I agree with all comments, I apologise for any statement I made that was taken as personal.

I know it may just be another board, that you register too and never or hardly ever visit till the hack is released, but... still be nice to join and ask questions, respond to posts.. etc
I agree see ya over there.

This size of this thread demonstrates the interest in this portal software.

I have tested it out on their site and can't see any problems other than it is very slow to render the page under Netscape 4.7.

I look forward to trying it on my (test) site soon.

Everything renders slow on Netscape, so that's a moot point... -_-;

VB 2 works fine with Netscape 4.7, UBB 5 works fine with Netscape 4.7. Most sites work fine but phpportals.com causes Netscape to freeze for about 20 seconds. Of course UBB 6 does the same...

No offense to the netscape fanatics.. and I know a lot of people use it, but I cannot stand it.. ever since I started with creating websites.. netscape has always given problems with my designs.. and yes I might suck.. but still :)

No it's not you, something tells me it's the Netscape, but it's just a hunch. -.-;

i in no way wanted to turn this thread into a derogoratory statement, or a flaming war. The stance that i took on the subject, was a respectful one of the person who has taken the time to create the hack, and thus shed some insight into some misconceptions.
With that being said, i am not going to even comment on any of your prior strikes at me centris.

This thread should end as a basic lesson to those who drag outside projects into vb's forums. All of this could of been settled appropriately at the portals site, which leads me to believe there was more to this than just a freindly request, however, that opinon will stay outside of this thread, and this forum.

My basic thoughts are, if there are problems, bugs, questions on the portal system, than by all means, post them over at the portal site, do not go running over here to post things that vb doesnt even support.

I think that this has gotten out of hand... Everyone needs to understand that this "Hack" will be released "Soon." We will see it when it is done... So far, we can see that it has come a long way... wajones was done an excelent job in trying to get it ready to release. BradC practicly spends every waking moment on his computer working on what he can to help out...;) We should be grateful that they are patient enough to do so...

Basicly, stop getting your panties in a bunch!

BradC 09-04-2001 11:58 PM

You know WebAddict is almost correct lmao..

even at work I can be found on vbportals.. and here... now that I have talked my operations manager into letting me work on php stuff at work.. *shhh* she thinks it is for work.. lol :)

well some of it.

and.. I want to refer to a quote "all good things, come to those who wait" ... as for what it has to do with this.. ummm just wait.. it will be out soon, cause I do believe wajones wants to move on with something else... :)

I am very glad to see a very big interest in this hack. I am sure wajones is too.. from the very beginning of his hack.. till now.. which is over a year+ old... it has grown by leaps and bounds and I am very proud to be apart of it in any way possible. And if I can help others out when I have the time.. then that is just icing on the cake.

Dunno what all the commotion is about.

For my money, vbportals is the best hack for vbulletin, bar none. Not that there aren't a lot of great hacks for vbulletin - I'm using many of them (stars, community update, etc - trying to get the avatar/catagories hack working now) - but there is no more complete a solution than vbportals. The amount of work that's gone into it is staggering.

If you want to see what a fully tricked out vbportals 3.0 beta (latest release) site can do, look no farther than my own Maximum Gamer. It's running 3.0 no problems.

That's not to say it didn't take A LOT of work, and help, and my own skull sweat to get it that way:) A heck of a lot more than any hack I have found here has taken. So I don't blame wajones for keeping it private testers only right now - the message board would be FLOODED. Heck, you should see all the posts in the contributing-members only forum right now. BradC is right. More of the kinks need to be worked out before it should go wide release......
