I have made the modif who is posted here : https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showpost....&postcount=109

Any body can help me ?

It does look like a directory issue - are you completely sure this is where the file is located to the server root? /home/evox/lesavoir/httpdocs/lesavoir/register.php - it may be worth using the full url in the show.php file and in the plugin (see this thread for how to).

Let me know how that goes.

Cheers

All the files are in the correct location. I have made the modif for the plugin, and i have the same error

dg0896 06-05-2007 09:20 PM

Is there any chance of this being compatible with 3.6.7 anytime soon?

Keyser S?ze 06-06-2007 03:32 AM

i hate to be a broken record but any progress on the imagemagik compatibility?

Dragons76 06-06-2007 07:30 PM

I have installed a Vbulletin 3.6.1 on local, after i have installed the hack. It's work

I'm making an upgrade to Vbulletin 3.6.7PL1 and the hack works.

When i install the hack on a VB 3.6.7, it don't work.

Do yiu hace a solution for this PB ?

GlitterKill 06-08-2007 03:17 PM

Simple and effective hack! Thanks for the work... INSTALLED!

CrashfAB 06-08-2007 03:32 PM

For the record I have had this running on my forum for about 4 months and only 2 bots have gotten thru where as before I was getting close to 5 a day....

Great hack

iVox 06-08-2007 06:29 PM

Need confirmation, please, this works on vB 3.6.7. Thanks!

From past experience Imagemagick is a little of a rarity towards image processing - the GD libraries are usually built into PHP so hence why this was written with that in mind - but I am checking out the liklihood of adding that function and make it an AdminCP option.

If you PM your site details and include as much info as possible about what the forum root and server root should be I will take a look into it.

BoredOutOfMyMin 06-09-2007 02:23 AM

This does not work under 3.6.7 PL1 running on a Apache Server being viewed on a Linux Computer using Firefox.

iVox 06-09-2007 02:23 PM

Thanks, just what I needed to know. This is an important mod, it should be one of the choices in the default vB setup in the release candidates and final version in my opinion. I might implement it on my forum with the necessary fixes and a few changes, i.e. random numbers or a hash generated associated with each image which would make even guessing impossible by bots written by people exploiting the fact they have a one in five chance of getting past that prompt simply by trying "1" through "5" and attacking the forum multiple times in a row.

I'm in the midst of doing other things, so this might be awhile. If anyone out there, including this mod author, is willing to take this up sooner - go for it.

I'm pretty new to this but trying to catch on quickly. I want to use this and the secure contact us on our site but want to ask this first. Will I need to make any modifications to my style if I am not using the default VB style? Additionally, I noticed that your demo uses 6 images, which I like, but the install uses 4. I see in the code where that change is made but since it is your code, I ask before I cahnge... I would prefer to have 6 like your demo uses. Do I need your permission and do you see any problem with changing it to 6?

Thanks in advance...

I'm looking into moving away from using this image based version and using a flash version which should be (hopefully) impossible for bots to get past as it would require a click within the flash area and not a link - this is taking some time though as I don't understand Flash and I need to figure out how to pass the variable to PHP (if anyone can help please PM me!) - I understand as it is, it can be defeated by repeatedly clicking, but it's working well for me and other members here.

Nope it's fine - feel free to change it to any number you prefer and it uses existing styles - so will match for each without and style customisations.

for some reason.. the images stopped showing up.. I've not added any new hacks
http://www.worldclassbodybuilding.co...s/register.php

the images are in the right directory
http://www.worldclassbodybuilding.co...0Butterfly.jpg

when clicking on the show.php? file

Fatal error: Call to undefined function: imagecreatefromjpeg() in public_html/forums/images/verification/show.php on line 21

ShackMaster 06-19-2007 01:44 PM

It's been several months for us using this hack. This has to be the best hack I've come across and I've got quite a few installed. This one has saved us a lot of headaches. We were getting hammered with spam and had tried nearly everything else out there... nothing was working.

This plugin works great!

Thank you Jason!

Ren? Kunze 06-19-2007 11:47 PM

I installed it also times into my forum.
I had the side once seen thereafter, not again.
As it can be which I the pictures only once sees.
I must activate that or somewhere still so.

I have 3.6.7

radarhunter 06-20-2007 06:01 AM

i dun`t know about u buddy but it works on my forum (version 3.6.7 PL1)

http://www.stepheniansonline.com/forum/register.php?

pic attached for proof :)

J.R. Rogers 06-27-2007 03:56 PM

This worked once and then never worked again. No errors in apache log or anything... it just doesn't show up anymore. Clicking registration takes you right to the date of birth question. I'm running vB 3.6.7 PL1.

edit: When I tried it from another computer, I got the images on the first registration attempt. I continued to see the images until I chose the correct image. Then, I couldn't get them to come back. When I tried to register again, it dropped me to the date of birth question bypassing the image verification.

Is this mod setting a cookie or something so you only see it once per computer until you get the answer right? If so, ummmm... :)

JR

radarhunter 06-27-2007 04:03 PM

it is because when u click on the right option it kindda creates a cookie in ur explorer and it doesn`t show again.. Kindly access ur site from some other browser and u`ll see it is there..

plus if spammers are still hacking ur forum you can turn on the default vb image verification .......

that will take care of things.........

Dang, I was looking for this exact project not too long back..couldn't find it though. It does sexy though!

Is it purely for registrations only - or can it be used where-ever captcha is used, e.g. guest posts or searches, etc?

karlm 07-01-2007 07:44 PM

for this to work, i had to hash out the .htaccess file... I'm assuming my host doesn't like having index redirection.

KPalicz 07-02-2007 12:23 PM

I love this, it has stopped spam dead on our forum. Excellent hack.

steadicamop 07-10-2007 04:33 PM

Hey guys ... some encouraging posts there - sorry for my lack of presence, had some personal issues - but am still working on the Flash version of this .... which I'm hoping will take this to the next level.

Jason

steadicamop 07-10-2007 04:35 PM

Just a note about the .htaccess file : it isn't totally required, a blank index.html file will do - it's just something to stop the contents of the directory being trawled - and in all honest not that it would make any difference anyway as they would just have a list of images - which wouldn't really do any good for figuring out which pictures matches the text.

It's just there as some extra security - if you can't get the .htaccess file working - don't worry.

Cheers

It's possible to be adapted for other purposes - the plugin location can be changed to other hooks so it's entirely possible for it to be used again.

Do you have any specific place in mind? Let me know and I will try and knock a quick modded version up.

I'd like to see it work with Form Hack. since it specifically needs to have image verification off in order to work.

Michael2 08-16-2007 09:00 AM

First spam-free day in a long time, thanks!

JadedSouls 08-22-2007 12:51 AM

this is the first hack i installed on my vb 3.6.8 message board and it seems to be working flawlessly. i installed a whole slew of anti spam stuff on my 3.6.4 and nothing kept the bots out until i installed this hack. in the last two days i relized how much it had spoiled me. lol. i recomend that if your going to install a product ... this should be the product you install. good luck. :)

thanks to the author!!!

Bojangles 09-15-2007 04:02 AM

Installed like a breeze for 3.6.8. Nice mod! :)

First thing - check to make sure you have the GD libraries installed - see this post. If you don't have GD installed it won't work - if it is installed try this -

Check the structure of the images - they should be:

forum root/images/verification

Here's something to check if that is all correct, in templates check image_verification, and find this code:

PHP Code:

images/verification/show.php

Change it to your server root ie

PHP Code:

server root/forum/images/verification/show.php

Make sure that ?1 through to ?4 is kept after show.php otherwise it won't work.

If all else fails PM your site details and I can take a look.

HTH

Jason

better yet, simply change it to
PHP Code:

$vboptions[bburl]/images/verification/show.php

BTW -where are the settings in the ACP for this hack?
