What did you change in the code? If you post it here, I can see where you went wrong.

It must have reformatted itself. They do that sometimes.

amykhar 05-23-2006 03:27 PM

Only in the UK. American made and operated servers never do that. :D

carmineroma " characters in your ad code will need to be escaped with a backslash so they look like this \"

ThorstenA 06-13-2006 04:40 PM

zooki 06-21-2006 09:16 PM

how do u get the colomn on the right of the archive pages?

thankss

lexx27 06-30-2006 03:23 PM

I installed the product and nothing changed in my archive.
I modyfied the plugins and inseterd my info and nothing changed...

Why?

http://www.akrovates.com/forums/archive/index.php/

amykhar 06-30-2006 04:47 PM

because you are using an usupported version of vbulletin. This one is for 3.5.4 and above only.

lexx27 06-30-2006 05:34 PM

That was the problem. Thanx!

Zowners 07-08-2006 12:41 PM

*installs*

Thanks a lot. I had a few problems, but I worked it all out :)

Give the attached a try...

induslady 07-18-2006 12:18 AM

Hi UK Jimbo,

I tried the attached version. But I receive the below error...

Parse error: parse error, unexpected $ in /home/induslad/public_html/forums/archive/index.php(254) : eval()'d code on line 18

Please could you help.

Thanks,

Induslady

ConqSoft 07-18-2006 05:33 PM

Sounds like you made a mistake when modifying the adsense code to add your publisher id, colors, etc. Uninstall, re-install, and look carefully at how the code is arranaged. (Using \ to escape ", etc)

induslady 07-20-2006 10:09 PM

Hello ConqSoft,

Thank you for your reply message.

I unistalled, modified the xml product carefully and re-uploaded. It works fine now.

Regards,
Induslady

GrendelKhan{TSU 07-24-2006 05:04 PM

which gives me the errors as seen here: http://www.clantsu.org/forums/archive/index.php

what'd I do wrong? :confused:

amykhar 07-24-2006 05:26 PM

You missed a bunch of quotes. EVERY internal quote must have a \ in front of it.

OR change the external quotes to single quotes.

The internal ones are the ones that are in the google code itself. The external ones are the ones in the first and last lines of the plugin code.

I am leaving the mod with the escaped quotes version because many of us use alternative ads in addition too google and the other ad code uses single quotes.

woot! that did it. Thanks!!

for reference:
I just change first and last lines of code in each plugin from:

$output.="

(to)

$output.='

(and)

";

(to)

';

......that's it!! :D :D *boy do I wish that was in the readme. (would saved a looot of time ;) hint hint nudge nudge. :p)

only issue now is the site search isn't crawling the site AT ALL. (0 results :eek: ). anyone happen to know why? :/

Aunt Clara 07-25-2006 09:49 PM

I followed the instructions, read the whole thread, am using version 3.5.4, and only changed the URLs and AdSense customer code and I am still getting an error message

Change the two plugins to use the adsense code for your site (instead of mine - unless you are feeling generous) and to arrange its positioning as desired.

Where do I go to change this?

Any reason why you're escaping all your quotes instead of using PHP heredocs?
They make it much easier to paste code in without having to escape everything.

PHP Code:

$output.=<<<OUTPUT
<div align="center" style="padding:4px;overflow:hidden;">
<script type="text/javascript"><!--
google_ad_client = "pub-CODE;
google_ad_width = 728;
google_ad_height = 90;
google_ad_format = "728x90_as";
google_ad_type = "text_image";
google_ad_channel ="123456789";
google_color_border = "336699";
google_color_bg = "FFFFFF";
google_color_link = "0000FF";
google_color_text = "000000";
google_color_url = "008000";
//--></script>
<script type="text/javascript"
  src="http://pagead2.googlesyndication.com/pagead/show_ads.js">
</script>
</div>
<table width="100%" border="0" cellpadding="4" cellspacing="0">
<tr><td width="85%" valign="top">
OUTPUT;

Unless there's some negative to using that method I'm not aware of?

bbcentral 08-22-2006 07:47 PM

Oh, where are my manners...
Great mod!!!!
Thanks Amy :D
It looks fantastic!
I have one tip for people, don't forget to create a custom channel called "Forum Archive" or something, so that when you generate the code for these ads it will track them properly. I get a lot of traffic on my archived pages, from people searching for information. But it can be really useful to know how much of your Adsense revenue is coming from the archive, and how much is coming from your regular forum (assuming you have ads there).
If I remember, in a few weeks I might post a followup here to show what percentage of my revenue came from the Archive, it might be useful information for someone.

blue_chi 08-27-2006 06:49 AM

Works fine on 3.6, great product. Thanks so much!

MajorFm.com 08-30-2006 05:27 PM

Installed on 3.6.0 and added my own banners:

http://www.majorfm.com/forum/archive/index.php

If you want to add your own banners, you simply have to replace all " with \"

agitated 09-03-2006 05:42 PM

Thanks for this amykhar. perfect.:cool:
Did away with the Google code and inserted banners, <h1> text and a couple of <a href> hyperlinks. Looks good, I'm pleased with it.

Caveman2k2 09-03-2006 06:38 PM

I'm having some problems with the layout of the ads. Please take a look at my archive Here
How can I fix this?

friendly 09-04-2006 09:27 PM

Greetings Amy!

I inserted the top and bottom codes for 3.6.0 but none of the ads show up at all.

Any ideas what could be wrong?

friendly 09-04-2006 09:49 PM

I folowed this post and everything's fine now. Thanks!
