It is neater BUT:

Users are more likely to skip over it, seeing how it's not posted by an ad bot ;).

FYI, for anyone that is only showing ads based on permissions in the vbulletin ad system, this is a better solution (in combination with the above css) so you do not show the box without an ad in it:

There's no sense in loading two sets of CSS for the ads unless you want them to look different.

under admincp > advertising >manage ads do you have permissions set for the ad in first and last post?

Its possible configure for appears in the second and 5º post (for example) on all pages?
I question this because, I have threads with 500 replys.
