What did you change in the code? If you post it here, I can see where you went wrong.

Parse error: parse error, unexpected T_STRING in /home/fastdri/public_html/forum/archive/index.php(254) : eval()'d code on line 3 Parse error: parse error, unexpected T_STRING in /home/fastdri/public_html/forum/archive/index.php(453) : eval()'d code on line 3 On 3.5.4 version |
carmineroma " characters in your ad code will need to be escaped with a backslash so they look like this \"
|

I installed the product and nothing changed in my archive.

Hi UK Jimbo,
I tried the attached version. But I receive the below error... Parse error: parse error, unexpected $ in /home/induslad/public_html/forums/archive/index.php(254) : eval()'d code on line 18 Please could you help. Thanks, Induslady |
Sounds like you made a mistake when modifying the adsense code to add your publisher id, colors, etc. Uninstall, re-install, and look carefully at how the code is arranaged. (Using \ to escape ", etc)
|
Hello ConqSoft,
Thank you for your reply message. I unistalled, modified the xml product carefully and re-uploaded. It works fine now. Regards, Induslady |
what does "(Using \ to escape ", etc)" mean??
grrr. .. can someone just post an full example of the edited plugins? amy always has great hacks, but the WORST readmes. heh (no offense amy, but you are always skippy on your readmes for us stoooopid n00bs. :() anyway her's what I was trying EXACTLY: archive header Code:
$output.=" Code:
$output.=" what'd I do wrong? |
You missed a bunch of quotes. EVERY internal quote must have a \ in front of it.
OR change the external quotes to single quotes. The internal ones are the ones that are in the google code itself. The external ones are the ones in the first and last lines of the plugin code. I am leaving the mod with the escaped quotes version because many of us use alternative ads in addition too google and the other ad code uses single quotes. |

for reference: I just change first and last lines of code in each plugin from: $output.=" (to) $output.=' (and) "; (to) '; ......that's it!! :D :D *boy do I wish that was in the readme. (would saved a looot of time ;) hint hint nudge nudge. :p) only issue now is the site search isn't crawling the site AT ALL. (0 results  ). anyone happen to know why? :/ |
I followed the instructions, read the whole thread, am using version 3.5.4, and only changed the URLs and AdSense customer code and I am still getting an error message

Any reason why you're escaping all your quotes instead of using PHP heredocs?
They make it much easier to paste code in without having to escape everything. PHP Code:

Oh, where are my manners...
Great mod!!!! Thanks Amy :D It looks fantastic! I have one tip for people, don't forget to create a custom channel called "Forum Archive" or something, so that when you generate the code for these ads it will track them properly. I get a lot of traffic on my archived pages, from people searching for information. But it can be really useful to know how much of your Adsense revenue is coming from the archive, and how much is coming from your regular forum (assuming you have ads there). If I remember, in a few weeks I might post a followup here to show what percentage of my revenue came from the Archive, it might be useful information for someone. |
Works fine on 3.6, great product. Thanks so much!
|
Installed on 3.6.0 and added my own banners:
http://www.majorfm.com/forum/archive/index.php If you want to add your own banners, you simply have to replace all " with \" |
Thanks for this amykhar. perfect.
Did away with the Google code and inserted banners, <h1> text and a couple of <a href> hyperlinks. Looks good, I'm pleased with it. |
I'm having some problems with the layout of the ads. Please take a look at my archive Here
How can I fix this? |
Greetings Amy!
I inserted the top and bottom codes for 3.6.0 but none of the ads show up at all. Any ideas what could be wrong? |
I folowed this post and everything's fine now. Thanks!
