Hey iso, great effort! What can we do to help you out?

Here's the info on what the safari debug menu can do. There some info on how to set debug points in your code, too.

http://developer.apple.com/internet/....html#anchor14

Capabilities seem quite extensive. Any further instructions on what to do with it?

Also, note well, there is now a v3 Safari beta available for windows that you can use. Check the apple site for that beta.

On your site I get two " messages, one for 'showbody' and the other for 'proxy'.

Anything that will help foil Trolls, even if it has a few drawbacks is ace in my book. If nothing else I can use this to keep them out until they decide to stop trying and move on to another board.

Ditto ^THAT^!

I have a couple of 'problem children' that are always trying to get into my forum.

Can't wait till this is out of beta!! whoo hooo!:D

kofoid 06-24-2007 01:06 AM

This hack rocks!!!! But a bunch of people on my site use safari :(:( I hope you get that bug worked out!

isosdcftp 06-24-2007 10:23 PM

Thanks for the encouragement guys! Good news, I figured out the issues with safari!
Well, at least it works on the windows version, I assume it will work on Macs too. :)
Expect a update real soon.

TheMilkCarton 06-24-2007 10:47 PM

It may not work on the Mac version until they actually release 3.0 for the Mac. :)

I have access to Safari on both Mac and Windows so I can help out if need be.

scan-pa 06-24-2007 11:44 PM

The current version of this hack does not cause problems with the win version of the safari beta browser.

We need the Mac version problem fixed asap please.

Censtudios 06-25-2007 12:26 AM

most schools use proxies too... will it block those too?

Tulsa 06-25-2007 08:58 PM

It's working for the MAC Safari, it just shows your footer when it gets redirected.

download the version in post #137

It uses javascript to determine if the current domain matches the forum's domain.
So what about Frames? I'm going to be redoing a forum where all links to the forum from the main website keep the forum in a frame (The frame was used as a site navigation bar).

So, the domains will still match, but I'm not sure if you mean JUST the domain, or if the entire URL has to match.

I also saw someone mentioned on the first page that it was "too bad iFrames couldn't be used" or something to that extent, and you didn't seem to correct them, so I assume frames are a no go? :(

I think this mod is a great idea. A few things that might be helpful... I still want to allow users that have javascript disabled. For one, the search engine bots come in like that and who knows what this will do to them. It would be nice if that could be an option. How much would that reduce the effectiveness? For some, 50% is better than nothing (while still allowing non-javascript browsers if possible).

Second, someone else had a good idea of only using this for the register page. Since registration IPs are permanently logged, that is really all that is necessary for some forums -- unless they are hacking accounts. Does it block guest proxy access to the forum completely or only when a user tries to post?

Another person had a suggestion of keeping a log or report (like create a thread) of users using anon-proxies. That's a neat idea as well. The RBL-Proxy checker mod (that is now unavailable) would auto-ban users who registered with a proxy.

I get "Sorry, you must have javascript enabled to view this site." flash up at the top of every page briefly then disappear.

using firefox 2 with javascript enabled

====================

had to uninstall as safari users couldn't get onto the site.

Worked very well for me personally.

Can someone try my board
www.coralforum.com

I have Domains set to: coralforum.com|www.coralforum.com
redirect to: http://www.google.com
Timeout set: 5000

not familiar with web proxies andwould really like to block banned users from entering the site.

Thanks in advance

rjmjr69 07-30-2007 05:49 PM

Iso's where are you? Corol doenst seem as if you have it installed correctly. Once you do you should get redirected to whatever page you choose.

Seeing the message that the scripts are blocked is what you want to see Does it bring you to the forwarded page you set in the options after the script message appears?

Gottcha 07-31-2007 12:35 AM

doesnt do anything .... .went right to the site

Rik Brown 08-04-2007 05:30 PM

ISO:

Thanks for this mod. Love it!

Perhaps a small wish list item....

The text color used for the "Redirecting" message was one of our site's light grey "alt" colors that works fine with a dark background as on our system but not on white that showed during the redirect message (I could barely read it). So I added html formatting to change it to "red" in the plugin. It might be nice to be able to override the default colors to allow one to customize the foreground (and perhaps the background) just in case.

Anyway, changing the mod took less than 30 seconds so its not a biggy.

And this is a great mod as it stands!

Thanks. -- Rik

One problem with this is that it doesn't let some members browsse the site with their phones.

dutchbb 08-04-2007 06:43 PM

I'm not using a proxy and I got the message and redirected and so are all other members. Not working...

weedheaven 08-05-2007 09:42 AM

Yeah when the mod is enabled and you enter a website to redirect to. It redirect all ppl, even tough you just acces the site normal. If you dont enter sites for it, its not configured and disabled. Some solution for this, cause enabling it doesnt allow you to acces the site normal. It only redirect you. The only part what is accesible is the cp. I hope there is a fix for this.

i did: Domains: weedheaven.com
redirecturl: http://wowomg.com
redirect timout: 5000

It redirects, but everything including me

Reminisce32 08-12-2007 02:48 PM

How can I get this to work without redirecting myself? I am using FF and not a proxy.

Your redirect URL should have been "wowomg.com|www.wowomg.com".

Hicksatpd 08-13-2007 01:27 PM

Are you sure about that? On the page you enter this stuff in to, it specifically says that domains are to be entered as 'mydomain.com|www.mydomain.com', while a redirect URL is to be like this: 'http://www.mydomain.com'

So either you told this fellow backwards, or the directions need to be fixed. No biggie, but as someone who has just installed this and is in the middle of adding my own URLs this presented confusion to me. :)

Hicksatpd 08-13-2007 01:57 PM

I went ahead and tried entering BOTH fields with the mydomain.com | www.mydomain.com format and it immediately treated everyone like a proxy user. Needless to say I have it disabled until I can get clarification. Thanks!

weedheaven 08-13-2007 03:14 PM

same is happening to me. else it wont work

Wow, you are totally right :(
I must have not been paying enough attention, sorry weedheaven and Hicksatpd. :o

It seems as if the plugin was configured correctly. I really have no idea why it wouldn't be working with those settings.

If you guys still want to use it, pm me and I will gladly take a look at your site's source while it is enabled. That will tell me whats wrong.

Works great.

With the proxy I can view your homepage but can't access your forums, I get the message then re-directed to google.

All is ok when I use my own IP.

Your set to go!

This is awesome, thank you so much.

dutchbb 09-03-2007 01:11 PM

I got the same Javascript error as well not only from Safari but also when I tried to log on from my mobile (cell phone) with a standard web browser. I'm getting a lot of problems with trolls on my board who constantly try to outwit the mods by coming in from free proxys, this mod would be invaluable for me(and many others) if these issues can be resolved. I'm not installing it at the moment since I can't exclude users from those browsers.

Really looking forward to updates.

Usually that means you entered the URL for your site incorrectly.

Thanks a lot
Installed for ParsianSat.Net
But only web proxy redirector or vpn is redirector?

Shizuku 09-24-2007 06:34 PM

Im one person who's forum users are redirected if the hack is enabled. We are in dire need of a proxy detecting hack like this (trolls a plenty) but we are all redirected.

I entered the forum's domain correctly and i entered a redirection website.

Hope you are going to post an update soon (^^)

I'll admit, I'm relatively new with vBulletin, so installing plugins and what not is a learning thing. Anyways, could someone give a decent step-by-step to install this? i.e. where I need to edit the data and what I need to do within the admin control panel.

Thanks a bunch!!

EDIT: I figured it out... I was lacking on sleep. *hits self in forehead*
