To get around that, you could create a third group that has permission to access both forums.

I'm about this close from switching from UBB to vBulletin, but my main concern is extra profile features. It's no picnic to add them in UBB, but its possible, and I've added an extra 12 or so. I'd need a way (either through control panel or hacking directions) to do the same here. Otherwise, I'm sold.

I really think that this should be integrated into the control panel similar to how LinksSQL's is... So many people want/need this feature that i think it should be at the top of your list of things to add...

and though I lack the skills to do it, it seems like it would be a simple enough thnig to accomplish.

add a profiles section to the CP, and set up an "altertable" routine for the user info table with a script to write the added fields to the profile template.

the admin could then adjust the template to show the field where they wanted it.

One of the reasons I've been giving this so much thought is that I want to add an upload procedure for custom icons and sig images, that way I can control the size and weight issues :)

anyway, someone tell me if I'm on the right track or not?

well, you would probably need to alter the mysql table for the new info.

so what additional hacks do people want ?

most of them in the posts above have already been taken care of or are on the -to-do- list for a future vbulletin release.

I would like to see a memberlist page where the members are listed in alphabetical order and you can view the top posters.
