eh... ??? there are different modules? I bought Frontpage Slideshow from Joomlaworks. that's not correct? I got via the link in your first post. :/

I'll request the "full vbulletin module"....but just in case, do you know the exact name and what the file name is of the one we are supposed to have?

Lizard King 03-08-2007 08:00 AM

There is two module file coming with the package. One is mod_fpslideshow.zip and the other one is com_fpslideshow.zip. You shall upload mod_fpslideshow and the content.

As you can see from my homepage and the screenshow there shall be numbers under the slideshow which you can browse through news but you are missing them.

flzero 03-08-2007 01:37 PM

I bought the slideshow and put the files in the folder clientscript.. I included the slideshow on my website but there is only:

Warning: fopen(): open_basedir restriction in effect. open_basedir restriction in effect is a server restriction. Talk to your host about allowing it.

also you have 2 different paths

/www/htdocs/v141979/page/scripts
and

/var/www/forums

you need to correct the wrong one in slideshow.php

flzero 03-08-2007 02:31 PM

uhm, sorry where have i to put the slideshow.php?

Lionel 03-08-2007 02:39 PM

slideshow.php is the module. Re-read the instructions to see where to upload the module.

flzero 03-08-2007 04:39 PM

ouch >.<
I didn't saw that this slideshow is only for vbadvanced.. 22€ for nothing -.- thats just horrible oO

I'm trying to get my head around this mod and the Joomla addon... more specificall y what this mod does that makes it work with vB.

I use vbPortal so I'm wondering what I would have to do to getthe Joomla addon to work on a vbPortal page.

GrendelKhan{TSU 03-09-2007 03:54 AM

ok. one step closer...

got the little numbers now...but still a couple problems
  1. I have a red X box image for MOST of the displays, esp in IE. is there a reason why it wouldn't be displaying the images? (size of image or thumbnail or something? or kind of image file? (gif, jpg, png etc))
  2. it still seems to be picking up the FIRST attachment...not the LAST...for the few that do work :(

soo close yet so far...
any ideas?

Quantnet 03-09-2007 04:18 AM

You need to allow guest to download attachment to get rid of the red X.

It happens to me too.

hmmm...changed it but didn't work. plus... I am an admin. shouldn't that only matter if i was actually viewing as a guest? (Im admin)

and any ideas why its picking FIRST attachment not last?

gj6kings 03-09-2007 05:17 PM

I am stuck at this point:
"Upload the module in your modules folder, then from admincp install it. No templates are necessary, but make sure you select YES for clean file output and Use Module Shell Template: NO"

I don't have a modules folder...and where exactly in admincp do i install it? Sorry for such a rookie question...I use mods and hacks all the time but I just can't make sense of this part..
Thanks in advance.

GrendelKhan{TSU 03-09-2007 06:14 PM

bump.

anyone have any ideas about the red X box and first attachment problem I'm getting??

you need to be running vbAdvanced CMPS. This is a hack to use the Joomala slideslow as a module block for vbAdvanced CMPS (www.vbadvanced.com)

ZiG 03-10-2007 12:23 AM

ok, this is working for me really well!

except one problem lol

in the config i have the limit set to 8

$limit="8";

when i post one new article in the temporary test forum that i am using to test out the script, it works great! article pops up, links work just fine...everything dandy..

when i posted another story after that, no slider at the bottom to select between two stories. it just stays on the first original story. even when i sticky the second/third/fourth story...still just that one originally posted story is showing up, no difference.

i am still trying to figure out the problem, but any assistance would be much appreciated.

***Update - do i have to upload mod_fpslideshow.php or mod_fpslideshow.xml and if so where? and also is the zip file com_fpslidershow1.1.zip of any use, or is it only necessary to use the files in mod_fpslideshow1.1.zip?

I have to agree your installation instructions aren't very elaborate, and you pay 22 euros for files that don't come with any read me's or instructions whatsoever. I hope you can supply me with some good support here or else I'm gonna be pretty upset.

Only problem I am having and can't seem to figure out is it is not allowing multiple stories in the fpslideshow...any help is appreciated asap.

I get this:

Quote:

http://www.clantsu.org/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=
(no attachment id number. :/ :confused: )

also, I when I requested the full vbulletin version from joomla like you said to... they sent a slideshow.php file, which I'm using. could that why mine posts the FIRST image and not the last image? ie: its a different version from the one from the one posted here?

attached is the versoin joomla sent me.

Please remove that zip from your post.
Did you set the forumsid in slideshow.php?
Do you actually have uploaded attachments inthere?

GrendelKhan{TSU 03-11-2007 03:02 PM

unrelated question...

Does does it randomly update / change with new image uploads?

you say
Quote:

It also displays by stickies first, then by date
but not how it updates.

I got lots of stickies in some forums (more than my configured display limit)
...so will it always be showing the same sticky ones in the slideshow?

also, "by date".. meaning most recent first or oldest first? is there a way to make it most recent first (so it updates with each new image upload) or NOT pick stickies?

No random. This is a "NEWS" slideshow. It will display the latest news with attachments first. But if you have stickies with attachments, they get priorities.

This mod was created specifically for vbadvanced. I am not familiar with vbportal.

sorry, did not see your stickies question. Simply remove stickies in the order by if you don't want them.

But here are some specific examples of both issues:

sorry, but in the example you provided there are no attachments. I see a big image for an announcement and some signatures images, but no attachments in first thread.

no worries, and sorry as well...another n00b question. :o
I'm not a coder so I'm completely guessing here:

so, take this part:
PHP Code:

$getnews $db->query_read("SELECT threadid from " TABLE_PREFIX "thread WHERE attach !='0' AND forumid in($forumid) ORDER by sticky DESC, threadid DESC LIMIT $limit");
while (
$news $db->fetch_array($getnews)) { $myid[]=$news['threadid']; }
$div_id 1;
foreach (
$myid as $threadid) {

and delete the "ORDER by sticky DESC,"

so I get:
PHP Code:

$getnews $db->query_read("SELECT threadid from " TABLE_PREFIX "thread WHERE attach !='0' AND forumid in($forumid) threadid DESC LIMIT $limit");
while (
$news $db->fetch_array($getnews)) { $myid[]=$news['threadid']; }
$div_id 1;
foreach (
$myid as $threadid) {

would that solve the sticky problem?
:confused:

Lionel 03-11-2007 03:26 PM

only remove (notice the comma?)

Quote:

sticky DESC,
Now, you seem to have some confusion over what attachments are. Attachments are not images included in your thread from imageshack or somewhere else. Attachments are what you uploaded from Manage Attachments when you create a thread.

there are some external linked images, but lots of attached ones as well.

From the Screenshot contest thread:

post 7
post 16
post 27
post 40

there might be more but that was a quick scan. I think post 40 might be the last attached one.

still that's one thread... all of the ones with redboxes have attached images. I double checked. please feel free to do so as well (its active now) or I can post more examples from other threads as well.

and any ideas why its posting the first image, not the last image?

again, great hack and hoping to get it to work right and thank you for the help. its very much appreciated. :):up:

no, I am aware of that.
I don't why you didn't notice there are plenty of both kinds of images in all of the threads with a red box (as attachments and as external linked in images).

anyway...
could it be related to teh first/last image problem? its seems to be only pulling from the first post (or image linked or otherwise) in a thread.

as for sticky thing:

To confirm...remove:
"sticky DESC," thus the line will look like:
"($forumid) ORDER by threadid DESC LIMIT $limit");"
(no quotes)

Correct?

and I don't know what "notice the comma?" is supposed to mean. I even took a guess at what you meant by "order by" and just searched for term that in the slideshow.php. Again, I am NOT a coder, so no idea of proper protocols or whatever... assume its all pretty much gibberish to me.

no that ain't it either. :(

cause this thread (first 1 in slideshow) has only two images and both are as attachments...
vote for TSU thread

This one first AND last are also images as attachments (3 in slideshow):
UT potluck tournament results

In contrast, this one WORKS +_+ (slide 5)
things that make you go WTF

hmmm... noticed something:
looks like its only working for threads that have an attached image in the FIRST post.

:confused: :confused: :eek:

does that help narrow down potential problems?

so? er... are you purposefully trying to be difficult or not actually reading my posts? I'm trying to explain as best I can and I don't understand why you only answer part of the question and so cryptically and not address the actually problem that needs fixing.

Isn't this mod supposed be a slideshow highlighting the last uploaded attached image *which is obviously in a post* from within a thread (from a designated forum/s)?

if not let me know.

Quote:

sorry, but in the example you provided there are no attachments. I see a big image for an announcement and some signatures images, but no attachments in first thread.
eg: here you said, "no attachments in the first thread"...but there ARE. so I showed you a bunch of posts IN THAT THREAD that have attached images (not just external links to images). Plus, that's not the only example I provided.

Is that not clear? shouldn't that be working then???

I don't understand ... are you saying it IS working and the redbox is correct?
or that it is actually displaying the LAST uploaded image in a thread (even though it clearly isn't).

as I said, it only seems to be WORKING threads with an attached image in the FIRST POST of a thread.

THREADS with ATTACHED IMAGES in other POSTS (not the first)... are ending up with BROKEN images (red box). and it is NOT pulling the LAST image uploaded in a thread for give forums. it IS a bug or something wrong /conflict with my set up.

can you help fix it or not?

ZiG 03-11-2007 07:07 PM

im sorry lionel i dont mean to come off as disrespectful, ive already stated that your mod is great and i dont see what is very arrogant about my post. im only stating the truth, there are no readme files that come with the script, and your instruction in the OP are very scarce, it seems to me that you are being quite arrogant actually...but that is beyond the point, I do require some assistance and i'm respectfully asking if you could help me out in regards to your script which I appreciate you working on and releasing. please don't misjudge my post, i am not being arrogant and i am not an arrogant person whatsoever, you are taking that post the wrong way.

i actually even nominated this script/mod so i really dont appreciate this kind of treatment fyi

Lionel 03-11-2007 08:08 PM

So what is your problem exactly? All you have to do is set the forumsid and it is assumed that you know how to install a module and that you understand the difference between posts and threads. The hack works out of the box.

As far as the digits not displaying, if you read thru the posts, some wantabe smart guy posted a pirated version on the site, so I removed them to protect the developper. If you paid for the javascript, send him an email and ask him for full slideshow.php for vbulletin. That's all.
