yes - I imagine you are logged in on firefox but not on IE. See https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showpost....&postcount=144

If that's not the case, let me have more details and I'll investigate.

I am definitely logged in. When I first uploaded all the files to my server and installed, I tested it out on IE, as I use firefox normally, and it just says my board has encountered a database error. I haven't edited any of the files on my server and only configured a few things in the LDM admin settings. It works perfectly fine on firefox so I don't get it!

It's quite possible I've messed up the coding - quite a bit of version 2.2.9 is new, which is why it's still in alpha. Maybe you can post some more details of the error and I can investigate?

There is no actual error though? All that happens is I type in mydomain.com/forum/local_links.php on internet explorer and it says my domain has a database error (the default main vbulletin DB error you get sometimes). Something just seems dodgy with the compatibility of IE and the database for LDM.

I think you'll find the problem is fixed by uploading this file into your forum/includes directory. The problem is not with IE, it's with users who do/do not have moderate permission, and an undeclared global variable relating to moderation. I can reproduce the bug that you report.

Thank you so much. :D It's working right now.

EDIT: Now I have an issue with the jukebox lol. It loads up fine and looks good etc but it won't play any files at all. At it also says 0.00 time/0%.

I know the file has definitely uploaded in the entry because I can download it.

I'll need a bit more information to help. Which file types, which media player, etc. Does it not work/work with mp3s, wmas, etc? Am happy to take a look at your if you want.

I have all the default settings that you set up. I added an mp3 extension to the attachments.
I upload the mp3 file and when I went to play it, the jukebox windows comes up but nothing plays and it doesn't look like there is anything to play.

However I am definitely sure the file does upload because I clicked the option to download it and it works.

i have two requests for the new version (if possible)
1 - could you please make a plugin for LDM that allows me add multiple links for one entry? (useful for freehost linkings, since they don't work with the mirror system)
2 - in vba_modules, could you please add an option to paginate the entries that are shown...
example: i have set 200 entries to show, but want on each page 100 entries...

thanks

would be very helpful to have this

Truly amazing mod that's for sure, thanks for adding what I need. Only complaint I got left is how do I get rid of the bars in between the categories randomly?

http://www.pspcrazy.com/forums/local_links.php : The separators shouldn't be there. Now If only there was that SEO feature mentioned above in there, then I'd be in heaven :) Awesome mod for sure.

The category bars aren't random. They appear between groups of categories with different 'display orders'. I'm at a hotel PC at present, so can't check the code, but I think you get rid of these altogether by editing the links_linkseparator template. I'll post a follow-up message later.

With LDM's home page statistics turned off, 2.2.8 and 2.2.9 seem pretty well identical in speed.

However, 2.2.9 has more home page stats options, and these can be quite expensive. I'll take a look at the code to see if they can be speeded up.

i think i found the reason why LDM gets slow....
ONLY on pages, where i have set display order for each category, LDM slow down. in other cases it's working as fast as 2.2.8 or maybe faster....

[/B]don't know what's up.... HELP!

Your second problem is caused by mixed code - the local_links_vbafunc.php file was introduced in 2.2.9. I imagine you've got the 2.2.9 vba modules installed.

I will try to pin down the first problem - the code in question is trying to strip bbcodes and is looping indefinitely.

RikiB 03-04-2008 07:07 PM

I installed 2.2.9 and its so close to perfect for what I need. It addresses almost everything that I wanted in 2.2.8. Is there any word on if playlists will be available with the JW flv player? I wonder if would be easy since I think the JW mp3 player accepts playlists.

Thanks!

Rouzbeh1 03-04-2008 08:21 PM

i'm not sure but i think it would be enough to add XML to the player file types for JW media player ( Filetypes handled: mp3, xml) + maybe you will need to add it in vb attachment table

RikiB 03-04-2008 08:46 PM

interesting, Ill give that a shot, thanks!

RikiB 03-04-2008 10:53 PM

It almost works, I added it to the attachment table and also the media player and it brings up the flv player but it acts like it cant find the videos, the videos are in the same folder and the xml is just calling the filename like normal. Anyone know why its not working?

Riki

Rouzbeh1 03-04-2008 10:57 PM

maybe because the files are not in the forum root.
try to put a full url of your video in the xml files

RikiB 03-04-2008 10:57 PM

ahh, I really need to avoid that..its imperative that I use the "stream" feature.

do you mean full server url, like home/usernane/public_html

Rouzbeh1 03-04-2008 11:04 PM

as far as i know videos are downloadable with several tools if one wants to download them.
but LDM is streaming the files, so it normally shouldn't give out the url.

i your files are on the same webspace, try linking files like this example:

video.flv is in: /home/user/public_html/some/folder/video.flv
and forum is in: /home/user/public_html/forums/
link to file will be : ../some/folder/video.flv

RikiB 03-05-2008 12:05 AM

I want it to be as secure as possible, I even tried using orbit downloader with the stream option on a single FLV and it failed to download it...very encouraging. I also tried pointing to /home/use/download in the xml and it didnt seem to work, Ill keep trying

Riki

There are some sensitivities with this - I think I got them sorted out for direct streaming of mp3s, flvs and swfs - as I recall, it's about getting the paths correct as far as the flash is concerned, and ensuring everything is properly urlencoded so that the javascript doesn't croak. I'll take a look at the playlist code to see if they will work with streams.

Sorry about that. There's a bug in includes/local_links_vbafunc.php. You need to upload a revised version which is available in https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showpost....&postcount=165

I'll put this in the thread start when I get the chance.

Thanks a million! And imo as long as we don't pay for your products, you have nothing to be sorry about.

Thank you kindly for all hard work done!

I've got streamed playlists working within the jwplayer on my testbed. How do you plan to use them - will you create the xmls yourself and use them as entries in LDM, or do you also need them creating from within LDM?

RikiB 03-06-2008 06:21 PM

Creating them myself is easy enough, so I dont mind doing it. Sounds exciting that you got it working!

Riki

I seem to be having a problem with using a download manager with IE7, it only downloads the small local_links.php file instead of the actual file. Has anyone heard of this and how to fix it? The download manager I was trying was "free download manager".

I imagine you'll find that the small php file contains a web page telling you that you don't have access to the file. Probably, FDM is coming in as an unregistered user, so it will be something to do with cookies.

RikiB 03-06-2008 09:41 PM

You hit the nail on the head Andrew, thank you, I figured out the problem. (cookies)

AndrewD 03-09-2008 08:56 AM

I've reuploaded the alpha 3 release with the most serious bugs fixed:

09.03.08 version 2.2.9 alpha 4

- SQL error when some users (usually unregistered) visit the home page
- Pathological nesting of bbcodes causing infinite loop
- Entries possible from users with special characters in their usernames
- Error handling of *upload_maxspace* setting
- PHP error message displayed on ratings page
- Bluga.net webthumbs recoded to add new options, allow per-category use, improve reliability

Beta 1 is on its way in a few days with the following changes:

Category synchronisation
- Default owner of synced entries/categories changed to owner of category in which the entry/category is placed

Admin
- IP/userid-based hits analyses subgrouped by username/IP
- Option added to accumulate all hits from user's IP address against that user's allowances

Mirrors
- Mirror selection page includes response times for each alive mirror

Extras
JWplayer extra extended to handle xml playlists and to use the Silverlight player for windows media

Help needed

I would very much welcome reports on the *swfupload* extra that was included in alpha3/alpha4, which provides a progress bar and greater reliability for monitoring uploads

Rouzbeh1 03-09-2008 02:45 PM

updated without any complications
thanks

There are no changes in the vba modules between alpha 3 and 4, so should be no need to reinstall.

Beta 1 is coming quite soon....

This is generally a limit in the php configuration of your website. You need to get your system admin to edit the configuration and set the parameters post_max_size and upload_max_filesize to the size you wish to accept. Bear in mind that standard large uploads are not always reliable.

I have added an 'extra' with the 3.7 release (see extras dircetory) which uses the 'swfuploader' utility to provide more robust handling of larg uploads.
