I made some changes so it will show the number of replies on the file details instead of just a link at the end of the description (see attached). I hope I can share the mod someday.

i cant get it on 3.7 gold it creates the thread but the page stays black wit the url of downloads.php?do=add&id=

Can it work with vBB 3.7?Or we must do some edit?

Normally it works fine with vB 3.7.

I don't know if it's possible, but perhaps there would be a way to set it where when the download is approved, then the thread that's created is automatically approved as well?

I am not sure if this is covered already or there is a feature but could someone please explain.

We have 2 types of users.

Registered and Club Members

Registered users should be able to download free product and Club Members can download club and free product.

It seems that DownloadsII works only 1 way . Either allow or don't allow the group to download .Without permission to specific files or download category.

Does this feature exists?

i am not sure what happened but since 2-3 days ago i started having problems when uploading a new file, this is a error:

hmmm .... well something had to happen! :-) Did you do a forum upgrade? Install any new plug-ins? Delete any users?

A few items to examine -

1. In your admincp, under Downloads - Create Threads -> Settings, is the Default UserID set as either "-1" or to a valid userid?
2. Does the user trying to add the file have permissions to create the thread in the designated forum?
3. If the category is set to go to a specific forum, is the category using a valid userid?

If you are still having problems, you can also PM me your site information along with an admin (vb) username and password. I'll check it out for you.

I think i found a problem,... recently i changed usergruop id , but i forgot to change it in the plug in,....

btw, i have another question:
In the Edit category, do i have to do edit for only a category or i have to edit all the subs as well.

Example,.

i have it like this

category
-sub1
-sub2
-sub3

if i select not to create thread to the `category` do i have to change it to no to subs or its gonna work anyway?

The category permissions are not inherited from the parent to the child. Unless you specifically set a categories permissions, it will use the global permissions.

Now i get this error when uploading to DownloadsII

Still uploads and post tread... but get that sql error

Have done fresh install... but only way to remove error is to disable this plugin... any help

Ok ive been running with this addon for the last few weeks and .... Fantastic! Great idea, but... I'm going to have to remove it :(

Why would i do such a thing?

Well it does exactly what it says it does and creates a new thread in a specified forum for a post mad on downloadsii but that basically is all it does. Its missing the little extras that i would like to have seen like for example..

When a download gets deleted so, should the forum post.
When a download gets edited so, should the forum post.
When a download gets moved to a different category, so should the forum post.

As my forum is centered around downloads it making twice as much work so im thinking that i would be better off without it and living without the forum posts.

Unless.... There is an update coming soon including the above.

But like i say, fantastic addon just a bit basic.

Hi, i have just added this mod to my website but for some reason its not working.. i have added all the forums and assigned them to downloadsII but when i add a new file to DownloadsII it doesnt add a new thread in my forum.

I am running DownloadsII 5.0.8 & VB 3.7.4

I followed the installation info and set the permissions etc but it still doesnt seem to work.

Can anyone help?

I chmod 777 so I know it can write to it....it isnt even giving me an error message...dont know what the problem could possibly be.

the downloads page shows up when you click that link, but when you try to upload the file it says it cant display it?

I also noticed that on this page:

at the top of the page it gives the error message:

"the download directory doesn't exist"

I uploaded all the files from the download on here, anyone know which file it is showing that I am missing?

I have installed this hack.

I'm running 3.7.4 with Downloads II version 5.1.0.

From what I can tell this does not work as threads are not being created in the forum I have designated. I have triple checked forum permissions, usergroup permissions, and the hacks settings to ensure I have all the proper settings.

It's a no go.

everything works great, BUT it creates a new thread for each file uploaded

I'd rather just have one "master thread" updated with a new post

I've tried all types of configurations to get this to work, but none have been successful

yeah me 3 lol i got it installed but can see for the life of me to get it so it will show a new thread at all, the files are posting in the hack but not in the forum... any can shead some light on this???? it looks like a great hack if i can get it to work the right way my guys will love it...thanks for your hard work

i think you will have to edit variables so instead creating it in the forumid it will create it in thread id..

got it installed, but dosent create threads, and i want a thread pr file added.

so got a specifik forum setup for download threads. :D

Appears to work, but when it creates the thread, this is the title...

Notice the HTML tags.... How do I get rid of them or did I install incorrectly?
