Grrr, just read through 11 pages hoping that this would be a working hack. Ah well, back to doing it manually and hoping someone makes it automatic (hint hint VB).

cambridgedaz 08-08-2007 03:16 PM

I installed this today. Got it all working even if I did have to dig into phrase manager to change a few bits.

Question: How do I get the signature of the automatic member who makes the post to show?

ozmazdaclub 08-09-2007 07:54 AM

cambridgedaz - can you post what changes you had to make so to get it working?

ozmazdaclub 08-09-2007 08:11 AM

installed the outlaw621 version works manually - will check the cron job tomorrow

cambridgedaz 08-09-2007 08:22 AM

The picardtux version works good but the cron job posts an hour early. I am guessing due to daylight saving time adjustments. Just go into scheduled tasks and add an hour to the time.

Does anyone know how the code in birthdaythread.php could be changed to post in an existing thread rather than creating a new one each time?

Valter 08-29-2007 01:58 AM

This is not to promote my work but to help people who has problem with this hack. You may wish to try Auto Birthday Greeter. It's similar to this one but supported and has no known bugs.

Is there a way to specify it not to posts for certain users? I have some users that have not been on in ages and it's pointless to make a post about them if they hav ebeen inactive for a while

Yeah, in the AdminCP, there's a setting for this:

Quote:

Only active Users:
Set this to 'Yes' if you only want active Users to be listed.

I've just upgraded my test forum to 3.7.3 PL1 and whilst this mod still works, the time the thread is created seems quite random.

I've set the job to create the thread at 1:10am however the thread appears randomly.

Any ideas?

Andreas 01-17-2009 03:51 PM

I've added a new version (1.5.1) that is compatible with vBulletin 3.6/3.7/3.8

Icy 01-24-2009 08:29 AM

Updated :)

manning 03-02-2009 05:55 PM

Just installed on 3.7.4 and it doesnt appear to work - least not parts of it. ..

You can edit the title of the thread here.
To edit the message, click here - you can also edit the messagebits.
When I click on those links I get the following ...

No Phrases Matched Your Query

Also > Her you must enter the userid (not the username!) of the user that should appear as the starter of the greeting thread.

I inserted a userID but it doesnt save - when I reload the page the text field is still blank.

dianna 01-11-2010 03:34 PM

I had this on my 3.9 version and it worked great any idea if it works on 4.0?

kiwi1342 01-25-2010 01:05 PM

is this working on vbulletin 4.0?

thanks ;)

kiwi1342 01-27-2010 06:36 AM

I installed it with vbulletin 4.0 and it seems working but if I choose a user id to display the Author of the post it doesn't work. The thread is started by a Guest. Also in the settings menu the link regarding the editing message return a query error.

kiwi1342 02-25-2010 06:17 AM

no news from the coder? How do I fix this issue? I keep getting posts made by thi Anonymous user
