You will find that when I'm on holiday from work (like over xmas) I release a few updates as I have the time to update and change bits that have been waiting. Most are just internal changes to tidy things up and don't require you to update unless you want to. If I think the change warrents it then i will either post in the thread or send an update message. You can always see the reason for an update in the history section of the main post.

Version 3.37 uploaded tonight fixes a date display problem introduced in one of the previous xmas updates (v3.34).

so nice installed..

carphead 01-06-2007 08:28 AM

Is there away to disable it for selected forums? I've tried and can't find a way.

Great Mod BTW.

KURTZ 01-08-2007 02:21 AM

Paul a question for future developments: it's possibile to build this hack with some features like the following:

1) how many time a user has seen the thread
2) when the user has seen the thread (day and hour)

i think these (hoped) modifications can be very usefull for the admins and moderators ... in my prevously forum (a phpBB) i had installed a modfication that tells me ALL the activities of a specific user, i always could know all with this hack i only could know IF a specific user has seen a thread ...

hope that i explained well what i wanna say :)

Paul M 01-08-2007 08:46 AM

In reverse ;

2. The Date Time they last read a thread is already there - hover over the username, or click on "View-All".

1. It may be possible to have a simple count of how many times a person has read a thread, as well as the last read time. I will certainly never keep a record of all the dates/times - as that would be a huge amount of data.

Nik_s3 01-11-2007 08:52 PM

Installed. Very nice. Thank you.

blogtorank 01-12-2007 02:15 PM

Thanks for the upgrade!

DanCan 01-13-2007 06:01 AM

I have installed the hack, ensured that it is activated and that I and other admin/mods should be able to see it. But it does not appear (I have looked beneath the quick reply box where it was supposed to be). just for the record, I use 3.6.. Any ideas?

EDIT: Solved. It is appearing now.

Nathan2006 01-13-2007 06:45 PM

Thanks for the update :)

xlguy 01-16-2007 05:00 AM

Can this feature be set on a per-forum basis? I would like it for staff forums only for example.

Paul M 01-16-2007 05:06 AM

No, there are no forum settings available.

Paul M 01-19-2007 02:01 AM

Version 3.38 is simply a move of the Auto-template options from a shared group to this modifications own options group. There is no need to update.

KURTZ 01-19-2007 01:42 PM

anyway i do the update :)

thx Paul

This is an incredibly useful mod that I'm grateful to have found. It is great to be able to see who has read your threads, and when they saw them (to see if it's likely that they read your post within that thread).

Fior a site admin with OCD tendencies, it's an unbelievable tool to see where your users have been. By using phpadmin, or even just entering sql queries directly in admincp, you can easily see everywhere someone has been:

Code:

SELECT * FROM `whoread` WHERE userid = 121 order by dateline
will return all records of where userID 121 has been, in date order. You can then go to a browser window and type

and substitute one of the threadID's you saw in the SQL query for 21138. This makes me think that if someone has some free time, it would be a great addition to the admincp to create a panel that does nothing but this. From that panel, you could click on a username, and it would bring up a page with the list of threads they've visited, which could then be sorted by threadID, date, whatever. You could easily find out how people are navigating through your site, in order to make conscious decisions about how to streamline or improve that navigation.

i think this is a great mod -- no quesiton --

-- i originally had 3.0 and my board was running fine --

-- when i upgraded to this version, with its cron script, it disabled my rss autpost robot --

-- since i disabled this version and went back to 3.0, the bot is posting again --

-- just an FYI --

Loved this mod, had to fall away from it though, since no one ever looked at how many people read the thread, and didn't seem to effective.

Never had any problems with it, always worked great
:)

Paul M 02-02-2007 09:27 PM

How could you possibly know how many looked ?

YLP1 02-04-2007 05:44 PM

Thank you so much for this Paul. I was finally able to get around my initial issue that you helped me on a couple of months ago (I had more tasks than number of hours in my day to get all of them done) and installed this revision without a hitch! Awesome job! Thank you so much.

Great hack! I was wondering if it would be possible to add a function where we could see who voted on a poll. Not their answer but just who voted.

Would be really fantastic.

Thanks. :)

Paul M 02-27-2007 06:57 PM

Just make the poll public, or look via the ACP.

2meplie 02-27-2007 07:00 PM

Wow I didn't know I can check by the adminCP. Thanks Paul! :D

daddygrim 02-27-2007 08:34 PM

good hack!!!

manofphat 02-28-2007 01:27 AM

I would like to see it have a per-forum feature ;)

tehPARADOX 02-28-2007 04:22 AM

Another useful & nice looking mod, thanks!

p1a6u3 03-08-2007 02:11 AM

figured something out....i have this hack installed and couldn't, for the life of me get it to display..i have 3 customized skins, and none were showing the users who had read the thread let alone the the border box...so i went to the showthread template for each style and just saved them (after borking the board while doing, trial and error you know) and they appeared.....

*clicks* ~ install ~

Tom_S 03-09-2007 07:07 PM
