If anyone is still having a problem with the text file resetting, PM me and I will let you test the new version. I have re-written the pagehits code and now there is no setting required for the forumhome_pagehits filename and path. It now resides in your forums directory.

flipstyle 05-14-2008 02:40 AM

Does anyone know how I can move the site life status into the forums default statistics box to the right of threads, posts, members etc?

princeedward 05-17-2008 04:05 AM

million thanks for the new update Bro. Boofo... ;)

Boofo 05-17-2008 04:10 AM

Are we happy now? ;)

i hope so...Bro...hope this is the final stable release now and not to have or encounter any problem anymore...btw...i thought we're gonna have the one from rob30UK Style:

Site Age: Years, Month, Days, Hours, Minutes, And Seconds

can we edit or add it somewhere?

anyway thanks again...

;)

Boofo 05-17-2008 06:17 AM

Well, the only way it can mess up now is if everything else messed up first as this now uses the db datastore. Foolproof, as much as possible.

The rob30UK style won't be accurate as it doesn't account for months with 31 days, or February with 28 days. And weeks was not added as the days would never get over 7 in the count.

Take another look as the AND part was added in the new version.

princeedward 05-17-2008 08:00 AM

opppsss...:rolleyes: i guess i don't have that AND thing...hmmm...

and also how come you got this Average hits per day: # to your site...and we don't? ;)

Boofo 05-17-2008 08:27 AM

Did you completely uninstall and reinstall like the instructions said to?

The 'Daily visitors to this page average:' is something I am working on now and will be testing. An after-thought, if you will.

yes i do comletely uninstall and reinstall as the instruction said...but i really don't have the (and) thing, dunno why instead...only comma (,) still using vb3.6.8 here...maybe that's the problem too? not 100% compatible? and btw...it really looks good too with that new addon below..(Average visits to this page:)maybe we can have it all... :p

thanks and best regards...

Check the phrases as the 'and' is now there after the words 'minute' and 'minutes'. This will work the same with 3.6.8 as it does with 3.7.

It is showing fine on your forumhome page. You can set the starting hit count to whatever you want to in the settings.

okay...just add it manually now...:p thanks bro...

Boofo 05-18-2008 06:59 AM

That is strange. That should have been there unless the phrases didn't get replaced.

Keyser S?ze 05-18-2008 07:36 AM

boofo where in the lang/phrases are your phrases cuz i frankly dont see it

Boofo 05-18-2008 08:07 AM

Lok in the XML file towards the bottom and it will show you the names of the phrases used for this mod.

i understand but im saying if i wanted to edit the phrase where wwould i go cuz in lang & phrases i see nothing for site life status, even by doing a search i get nothing

Boofo 05-18-2008 09:16 AM

Then you need to do a search in phrases for the text you want to change. You can find them that way, also. If you open up the XML file, it will tell you what the phrase names are in the phrases section, towards the bottom.

Keyser S?ze 05-18-2008 09:23 AM

Why do you want to do that when the site start date is in the line above? That would be redundant.

chrisdaman77 05-18-2008 10:01 AM

Thanks for the update Bob. Been away for a while so had not been able to do the updates I have needed. This is still one of the best ones I use

thats why, my site started back in 2003, and what only 829 visitors? ;p

Boofo 05-18-2008 10:42 AM

The start date and the starting hit count are now in the settings for this mod. Please read the install file more carefully.

Keyser S?ze 05-18-2008 11:01 AM

how am i suppose to know how many hits ive had in the last 5 years? i just want to put "since blah blah"

Andreas 05-18-2008 11:10 AM

PHP Code:

if ($vbulletin->options['site_lifestatus_enable'] AND THIS_SCRIPT == 'index')
{

$vbulletin->db->query_write("
        UPDATE "
TABLE_PREFIX "datastore
        SET data = data + 1
        WHERE title = 'boofocounter'
    "
);

Why not
PHP Code:

$db->shutdown_query("
    UPDATE "
TABLE_PREFIX "datastore
    SET data = data + 1
    WHERE title = 'boofocounter'
"
);

on forumhome_complete?

=> Less code to process less often, yet same result (if you also remove the unnecessary option to turn off the feature -> if users want to turn it off they will simply disable the product).

Boofo 05-18-2008 11:13 AM

OK, here's what you do. You go to user id 1's account and look at their join date. Use that as the site start date. Then calculate how many hits you "think" you've had and enter that in the hits setting. This is not rocket science. ;)

How it that going to process less often? It will still run on every page refresh, right? I am running that in the global_shutdown hook already.

Andreas 05-18-2008 11:22 AM

Currently the code is on global_shutdown, eg. being executed on every page.

But due to the condition it does the query only when the current script is index.php (forumhome).

So why not execute it just for index.php and avoid the condition on all other pages?
I don't see a reason for putting the code in a global place when there is an appropriate hook forumhome_complete that has exactly the context you want ;)

Boofo 05-18-2008 11:26 AM

OK, that makes sense. Code moved and setting deleted.

Can the starting count setting code stay in global_shutdown or should that be moved also?

And thanks for the heads up, sir. You know when you speak, I listen. ;)

Andreas 05-18-2008 11:28 AM

I'd remove that from frontend code and handle it completely within ACP:
Make appropriate plugins for the misc.php ACP script and let the user set the start there - no need for an option.

Boofo 05-18-2008 11:39 AM

OK, you lost me on that one. How would they set it?

sensimilla 05-18-2008 02:16 PM

Ive reinstalled it and now the visitors count is stuck at 0.

Boofo 05-18-2008 02:37 PM

Read the install file and do the file edit.
