How do we change the Category from media to something else or add more cat?
Also is their a way to upload more than 1 image or do we have to use bbcodes for that?

chick 12-19-2006 02:50 AM

This is much better, thanks for the effort you are putting into this! However, when I try to sell, I'm not getting an image upload field...is this something I've done wrong? :(

There's also a simple, cross-browser html editor here. I've used it and it's ideal for this auction addon. There aren't as many features as, say, TinyMCE, but it's faster loading and easier to install.

chick 12-19-2006 11:57 AM

Hi Blaine, I did that, and it didn't work...... so I deleted everything then reinstalled and still the same issues as posted above.

I will figure it out.

Hmm, i just checked the file and it has the right template as long as you downloaded the regular vbay.zip

Maybe make sure all the templates with vbay_ are reverted
Have you edited any in the past?

Blaine0002 12-19-2006 08:48 PM

I have a partially working pm thing, and a partially working wysiwyg editor, so, soon guys :D

Image uploading would be nice :) Great mod.

nathanrich 12-20-2006 06:42 PM

Just an fyi, depending on where you live there might be regulations regarding running online auctions on your website. I'm not trying to scare anyone away, just saying do your homework, especially if your auctions start getting alot of traffic.

well i have like tons of traffic that goes to my website everyday and nothing have yet occur, but like you said "do your homework" is a good idea too...

To blaine:
if you dont mind can i make/mod the script so i can upload images to the site myself, it is very simple to be done from point of view. If that is fine with you then i am going to mod or tweach the script to a notch.
Thx

tobe12 12-21-2006 01:49 AM

Here is a nice report about regulations in OHIO and online auctions
https://www.com.state.oh.us/real/doc...FinalPaper.pdf

tobe12 12-21-2006 02:50 AM

I downloaded and installed your plug-in here http://www.sadoun.net/forums/vbay.php

There were two downloads VBay and VBAYprevious

I installed vBay. What needs to be done with VBAYprevious?

Where can I add more categories, etc?

Hornstar 12-21-2006 05:22 AM

Nice work. This has so much potential, I cant wait to see how this looks in the weeks to come. Will install this once it has paypal integrated.

also, once paypal is integrated, could you do a system where a fraction of the money gets paid to my paypal and the rest gets paid to their paypal. or is that way over the top lol.

dartho 12-21-2006 09:42 AM

Why not make it a bit goes to your paypal too Blaine :p

Blaine0002 12-21-2006 10:13 AM

lol, you are free to edit the code as long as you only use it on your website, but you are also free to pm me the code, would save me time and work (no pressure tho) The only hack that needs to be installed is vbay. im just putting vbayprevious out there so people have an option to install the previous version if the current one is buggy. and yes hornstar i will take that into consideration (and no not MY paypal :))

Nochex is always popular. You can pay with your credit card without having to have an account. www.nochex.com

talkwebz 12-23-2006 07:37 PM

Its not like sitepoints.
I modified mine
www.talkwebz.com/vbay.php
I got rid of the stupid address text box and it doesn't work but if its there it would work im not going to use it but just telling you guys this is the cloest it looks like sitepoint's marketplace.

That was constructive :alien:

To remove the address requirement - edit vbay.php, search for and delete or comment out:
Code:

        if ($address == '') {eval(standard_error(fetch_error('vbay_post_fields'))); }
and
Code:

if ($_POST['address'] == '') {
        eval(standard_error(fetch_error('vbay_enter_address')));
}

if that doesn't work, you could probably set a default address by adding:
$address = "care of www.mydomain.com";
in the // SET UP CODE NEEDED FOR MAIN SCRIPT section...

dartho 12-23-2006 09:00 PM

Trying to think of ways to stop sniping on these auctions, one was to have the auction end time automagically extend by x minutes if a bid is placed in teh last x minutes, andother may be to have an optional randomise option which randomises the end time within a period, say the last hour.

Do you think you'll add an "Autobid" feature so a user can bid their highest, but it it only post as high a bid as needed?

Blaine0002 12-24-2006 02:25 AM

sorry guys ive been a bit busy the holiday season, ill start work on this again in a few days ;P

rolandogomez 12-24-2006 10:30 PM

Seems like a great hack, keep us posted when you have all the additions and more out of beta, I will install this, thanks, rg sends!

Draygonia 12-27-2006 12:51 AM

When I click to sell, it says to request a sellers group or something and says "there are no public usergroups for you to join" and I setup the usergroup for vbay with the ID and all, but it still doesnt work!
