quite a few things I wanted to try out for the next update. So bear with me if you can.

The trick would be if GameTrailers offers any embeddable code for their High Def videos. But I'll look them over and see if there's a way to work around that.

I'm worried it's becuase I have my sites URL has a .au on the end, (www.popmag.com.au/a/b/c/d/xzy.mov) that it's causing troble. I guess I need to learn some RegEx.

That shouldn't be a problem, because the RegEx was made to account for that. But let me take a look at the definition again and see if I can troubleshoot what's causing your problem.

Thanks.

Could be that your file structure needs to be accounted for in the definition. But like I said, I'll look it over and see if I can spot what's wrong.

i try to fix the regex, coz its not working from the first time i install it. So perhaps you will see different lines of codes in page source.

This is only happened to imeem. other video / music site is working great :)
Thanks before :)

Sorry to hear about what happened man. We had a similiar incident on my last site with a fellow gamer.

I did install the AME mod, and all the .xml's I required. But for some reason it is not changing the links into video's. I tested Youtube and Google Video, and a few others with no success. Is there curtain tags I should be wrapping the link in?

I'll be sure to look that over. If I remember correctly, there was peculiarity with Imeem, but I can't quite remember what it was.

Please bear with me. I usually try to address all problems. I'm just getting a little backed up. ;)

Thank you. We've not really gotten our bearings since it happened. I racked my brain for several days trying to think of what I could do.

Double check your Settings and see if something there is turned off. Like for instance, your extract settings or your convert new media settings. Also make sure you don't have an additional hack still partially installed that did media conversion. That seems to be a common problem.

It just wasn't designed to extend beyond the postbit. The Geek said you can probably try to extend it yourself, but I have really tried that yet.

Dumb question, but i assume this has something to do with me running 3.7 - I dont see AMEs CP linked anywhere, other than the forum settings -> ame. Problem is, i dont see a way to import the xml file from DJ. What am i missing?

Hey, gang, sorry this is taken so long. This is going to take me longer then expected. I have a great deal of work backed up, not the least of which is getting my forum upgraded. Don't worry, I will return with updates.

They are all done a bit differently.

They don't look too different to me. Only one RegEx should be required. I will add it to the list of updates, just bear with me, as I mentioned in a previous post, I'm way behind on a lot of things.

schlottkej 06-14-2008 06:02 PM

If you can give me a few basic details on how they all work, I'd be happy to help you. I haven't found much in terms of documentation on the RegEx.

This FloCasts video feed with also allow anyone to post their track and swimming videos (swimming.flocasts.org, track.flocasts.org) so we probably want to write it for any number of sub domains.

Anyhow, I look forward to seeing what you come up with.

kansei 06-16-2008 12:43 AM

Any interest in getting this working with Flickr?

a stumbling block I see immediately is that a link to a flickr video looks just like a link to a flickr photo (says "photos" in the url and everything). I also don't see a link between the number in the URL and in the embedded flash on the resulting page.

oz_moses 06-16-2008 12:14 PM

G'Day DJ, thanks heaps for the extra definitions here.

I've been trying in vain to get the blip.tv to work to this movie I uploaded today of our new kittens ;)

It does embed a blip.tv movie, and the "Blip (Permalink)" link in the header goes to the correct blip.tv video, however the embedded movie is a different one altogether!

Cheers for any assistance, Moses.

I can't remember what happened the last time I tried Flickr, but I suspect it was as you said, with the Image and Video URLs being identical. I'll look at it again.

It's loaded the right one on my site. Try removing the Blip regex and reimporting it.

Burley 06-28-2008 02:59 PM

Great add-on!! I installed it inmediately!

But I have one question/issue with the brightcove code
As you said the websites regularly change the code, and brightcove did, sadly I'm not able to produce the correct string for AME to work with this video.
Can you please be of some assistance?

This is the code from your XML file:
Code:

And this is the code brightcove currently uses;
Code:

http://link.brightcove.com/services/link/bcpid1126114367/bclid1133242044/bctid1551027742

I tried to edit it and came up with this;
Code:

but it's not working :)

Digital Jedi 06-29-2008 03:24 AM

Mm, I'm not at home at the moment, so I can't check the RegEx for sure until Monday at the earliest. But at first glance, I'd say its' because you don't have a grouping for the $p1, etc. in the embed code to reference. I can't quite remember if BrightCove refrences the URL or if it has to use the alternate RegEx group, but the meat and potatoes of the video (meaning the actual source location of where the video is physically stored on their server) needs to be referenced from either a group in the URL (which referes to characters wrapped in parenthesis in the RegEx code) or a group in the Optional RegEx code (a set of chracters wrapped in parenthesis in the option regex group). You have no groupings in your RegEx, so that might be the problem.

Burley 06-29-2008 06:31 AM

Well, to be honest, I really have no clue how to put together the code. I just tried something. So I'm kinda lost, even with your feedback :)

Digital Jedi 07-03-2008 07:38 AM

Gang, I'm working on catching up on all your requests tonight. As usual, there appear to be some quirks with certain sites. Some are working, some aren't. Some have changed their URL and embed structures. Some have just done some downright peculiar things to their content. I will try to catch up on all queries you've left me over the last few pages as well as the PMs you've sent me tonight and tomorrow. Thanks for hanging on.

Hairy Bologna 07-03-2008 09:49 PM

Would have worked, but their videos are hosted all over the place. And this mod will only replicate one embed code per site. Now, I did notice that most of the sites used are already supported, so pulling the permalink from most of those vids should work.

Well gang, sorry this is taking longer then expected. I did not get to work on this all day, and it's getting late here as it is. My apologies for the delay, but please keep me apprised if any videos stop working.

nautiboy 07-04-2008 07:03 AM

First, thanks for this! It's very cool.

Second, has anyone already figured out how to get it to work with videos that are hosted with gallery2? I use gallery2 on my site to host the videos so I'd like to be able to embed them in the forum posts too.

You need to actually parse the gallery page to get to the actual content. You can see an example if you go to this video on my site:

http://www.baue.org/images/galleries...3Edge.mov.html

Obviously one other thing that needs to be fixed is to search for .mov.html (or wmv.html), but that's pretty easy. The harder part is parsing the page to figure out that the actual video is http://www.baue.org/images/galleries...2-4/E3Edge.mov.

It would be even cooler if you could also parse the actual width and height, but I don't think you specify that dynamically with AME, can you?

Digital Jedi 07-05-2008 03:20 AM

With a minor edit to the Locally Hosted definitions, you should be able to get it to work with those. I'll look into it.

They're not providing embed code, from what I can see. Maybe if they add that later I can add them to the definitions.

Well, I generally wont make a definition if embed code isn't readily available, but if it appears the admin doesn't mind it, then it shouldn't be a problem.

AndyA 07-06-2008 07:27 PM

OK thanks again, I'll keep my fingers crossed.

SBlueman 07-07-2008 11:17 PM

I am looking for media definitions for more porn sites outside of redtube which is already supported. We have a VIP section where members over 18 can post XXX rated videos but they have been clamoring for more options outside of the only supported site.

Can anyone help?

schlottkej 07-08-2008 04:45 PM

DJ, thanks in advance man, so excited over here to check it out :)

Digital Jedi 07-10-2008 05:22 AM

Well gang, I'm almost finished up on this next cycle (and I use the word "cycle" loosely). This set has been tough, but enlightening. I managed to add a couple of sites to the no-fly list, but fortunately, I've managed to take a bunch off. There's one or two imperfect versions that I'll share with you ("imperfect" meaning they mostly work, but not to the capacity I'd like) and some that I'd like for you to test for me. All in all, I'd say this is the largest set of definitions I've release since I initially gathered together all the old ones when first starting this thread.

Also, I'd like to know if there are as many AME users as there are users of these definitions. AME is already at 1390 installs and we're at 154. So be sure to click in Install if you haven't already and are using the definitions in AME.

schlottkej 07-10-2008 05:34 PM

Awesome, ill keep checking back for the release :)

schlottkej 07-12-2008 02:38 PM

Well done DJ, Thanks for the help :)

Does anyone know how to get vBulletin to change the URL directly into a video without editing the post?

Digital Jedi 07-12-2008 03:56 PM

UDPATES!

Alright gang, you asked for it. We've reached a milestone today! Along with the current updates, we've reached an all-time high of...

**155 TOTAL DEFINITIONS FOR VIDEOS, GAMES, AUDIO AND MORE**

Today's updates include fixes for some current definitions, some previous requests that didn't initially jibe, some new requests and some things you didn't ask for but are getting any way. Why? Because I'm that obsessive... at least that's what my wife calls it. First things first...

UPDATED DEFINITIONS
IMPORTANT: I've updated a few of our old definitions. Remember, imported definitions do not overwrite. YOU MUST DELETE OR DISABLE YOUR OLD COPIES BEFORE IMPORTING COPIES FOR THE SAME SITE. Otherwise, your videos will show up as double nested players. Here's the list of updated definitions:

YouTube: Why did this need an update? GreeceMonkey turned me on to the this. Have you noticed that some of the newer YouTube videos have an option to watch the video in higher resolution? This new definition will detect if that video has a high res option and embed that one automatically. No fuss, no muss on the users end or yours. Whether they post the high res URL or not, it will still convert and show the high res one by default.

BooMP3: This new version will account for most foreign language characters that are part of a lot of the URLs, with the exception of Asian characters. Still no fix for those, I'm afraid.

Amazon (Links) & (Thumbnails): There's a reason for this update which I'll explain just little further down.

MLG: The Game Room: Some of the URLs at gameroom.mlgpro.com no longer have .html appended to the end of them, while their permalinks still do. This new definition will account for the difference.

NEW & UPDATED LOCAL HOSTED DEFINITONS
I've completely updated the existing Local Hosted Definitions, as I've never really needed to use them before, and only now took a good look at them. Some of the changes were only to the RegEx used, so you may not notice a difference on a couple. But all are revamped code that you've never used before, changes to height and width that should look better on most boards, and a new customizable title for your container. You may want to delete your old ones to try these out. Most notably:

MP3: This is a totally revamped MP3 player from the one you are currently using. This one is thinner, more sleek and fully customizable. I'll post more information about where it's from and how you can make changes to the code and buttons with relative ease.

DIVX: I didn't realize there wasn't a definition for this format. So know you've embed all those old Stage6 videos you downloaded, background fader and all.

QuickTime: There was definition floating around my hard drive someone else had made that had the resizable aspect ratio code in it, and I'm not sure if that's the one I had made available here. But just in case, here's the revamped version. It's not perfect, especially in IE, but it's waaaaaaaaaay better then what you'd have otherwise.

NEW DEFINITONS
Here's the big list of new stuff. Please read, as a lot of this stuff is important.

Newsclipper: Please see post two for more information about Newsclipper.org. If you don't read it, you'll be scratching your head as to what all that white space is. ;)

Amazon (aStore): You've now got a definition for those of you running an Amazon aStore. This is important. You must delete and install the new version of Amazon (Thumbnails) or Amazon (Links) before using this Amazon (aStore). You can use one or the other with aStore, but you MUST update the one you use before trying to use the aStore or you'll run into ugly formatting problems.

CafePress (Thumbnails): You can know embed CafePress store items into posts just like the Amazon (Thumbnails).

Lively: Special thanks to c4smok for turning me onto this. Google now has virtual 3D chat rooms that you can create with impunity, apparently. This definition will embed those rooms into posts. Logged in users will see the 3D room. Logged out or unregistered users will only see a screen shot of the room. I really like this one.

PC Planets: This site provides music in multiple formats. Everything from flash, to RealMedia to QuickTime files to MP3s. You name it, they've got every song in at least two formats, at the most 5. However, to make a usable regex that would embed every instance of a particular song, posting the URL to any format, even audio only, will convert to the corresponding Flash Video. In a handful of cases, you'll only get the MP3 as a flash player because that's all they have available. Nevertheless, this really wont affect your users much, but at least, you can explain it to them, if they wonder why the .wmv link they posted turned into a flash video.

Amazon (aStore)
CafePress (Thumbnails)
Clarin
Dorks
eBaum's World (Videos)
eBaum's World (Audio)
Flickr Slideshows (Photostreams)
Flickr Slideshows (Sets)
Flickr (Videos)
Flowrestling
IGN
KillSomeTime
Layartancap
Lively
Nonoba
Newsclipper
PC Planets
PC Planets (MetaCafe Videos)
PC Planets (YouTube Videos)
UOL Carros
UOL Cinema
UOL Crian?as
UOL Divers?o e Arte
UOL Economia
UOL Elei??es
UOL Esporte
UOL Estilo
UOL M?sica
UOL Not?cias
UOL Olimp?adas
UOL Tecnologia
UOL Videolog
vidiLife
Vreel
World Star Hip-Hop
Yatahonga
ZippyVideos (Zippy Player Only)

You'll also notice I got a bunch of currently "no-fly" sites working again. Most notably eBaum's World (Audio) and (Video), KillSomeTime, Yatahonga and (Woo Hoo!) IGN are back again or finally working. Yes, UOL.BR is all in one file. So you wont have to import them one at a time.

As always, updates are added to the Master XML Files and the Main ZIP. And today, a new set of Local Hosted videos was added as well.
