As for me, I'll continue to support MS' products. Partially it's due to the fact that one of my family members is on the Vista coding team from the beginning (prior to that worked on their golfing game, 2000 and XP). More so because MS products have always served me well. :)

Maybe you have them disabled ;)

Umm...Nice try but no. ;)

I haven't had an operating system crash with Windows XP or Vista since 2004. And no the BSOD is not disabled. I've had programs eat all the resources in my PC (ahem Firefox) and cause processor lag but kill the process and it all evens out very quickly.

I have had crashes with Internet Explorer 6 and 7 under Windows XP. If you don't run them in their own process, they might take the operating system with them. But anyone who knows Windows will set them up so they run in their own processes.

I've had times where explorer.exe has crashed on me. If it doesn't restart itself you can always restart it via the task manager if need be.

The PC I'm on right now has gone through three major updates: 98 SE -> 2000 -> XP Pro. In all that time 98 was the only OS that gave me any problems (aside from minor issues with drivers).

Oh I'm not argueing with you on that one Wayne :) Windows XP can act like a total pain in the ass sometimes, and I generally format after a year because of the slowdown of gradually installing crap that clogs up system resources. Nevertheless, most blue screens are down to faulty drivers and defecting hardware. You'd have exactly the same consequence in linux, although I don't know how they handle bad drivers and hardware ;)

Or do what I've been doing and install an image software for clean and easy restoration. Unlike Windows Restore, there are no left files or registry to worry about. Error free installs and processes all the time; and if not a few clicks and your computer is restored back in good form. Only keep programs you use. I haven't had to defrag either.

I'll trust a fresh copy of XP over a third-party piece of software ;)

Freesteyelz 11-19-2007 07:16 AM

If Windows was the only software to run on your computer you have a strong argument. :)

Posting this from the iPhone - definitely very happy with it. The keyboard is actually much better then thought it would be. I am starting to type with two thumbs and it is working out pretty well. I'll post more about it later once I get a good go around with it.

Let us know how long you go before having to clean the screen. :p I'll stick to a real keyboard I think. ;)
