Sorry. it's Download / Upload Plugins then at the bottom of that page theres a section for "Import Plugin Definitions XML File" click Browse, select the vbtube_wol_data.xml and voila :D

possibly, I don't have a vbseo license to check.. trying temporarily disabling it and then trying vBTube again, if it's that causing the problem I'll have a word with the vBSeo developers and see if theres some fix we can come up with.

I have vBseo installed on my website too. But mine vBtube is working fine without any single error till now.

Thnx for this nice mod. Nominated for MOTM

I would ask your host to check the script and see if theres anything they are blocking which is stopping it from working for you.

My fantastic hosting company told me that they can not go through your code line by line looking for whats being blocked.

Can anybody recommend a good dedicated hosting company? I am tired of this company and its bullshit.

You could try removing:
Code:

if (session_id() == "") {
    session_start();
}

from the start of the vBTube/vBTube.php file. That might fix that, but I don't have CMPS installed to check that..

Thanks efc9 :) I tried that, it got rid of the last error but the 1st 4 are still there :(

Nickbe 10-15-2007 06:19 AM

In the meantime is anybodies forum hosted by netfirms.com and if so is this working for you?

efc9 10-15-2007 06:30 AM

Sorry Nickbe, looks like it definetly it something your host is blocking that is stopping the script from working.. I'm guessing it's the XML or PEAR that might be a problem.

Hosting wise I'm with http://www.clook.co.uk/ and have never had a problem, they have always been on hand whenever I have needed them.

hmmm. pm me the code you've used to integrate it into CMPS, and I'll see if I can figure things out for you.

Sorry I missed this error, forum threads are not the best way of dealing with the support of a hack :(

Do you get any other errors on the page?

yoyoyoyo 10-15-2007 09:41 AM

I fixed the errors indicated above - they were not caused by this hack, but instead by an overriding php.ini file I had in my forum directory. Sorry for the bother.

One thing that I find to be very confusing is that when I view the vBTube.php file it indicates to indicate and imply that the uploaders of the videos are members of my forum, instead of youtube members, because when I look at the links under their names it says (for example):

http://mysite.com/forum/vBTube.php?do=user&uname=fred_flintstone

and I do not have a member by that name. When I click on their name it takes me to a page with all of the rest of their uploadeed videos, which is cool. but confusing as heck, beacuse it seems to imply that they are a member of my forum. I don't know what you can do to change that, but just wanted you to know that it confused a few of my members as well. Maybe something above their name that says "youtube member: fred_flintstone"

Before in the who's online (currently active users) people browsing vBTube showed up as at an "unknown location". With the WOL plugin added it now shows them as located in a known part of the forum.

Installed and set up

http://www.musclemecca.co.uk/forum/vBTube.php

How do I change the videos displayed on the main page though? Just now it is showing featured videos from youtubes homepage but what do I change to show a search term there, or even a users video collection.

Thanks

2. I second this!! I think that woould make this perfect and a HUGE add-on for vb.

plus, if you do this, may I suggest making it so we can help contribute the xml to add new video sites to this add-on... so you aren't stuck continually adding new sites (which I guarantee you will get repeated requests for as there are like a millino video sites that people use and request).

3. of course, the next suggestion after that is to upload video directly. I know I know...but its such a natural next suggestion and would be a killer add-on. I know its been a requested add-on, and you have the baseline here. :D maybe cut out the middle man and work with other add-ons looking at the same thing? (ie: AME or vbAnyMedia add-ons).

great job anyway. :)

ahh...also, suggestion:

Need comments! (comment on videos)
I mean, its vb... so it seems silly to not utilize comments via vbull threads/comments!
:)

and change to:
Code:

if ((!$_GET['do'] || $_GET['do'] == ''))

                $search='<insert search term>';
    $_GET['do'] = 'search';
}

replace <insert search term> with your search term and that'll show the search instead of the featured videos on the frontpage.

If I remove the featured videos and add my own terms as listed above how can I add the featured videos to the left side navigation?

efc9 10-15-2007 02:34 PM

Theres already links to featured & most popular sections on the left side nav.

1. Thanks :D

2. I'm not quite sure how I could handle the adding of multiple sites but it's something for the future most definetly..

3. I've found a PHP Class for uploading videos to youtube and I'm going to look into that in more detail soon.

Your host has restrictions in place that stop this script from working, You'll need to speak to them about allowing access for this script.

Roxie 10-15-2007 02:48 PM

Would be great to have comments. Or even the ability to save favorites. Anyway, installed and works great. :)

awesome!

as for #3... cool. but I was thinking more for uploading directly to the forums (ie: become our own video hosting site). that said, youtube direct upload is a great idea too (though I prefer megavideos or others as they have much bigger file size limits and don't delete material as much. again, see 2).

this a beautiful GREAT idea for an add-on though...keep up the great work! :)
