any one?
and does it work on 3.6.8?

Tom_S 08-11-2007 02:32 PM

Okay now VB.org is updated to 3.6.8. Now since they see this upgrade as stable does this mod work with the upgrade or is this going to be tested with the upgrade at any point soon? I still can't get it to work.

Saviour 08-27-2007 04:14 PM

Two weeks have passed and no one has replied regarding compatibility with 3.6.8...oh well...better days..."clicks uninstalled".

UPDATE:

Okay...I have this working...

Now I have to get the Additional Section Within Profile and Dropdown menu working...

If these mods are going to be supported...it'd be nice to have someone support them instead of racking our brains trying to get them to work...

Or just a little note at the beginning of the mod which versions of vBulletin the mod is compatible with...instead of having to search every post to see if someone has already inquired as to its compatibility with other vBulletin versions. Instead we get answers like..."I see no reason why it shouldn't work with version 3.6.X." Sure you don't...but did you test it?

htscpl 09-05-2007 10:40 AM

FYI
Works well with 3.6.8. Still had to do the php file edits, but all my extra fields and pages are there. :up:

any one?

Wired1 09-25-2007 02:06 AM

Like I said, it should work with 3.6.8, as they didn't do any major upgrades.

And YES, it was tested, just forgot to update the version # at the top.

Add-ons like this which require manual edits, require manual edits each time there's an upgrade.

I don't understand what this sentence means (due to broken english and typos):

Do you mean you would like to use this plugin for Photography items, such as Camera Model, Lens Model, etc?

If this is what you mean, this is definitely possible, as the plugin is not dependant on the profile field descriptions. Follow the instructions and you'll be fine.

Raw Sugar 09-28-2007 04:45 AM

All that you have to do to get this to work is to uninstall, then reinstall. And then re-upload the PHP files in the download. Everytime that I upgrade I have to do this.

The-Ensemble 09-30-2007 04:52 PM

Erm, something weird has happened to mine, the profile fields in the extra page class (to be displayed on the extra profile page) no longer appear in Profile Field manager, it didn't delete them because they are still there when I look at a user.

Help please?

Raw Sugar 10-01-2007 02:12 AM

Hey James, 'tis Jaci! Just as I said in the above post. It will work fine once you do this...

Just uninstall the plug-in and then re-install it. Then you want to re-upload the two PHP files in the download. If ya need any help then IM me on MSN.

chickadee 10-02-2007 02:45 PM

Can I put my own form on the new page created, instead of the custom profile fields?

The Realist 10-02-2007 03:37 PM

What two php files?

I dont see any download only a single XML file.

Regards.

Oh my bad... I know what I did. When I first downloaded the instructions, I downloaded the two PHP files from my vbulletin files and saved them in the folder just in case. So just download the two PHP files you make the edits too, check to make sure the edits are still there, then re-upload. Then it should work. I'm sorry, I forgot I did it this way. LoL

Hope it works for ya!

The Realist 10-02-2007 06:05 PM

Thought that was it but I did the edits and the option still does not show.

Raw Sugar 10-02-2007 06:14 PM

Oh hmmm... I dunno. Did you try uninstalling and re-installing the .xml file?

No, ergo why it's called Extra Profile Fields Page.

There are no PHP files that I have created. He may be talking about the edits of the PHP files. You have to re-do ALL of the steps in the instructions.

chickadee 10-03-2007 08:16 AM

Ah ok, thanks!

The Realist 10-03-2007 12:31 PM

I have and the options still dont show up?

Ok getting somewhere.

I now found out how to add additional fields which are now showing within a users control panel which they can edit as needed but........

The actual details are NOT showing up within a users profile?

Just like the http://www.houseofhelp.com/forums/member.php?u=15 which is using this hack to show system specs, I dont see this section within a users profile page although the user has added details.

Any ideas why its not showing?

Do I have to edit another template for it to show up?

Regards.

Dave-M 10-16-2007 12:03 AM

Hi Wired1,

Thanks for this :)

I am struggling to get it to work. I have this custom skin, and I have followed the instructions to the letter, and here is what I have.

https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/external/2007/10/7.png

https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/external/2007/10/8.png

https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/external/2007/10/5.png

As you can see, I dont have any extra options showing, but I do have the extra options in the User CP menu on the left.

If someone could point me in the right direction, i would be eternally greatful :)

Thanks.

Dave.

Wired1 10-17-2007 12:35 AM

I'm guessing that you haven't made or marked any profile fields as for this mod: User Profile Fields in Area: Options: <Insert var name here>

Code:

$vbphrase[edit_extra_options]
- Change this in the adminCP for vB Phrases

rabbits slayer 10-18-2007 07:09 PM

thankyou. :)

bandare 10-19-2007 10:16 AM

ok, I am lost. I added everything and then went in to the adminCP to create a couple of extra fields for users to add. I then added them in my profile and then went to see it listed. However, it doesn't show. I have just read up about going somewhere else to then install something and change a load of templates.

What I don't understand is what is the point of this particular addition if nobody will see anything as a result, until you download and change something else?????

Or am I doing something wrong so the profile will show the extra data?

thanks in advance....

Read The Description Post @ The Top. For What You Want You ALSO Need To Install The Addon.

I am trying to work out how to change the text on the left where it currently says edit Extra Options. I have been in to the USERCP Shell and tried to change this line:

Quote:

<td class="$navclass[extra]" style="white-space:nowrap"><a class="smallfont" href="profile.php?$session[sessionurl]do=extra">$vbphrase[edit_extra_options]</a></td>
</tr>
so that it will read:

Quote:

<td class="$navclass[extra]" style="white-space:nowrap"><a class="smallfont" href="profile.php?$session[sessionurl]do=extra">$vbphrase[edit_System_Spec]</a></td>
</tr>
but that didn't seem to do it. Could you assist pls.

Wired1 10-19-2007 06:39 PM

That won't do it at all, unless you have a vbphrase with that new name. You need to go into the AdminCP options, search for the var, and edit the phrase. The vBulletin manual on their website has the instructions on how to do that.

Hello Wired1,

I am upgrading my board from 3.6.4 to 3.6.8 and I see that in functions_user.php is hook at the place you edit the file:

PHP Code:

                      {
                                switch (
$profilefield['form'])
                                {
                                        case
1:

$customfields['login'] .= $tempcustom;
                                                break;
                                        case
2:

$customfields['messaging'] .= $tempcustom;
                                                break;
                                        case
3:

$customfields['threadview'] .= $tempcustom;
                                                break;
                                        case
4:

$customfields['datetime'] .= $tempcustom;
                                                break;
                                        case
5:

$customfields['other'] .= $tempcustom;
                                                break;
                                        default:
                                                (
$hook vBulletinHook::fetch_hook('profile_fetch_profilefields_loc')) ? eval($hook) : false;
                                }
                        }
                }

Is it possible to take advantage of this hook and get rid of manual file edits with each upgrade?

Thanks for your add-on!!!

Wired1 10-28-2007 03:14 PM

Nope, won't work.

CoryNickerson 11-05-2007 02:19 AM

This is just a modification of editing profile fields, so they have the same limitations.

Audentio 11-06-2007 06:00 AM

Im guessing this doesnt work with 3.6.8? I dont see where to edit any of this stuff, nor does it show up in usercp nor anywhere in the acp that I can see. I checked vb options, everywhere.
