thanks for your answer!
can you please help me with that :)
I have to ad a custom field and then?

I have no idea. I didn't mean to imply this would be a minor task. Try Modification Requests/Questions (Unpaid) or Requests For Paid Services.

This mod works but it takes up to 50 min to get an email notification sometimes. Is there a cron job that is attached to this?

Videx 05-26-2012 11:16 PM

No, the whole idea here is that these notices are supposed to go out instantly. Of course, maybe they are and you just aren't getting them until later.

And with vb 4.2 there's now an option to use cron based emailing? So it may be that if you don't jigger that setting somehow then who knows (I haven't tried 4.2 yet myself).

This was the first thing my users wanted when I moved from UBBThreads to VB! Super!

Perfect, simple and very useful thank you

Hmmm I just installed this on 4.2.0 PL2 and subscribed to a forum as "Instant" and not seeing any emails once I start new threads in that forum.... Any ideas?

Also, if I subscribe to an entire forum/sub-forum, does this plugin only notify you of new threads? or does it also notify me of new posts within that forum?

Videx 01-09-2013 11:08 PM

I think it's designed not to notify you of your own threads since presumably you already know you've started a thread.

It notifies of new threads only. At that point you can use vb's regular subscription function to get instant notification of replies.

Tweak589 01-10-2013 07:30 PM

Yeah, that is understood. But if it only notifies of new threads then wouldn't that make the 'Instant' Notification Preference a bit inconsistent?

For example:

Users can choose "Instant Notifications by Email" only for threads to tell them of any new posts.

With this plugin, users will choose "Instant Notifications" while in a forum and it will only send them information on new threads. An unassuming user would think it would give them instant updates for anything, but it doesn't. Sure, it's logical that while subscribing to a forum it will only let you know of new threads, but I have users that need to keep track of ANY updates to ANY threads and posts inside a specific forum. And they are not replying in these particular threads so setting the automatic subscription method in their user settings will not help here. I would just like any updates inside a particular forum/sub-forum to be sent instantly via email.

Any solutions for this? RSS?
