Side effects?

- Bad eyesight as a result of looking at the monitor all day, used to have 20/20.

- Pale white skin from not seeing the sun for weeks at a time.

- Pains in my arms from typing too much.

- Speaking and thinking in code. ;)

- A caffeine addiction.

- Attempting to explain what I do to "normal people" and getting that puzzled look from them.

- Begin a geek in general...girls like +++++++s not geeks. ;)

Should I go on? I also suffer from Nintendo Thumbs.

I like those 3 ;)

I agree with you about all of it except for the part about being a geek...some girls DO like geeks!:D

Ever dream/have nightmares about coding/modding?:erm:

Not lately. Last two dreams I can remember were running from the law in a truck and begin in a war situation.

Yep.

What's worse is it was a genuinely good idea and I ended up implementing it the next day exactly as I dreamt it.

I post where I live and phone numbers online. There is no need to stalk.
If you come over bring a beer or a gun.

Fear is the mind killer.

This is me. I own a big dog but my addy is all over the place on my Dark Tower fan site.

I basically invite people to come see me

legionofangels 04-19-2008 01:11 AM

Yes I love your Dark Tower site btw.

Let's go ahead and add being IM'd at 5 am with your pc right next to you and sound on, because you fell asleep watching TV online and the volume is turned way up. Mind you the member IM'ing me wants a thread deleted and knows my time zone.

wtf??? seriously!! I just raised my head, looked at my laptop and shut the screen.

I have to disagree with you there as well...Geeks are no longer being seen as the outcast nerds of the 80s, new surveys show that geeks are the most friendly people around and folks like to stay in contact with geeks because of the level of knowledge etc...and guess what, geeks are the ones driving around in the BMWs, living in Cali and owning hot-shot enterprises...so be proud to be a geek.

I had someone subscribe me to a lot of porn magazines. Actually I guess this could be called a fringe benefit.

I enjoy most of my users, however there are some that irritate me:
- whiners! I really, really hate whiners
- users who think the forum is real life. I had a user banned recently for just three days and at 5 minutes after the 72 hours were up, he emailed my private email, my *husbands* email, and the site admin email asking why he still couldn't get on. (The Scheduled Task hadn't run yet.)
- users who come onto the forum and post a poll to change things. Sorry, if you want things differently, start your own forum!

Other things I dislike about being the site owner:
- server cr*p. I never realized I was gonna have to deal with servers so much. Our site grew pretty fast and we got put onto a dedicated server within 4 months and I was suddenly having to deal with it all myself. Ick!!!!
- being the only one who can fix things! No one else on Staff is interested in learning vbulletin.
- time, time, time! I never realized how much time it would take. And, even when I am not on the computer dealing with the site, it seems I am always thinking of a problem, or how to change things, or something related to the site or vbulletin.

Other than those things, I really enjoy running a site. I (and all those on Staff on my site) are happy to provide a site that so many users use and enjoy.
