You can use the "old" installation and just alter the field: thread_fields_admin

ALTER TABLE thread_fields_admin ADD COLUMN
`required` varchar(10) NOT NULL default 'no';

Be sure to add YOUR vb-prefix, may be vb3_ or something other....

Copy the new files into the required folders...

All done!

Feel free to PM me with login details again. As the one you provided previously is no longer valid.

As for the mysql problem for users with 3.23 and below, i need someone with that problem to PM me ftp adn admincp access as well so that i can find a fix.

Thanks gio

The problem was that you somehow uninstalled the product, yet left the tables for the product installed. Meaning that the hack was still installed in your database but not on your site. Anyways, all is fine now.

bashy 03-11-2006 06:39 PM

I aint got a clue how it uninstalled m8....
All i did was import the product, thats how i install and update
all the hacks i have (and thats 1 or 2, ok lots then pmsl)

There is no way it could have uninstalled itself whilst importing is there?
I couldnt see it as thats never happened before....

This is strange i am the only admin so noone else could have done it either ..
I am totally baffled hence saying that i didnt uninstalled in my previous post.

The only thin i uninstalled today was one on developers hacks (top users stats)

Oh well, thanks for sorting it (nce again ;)) much appreciated!!

Cheers gio

gio~logist, please do us/me one favour...:

The original poster of a thread fills out the required "extra" fields but can´t change them after posting his thread?

So we use your mod in a selling area and the seller must fill in "price" and "condition". But he is not able to change the price after saving his thread in the forum.

Could we alter the script in this way?

Make sure that he goes to "edit thread" and not "edit post".

Thread tools >> Edit thread.

First, great hack... EXCELLENT WORK.

A question:
I would like the extra fields to show up under the title on forum display, but in the content body of the message in showthread. Is this possible? If so, how would I go about doing it?

Thank you.

Would you mind giving me an edited screenshot (using photoshop i suppose), that shows exactly what you want?

Hm. I'm not sure how exactly it would do that since i have no plugins in usercp. I will take a look at this.

RyanC 03-12-2006 02:33 PM

Sure. So an ad like this:

http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/s...ad.php?t=97969

(see how it is screwing up the title line in my style?)

I'd like it to look like the attached! Thanks!

I had disabled it and the error stops, that's why I'm thinking that this plug-in is giving the error,
maybe it could be an interference from other produc, I'll be desabling all the othere just to make sure..

**Attention**
This hack is now being released as a "Lite" version. All existing features are still there, do not worry. However, a premium version is comming soon and will have even more features. This hack will continue to be supported. The only difference is that a premium version is comming shortly with more features.

Is there a way to make the extra info in the threadbit display horizontally?

Yes. Just take out the <div> code from showthread_extra_fields

Found it in threadbit_extra_fields. There wasn't any DIV code in showthread_extra_fields.

Thanks for the pointer.....

Not a problem at all. It was just enough info to figure it out. I happen to like this look a little better:
http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=16

Now, if only I could enter more then 100 characters in the drop down box, that would be great.

Dennis B 03-12-2006 09:55 PM

Gio,

Any way to use the extra field descriptions in a more useful way, like when creating a new post? It seems that right now they're only used in the ACP. Is something like $threadfield[description] avaliable to be used in the templates?

Also, in the ACP, when showing the availabe extra fields to edit, the "go" button is not working (at least not in FF).

Thanks

Edit your mysql database accordingly.

$threadfield[description] can be used in a template :p I just didn't automatically include it because i didn't think everyon would want it there.

Dennis B 03-12-2006 10:11 PM

Thanks!

Also, how do I separate a little bit the radio or checkbox options? They're a little too tight there, it's not clear if the box refers to the previous or next text.

You'd have to edit the plugins themselves, search for the html in the plugin, and edit it accordingly.

lazytown 03-12-2006 10:42 PM

This sounds reasonable and I might bite as long as the "lite" version has bugs fixed in coordination with the "premium" version and doesn't get abandoned. More power to you.

Thanks
