Yes they were there but I could not get them to display on the main page when your not registered. And I did remove that coding as noted as well. Am I missing something

I did get his and install it. But to be honest I'm not going to keep it. Way too complicated to set up.

Add one variable to one template and turn on/ or off 2 settings plus change any messages you wish to? I'm not seeing anything amazingly difficult or complex.

Hi, I managed to get the message to display for guest. But for the rest of the criteria it doesnt display. Is there a way edit the messages. like prompting users awaiting confirmation to activate their account and how to go about doing it.

Thanks

All the notices are controlled through the notices manager in your vbulletin admin control panel.

yes you can edit the messages. basically, this hack adds some standard messages that you go in and edit in the notices area; for example, unconfirmed user is added where you can go in and edit the notice for them. if you're not seeing the additional messages, you may need to uninstall and reinstall, perhaps? just upgrading did not work for me. i had to uninstall the product and reinstall when i went to 3.7.

ALil'Hope 06-03-2008 12:14 AM

How come when I remove the default message and upload the product guests don't see notice?

If you've upgraded from an earlier version and not reverted all your templates please see https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showpost....&postcount=152. If you have this code already, please let me know.

ALil'Hope 06-03-2008 05:48 AM

I have that code in my navbar, and I'm not upgrading. I have also reverted my forum home template.

liselotte 06-04-2008 12:09 AM

it works now.

Not upgrading? What version are you using?

ALil'Hope 06-04-2008 07:07 PM

Ah I misunderstood you. Yes I have upgraded to 3.7.1 and have reverted my templates.

Ted S 06-04-2008 07:32 PM

So to confirm, the rules show up in the notices manager, the code is in your templates and when you view your site as a guest nothing shows up?

adivor 06-05-2008 08:34 AM

If nothing is showing up in the notices manager, remove the plugin and reinstall it. If something is showing up, let me know what.

ALil'Hope 06-07-2008 02:55 PM

It seems the product isn't updating my templates...

""Exciting Announcement! vBulletin 3.7.0 now includes a built in Welcome Headers System (named "Notices") that easily allows you to add and control your own welcome messages with functionality above what can be found in the traditional welcome headers system. There are some important differences in these systems so please read this thread before upgrading. ""

Look in ACP for NOTICES MANAGER , it is a standard part of vB 3.7 , this mod enhances the notices in that section.

ALil'Hope 06-07-2008 04:24 PM

Well I can get the normal notices to work, but when I install the product, nothing shows up.

Nothing shows up where? This plugin creates notices in the notices manager. It does not edit templates or anything related to them. Are you seeing notices in the notices manager when you install this? If not, are you getting errors during the install?

ALil'Hope 06-07-2008 04:26 PM

Ok here is what happens. Before I install this the notices work when I put them in manually. After I install this no notices show up at all. They are set to active though.

Edit - It works now.

MorrisMcD 06-17-2008 02:53 AM

Have you reverted / updated your templates to include the notices variable call?

I had to update the notices once and now they show.

Thanks

munnakv 06-22-2008 12:30 PM

Thanks for this mod. This is the first mod I ever installed in my forum and it works flawlessly.

EvilJohn 06-29-2008 09:39 PM

Strange. I could not get Welcome_headers or limited_guest_viewing mods to work.

I suspect its because I have already changed my parent ForumHome templates many times for other mods.Plus a custom style. So that the block of code you state to remove is not even there.
This is what I have relating to guests.

Code:

<if condition="!$show['guest']">
                <!-- member logout -->
                <td align="$stylevar[right]"><a href="login.php?$session[sessionurl]do=logout&amp;logouthash=$bbuserinfo[logouthash]"  onclick="return log_out()"><phrase 1="$bbuserinfo[username]">$vbphrase[log_out_x]</phrase></a></td>
                <!-- end member logout -->

I am happy though. I used your ideas. Thank you. I just created the the same messages using the default notice system.

Edit: Limited guest viewing now working. Reinstalled. I failed some where on the 1st install. :p

SSJB_7 07-29-2008 10:17 AM

i cannot find it anywhere i tried to install it multiple times

psylenced 07-29-2008 10:21 AM

Can you modify this product to add a plugin (cache templates).

What that does is removes from:
<!-- guest welcome message -->

to

<!-- / guest welcome message -->

in memory.. eg same as auto-templates but the reverse (removing code).

Have you reverted your navbar templates to take advantage of the vb 3.7 notices system variables?
