What facts do you need to know?

Became an active part of the Community and release hacks, and you'll get the title coder automatically...

It's a BRILLIANT system. :)

I applaud Xenon for the idea. We've discussed on different ways of doing it - this way is the best.

Monkey Island!

*shrugs*

Anyhoo, I think the new usertitle system is better, but I don't think it's perfect. It can still give a very poor impression of the QUALITY of a coder's skills. Cos like... some really poor hacks get a TON of installs, simply because there is or was no real alternative for the longest time, and those hackmakers are now listed as Advanced (or even Master?) Coders, and imo unrightfully so (if they got there by a `poorly made but popular nonetheless` hack).

Ahwell, perhaps in the near future we'll be able to make this already great improvement just that little bit better? :)

Well, in this case, the "advance coder" title would be "unlogical" if they were an amateurish hacker that just happened to pick up on a really good idea for a hack, even if coded poorly.

I wouldn't say they didn?t deserve some reward for all the amounts of popularity derived from their hack.

It's only part of being a good hacker that you can code properly. The other half comes in being able to engineer a popular idea, that will attract large crowds.

The only real way to weed out who codes the best hacks? which would only ultimately leave in some disputes on the forum? is opening a public rating system for hacks. Where people don't just vote whether they have the hack installed, but rate the hack (perhaps on different criteria).

This sounds all too familar of what is being fought against though in the QA forum. ;)

Nah, you're dragging it out of context and proportion :p

My point was just that "Advanced Coder" does not necessarily mean "reliable coder", even though it does imply that....
