Thank you. Nice hack...

seyfihoca 09-23-2007 02:28 PM

thanks for the hack. is there a way to see the "last 12 hours' messages"?

Paul M 09-23-2007 09:21 PM

Not with this, no.

Kamakazy 10-07-2007 05:21 AM

Paul M, anyway to fix this on vBadvanced CMPS v2.2.1 (vB 3.6)

plz check my site http://www.englishsabla.com for an example...

it seems to be missing the /forum directory on the front page...

Mafialife Chris 10-10-2007 12:30 AM

I installed the hack and followed your instructions to the letter. I found the sections of code in the navbar, I added the code from the instructions, the XML file loaded no problem...but I'm not getting the display. Any ideas what it could be?

Paul M 10-10-2007 12:47 AM

Version 3.21

The need for manual template edits has now been removed.

If upgrading from a previous version you should remove the two lines below from your navbar template.

HTML Code:

<if condition="$show[pcount]">$bbuserinfo[pcount]<br /></if>
HTML Code:

<if condition="$show[rcount]"><br />$bbuserinfo[rcount]</if>

(Leaving these in the template should not do any harm, but they are now unnecessary).

No idea, but I've been working on removing the template edits for this today and the upgrade is now available. I suggest you update first.

Mafialife Chris 10-10-2007 01:18 AM

I'm trying to install the new version, but i get this error:

"Sorry, no XML was passed into this function and the $path variable empty"

There's no URL info, so i can't do it through add, only import

I think you have posted in the wrong thread ?

That error with the broken phrase is fixed (in the unread posts release).

Paul M 10-10-2007 11:27 AM

Version 3.22 has been uploaded, which includes the setting to prefix the links when using things like CMPS.

deezelpope 10-10-2007 11:44 AM

Thanks for the update, Paul!:)

same thing happened to me :(

rayphua 10-11-2007 03:53 AM

Strange, when I click on the Unread Posts at the welcome box, it shows me a drop down User Control Panel. Please advice, thanks!!

Paul M 10-11-2007 07:10 AM

No idea, something odd about your style maybe.

Should I be looking into the navbar template for errors? or any other locations i should look into?

Paul M 10-11-2007 03:54 PM

A link to your site and a test login would be more useful.

Aclikyano 10-12-2007 12:41 PM

Updated from 3.18 (overwrite it) and......

You have 1 New reputation comment.

When you click on that, it takes u to a blank page with the url: http://www.mysite.com/forums/%5BARG:3%20UNDEFINED%5Dusercp.php

when hovering over the rep link it shows this url @ the bottom of the browser:
http://www.mysite.com/forums/[ARG:3 UNDEFINED]usercp.php

ALSO... instead of no new rep comments showing like in 3.18, this time nothing at all shows. only when you have new rep comments does that little text stat show in the navbar

shokmuzik.com 10-13-2007 11:41 AM

When user A has rights to access forum XY makes a post in forum XY, user B without rights to access forum gets alerted too. I think its confusing for user B when he sees 1000's of new post but has no access to them. How can I prevent this?

Paul M 10-13-2007 02:20 PM

You can't in this mod.

The unread posts version does that though.

rinkrat 10-15-2007 05:09 PM

When I click on the new reputation link it opens the Private Messages dropdown. Is there some way I can revert to the previous version of this that worked correctly?

Paul M 10-15-2007 09:15 PM

What exactly is the "Private Messages Dropdown" ?

mamashid 10-17-2007 12:36 AM

its not showing up what did i do! i installed for it to say good morning evenign etc, and since then its not showing up the post and reps

Paul M 10-17-2007 10:21 AM

You mean you have altered it ?

Kamakazy 10-18-2007 10:55 AM

i installed version 3.22 but my CMPS is still missing the /forum check here www.englishsabla.com

and i seem to be missing the new reputation comment line

Paul M 10-18-2007 11:30 AM

Without a test login there is nothing to check, you cannot see this mod as a guest.

You will only see the new reputation line if you actually receive some (and have reputation display enabled).

Kamakazy 10-18-2007 12:15 PM

okay, i sent you the log in details...

i also checked with the rep and it seems to work once i get a new rep... lovely...

but i am left with the CMPS issue, where can i edit the prefix for the missing /forum?

Paul M 10-18-2007 12:55 PM

vBulletin Options > Display New Posts and Reputation.

Kamakazy 10-18-2007 01:20 PM

aaah, great...

your a gem... thanks...

Paul M 10-18-2007 03:21 PM

Version 3.23

Since it's been asked about a number of times, I have updated the New Posts count to exclude forums that a member does not have permission to view (similar to the Unread Posts modification).

deezelpope 10-18-2007 03:39 PM

Oh dear!:( Everything was running great, then I updated and now I'm getting this:

Database error in vBulletin 3.6.4:Invalid SQL: SELECT COUNT(post.dateline) AS pcount FROM post AS post FORCE INDEX (dateline) INNER JOIN thread AS thread USING (threadid) WHERE dateline > 1192722160 AND thread.forumid IN (03,59,5,44,52,7,14,54,53,49,47,48,55,43,32,41,31, 42,6,56,57,58,8,15,16,17,26,9,18,20,50,46,19,10,40 ,22,21,12,34,35,13,36,37,38);MySQL Error : Column 'dateline' in where clause is ambiguous

Canis Firebrand 10-18-2007 03:45 PM

I can't recall if I or someone else asked this before.

Can this and the Display Unread Posts add-on be used together?

The reason I ask and what my users want would be satisfied if they can.

Currently, I use the Display Unread Posts one to have it display any unread posts since their last visit. Other uses want a total count of all unread posts, not just since their last visit. Since there isn't an option to let them choose which way to have the product display, I thought of adding this one as well.

Then, I could set the Display New Posts addon to show all posts since their last login. Then use the Unread Posts addon to display the count of all unread posts.

As long as both addons would display the code, would there be any clashes in the two running at the same time? Would both addons display the code?

I'd like to have it read something like

You have 5 New Posts since your last visit and 20 unread posts total.

I know I'd have to edit the phrasing myself to fix, but aside from that, would what I am looking to be achieve be possible with these two add-ons installed?

Hmm, odd that I don't get that, but it's easily fixed, just re-download and install.

I bit of an odd thing to do, but you can run them both together if you want, you should disable the reputation section of one of them, otherwise that will run twice.

Oh, I know, isn't it? Alrighty, I'll try it. Kinda freaked out again and shaking...*sigh*

I did the overwrite with the 3.23...seems ok now. Thank you, Paul.

subnet_rx 10-22-2007 02:54 PM

This seems to now make auto template edits and negates the manual old template edits. Can this be turned back on? I don't display the new posts and rep at the top of the info box, I display them at the bottom.

SBlueman 10-23-2007 02:57 AM

I have a bit of a problem....

I modified my site some and got rid of the usual vbulletin section where you'd normally see this. I added a login menu at the top of the site and when people are logged in they would see all this information. Now the new posts information is showing up underneath the Welcome, [username] section and the reputation part of this mod is not showing up at all. This is my code:

Code:

<table width="880" border="0" cellpadding="1" cellspacing="1" background="http://img150.imageshack.us/img150/3619/cellpic13702babzk1.png">
    <tr>
        <td>&nbsp;</td>
      <td><font color="#000000" size="1"><phrase 1="$bbuserinfo[username]"><strong>$vbphrase[welcome_x]</strong></phrase></font></td>
      <td><div align="center"><if condition="$show[pcount]"><font color="#000000" size="1"><strong>$bbuserinfo[pcount]</strong></font></if>
        </div></td>
      <td><div align="center"><font size="1"><phrase 1="$pmbox[lastvisitdate]" 2="$pmbox[lastvisittime]"><font color="#000000"><strong>$vbphrase[last_visited_x_at_y]</strong></font></phrase></font></div></td>
      <td><div align="center"><font size="1"><if condition="$show['pmstats']"><phrase 1="$vbphrase[unread_x_nav_compiled]" 2="$vbphrase[total_x_nav_compiled]" 3="$session[sessionurl_q]"><font color="#000000"><strong>$vbphrase[private_messages_nav]</strong></font></phrase></if></font></div></td>
      <td><div align="center"><font size="1"><if condition="$show['pmwarning']"><strong><phrase 1="$vbphrase[pmpercent_nav_compiled]"><font color="#000000">$vbphrase[your_pm_box_is_x_full]</font></phrase></strong></if></font></div></td>
      <td><div align="center"><font size="1"><if condition="$show[npr_reputation]"><font color="#000000"><strong>$vbphrase[npr_reputation]</strong></font></if></font></div></td>
      <td class="vbmenu_control"><a href="login.php?$session[sessionurl]do=logout&amp;logouthash=$bbuserinfo[logouthash]" onclick="return log_out('$vbphrase[sure_you_want_to_log_out]')"><strong><font size="1">$vbphrase[log_out]</font></strong></a></td>
    </tr>
  </table>

Is there anything I can do to keep this on my site? Or do I have to give it up because it won't work with my custom setup?

This is my site: http://gridironfans.com/
