I've created a import script for cing vbglossay hack, is it ok to post it SS9267547 dude?
|
This hack sooooo ROCKS!! Good job. Thank you
|
-=Sniper=-: That would be wonderful if you could post that here for other users here to use.
bitg: Your welcome! |
Check out
http://hidigplace.com/vbb350/my-utmo....html#post2410 Look for the "Tribulation" and see what I mean. I have this wierd space after each link that leads to something in the glossary. See my glossary http://hidingplace.com/vbb350/glossa...stglossary&c=1 This happens in the forums as well as in the glossary cross-linking. Ideas? Also, the popup when you pring your mouse over a word that has a link to the glossary is very cool. Is there a way to show the first xx amount of words of the glossary definition instead of "Click on the link" text that is there? Maybe with the word "more" after xx characters have been reached? |
This is great addition to the art site,
I am going to do art terms dictionary. My question is: do you think that will be possible to let members to upload their images, because sometimes small image explains more than a lot of words? |
artpapa: At this time there is no option to upload images into the glossary. They can olny put in links to images that are already on the server or other sites. Not sure if I'd be able to add this feature at this time.
bitg: Can't see the first link you posted. Could you post a screenshot of the issue you are having? As for the glossary definition to show, I havn't been able to figure the problem out to have it show. At this time there are to many issues with it so thats why it just says 'click on the link' at this time. |
ss9267547, any idea why I can't see the text per this post?:

Clicks Installed :)
I think this is a great hack! I only have two issues: 1. I don't seem to be able to get the 'delete' option showing even though user 'permissions' have been set to allow deletion. 2. The alphabetical listings bar (# to Z) is not showing I'm using vB 3.5.1 Any pointers as to what/where I have gone adrift would be appreciated. Andy |
EasyTarget: Did you make any changes to the code or database?
bitg: You forgot to upload the image file. What should be loaded in that space is a (?). Andyf: I think thats a bug which I fixed for 1.1.3. As for the alphabetical listings bar, what page are you trying to look at? Got a screenshot or link I can see? |
Thanks SS9267547.
Have sent you an email with more details. andy Plese see attachment for parts not showing on Glossary home and search pages |
Andyf the reason there is no alphabetical listings on home is beucase that is just a category list so you'd have to choose a category to view. As for the search section I also didn't see why its needed there since you are after all searching for a certain word already :)
|
Ok SS9267547 the peny has dropped at last and the light has gone on!!
I didn't realise that the category name had to be clicked on to produce the whole list!! Sorry for being so slow. Thanks again for a great hack :) Andy |
Your welcome Andyf.

Where could I change the text color for the popup box only? (but if you think the problem is something else then I'll try that too) |
Thanks for this nice hack SS9267547. One thing I would like to see, if moving over the glossery term it should show the explanation of the glossery instead linking to the glossery.php. For example, if I have the glossery term "Starbucks Coffee" and in the descpription "Famous Coffee Shop www.coffee.com" this should be seen directly in the popup screen and allow to click to the link. Maybe it could be done in the options to enable this.
Thanks |
EasyTarget: If it is the text you can test it out by changing the background color of the tool tip by editing the 'glossary_crosslinking.js' file under 'tipbgcolor'. Right now it should be set to 'lightyellow'.
Ramsesx: I'm gusesing your taking about the crosslinking feature. If so at this time I can't show the description of the terms since there are too many errors at this time, mainly to do with smiles/html/images/bbcode which makes a mess of the code for the pop up. Thats why there is just a simple 'click here' at this time. Just havn't figured out how to display it yet, only been able to display plain text which has not been release for use. |

Right after any text that links to something in the glossary, there is an annoying blank space. How do I get rid of it? |
The space is there beucase your missing a image. Take a look at this screenshot.
https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/attachmen...0&d=1146632728 See that (?) image at the end? Thats what should be in that space. Now as for removing the image you'll be able to via admincp in the next release. |

On my other vbb messageboard, if I turn on Glossary Crosslinking, I get the following error when I try to display my glossary.
Warning: preg_replace() [function.preg-replace]: Unknown modifier 'F' in /includes/functions_glossary.php on line 49 What did I do wrong? |
With the image directory you can change it to whatever location you want by simply going to 'Additional CSS Definitions' and change the following:

The answer to you question is in the same post at the end. But I did forget to tell you that if you do get the error you will have to keep the crosslinking feature off until the next release.
|
Good job.
- Easy to install - works fine only one little bug in my opinion: the crosslink-function only works if a space is befor AND after the glossary-term at the end of a line or after a sign of a list it wil be ignored. But I can live with that  Many Thanks |

After the searching resold appears with the headed script, please look attachment.
Thanks. |
I thought I was the only one that doesn't read previous posts :)
|
Moerphy: That issue has been addressed with the next update release and it should now work by linking any punctuation at the end of any terms it finds, at least with my tests so far. :)
bitg: Yeah now only to find the time to finish it, things keep coming up at work so I havn't been able to get as much free time as I like. ;) artpapa: If its the html code that its spiting out after the search, it was been fixed for next release. dendrob: Lol, no your not the only one! Isn't that right artpapa? ;) |
very good
clicks intall i am waiting next version to using this. crooslinks not working in my board |
Thank you, SS9267547:
Is that possible to modify script in order to have something like this?: http://www.ffxionline.com/forums/glossary.php http://damn.that-sucks.net/glossary.php I mean: do you think it’s based on your script, or the coding conception is far from yours? |

Powered by cinq's vbGlossary :) |
artpapa: Yeah thats a different script that was released for vb 3.0.X series thats was free to download but now cinq doesn't have one up to download or buy anymore which was also planned to be released for 3.5.X just never did get to it, at least not yet. I'd message him to see if you could get it if your interested in his hack. Anyway thats why I made this hack since I could download he's lol.
BeaLzeBuB: You can still use the hack. Just disable the crosslink feature if it dosn't work for you. |
this looks just the hack for me, thanks man.
|
Dez_U your welcome!
|
Dear Lucas:
I think you did a great script, I already install it, and waiting for next releases, can I post some requests for future versions? Also I would like to ask if there any copyright specialists: Is that we’ll be OK to copy some terms from the different Internet glossary or dictionary sites without mentioning original source. Alexei |

i know but i have a different plan with this hack. i comes great for me;) when you fixed i try it |
artpapa: You sure can post requests and if I get some time and or think it will be useful I'll add them. :) As for copyright issues of terms, I'm sure you can use some terms as they are since there really can't be writen any other way and would be the same where ever you look them up, if that makes sense lol and then other terms you could always word them in your own words. This is something I havn't looked into much.
BeaLzeBuB: What are you going to try? |
