Hee hee...yeah, Milo, the big one with all the white fur is pushing 20 pounds. They only get fed once a day, and in strictly-measured amounts, so I dunno how he got so big.

Some cats are just big... two of ours are average about 10 pounds.. We have a little Calico Siamese who weighs about 6 pounds. Then we have Holiday (showed up on our doorstep 3 days before Christmas last year) and he weighs about 14 pounds.

I want to get a Maine Coon one day that would be able 20 pounds or more but would have to let my wife get a beagle dog and am not a fan of small dogs. There is a place in Northern California called "Isis Oasis" where they have some cats that are mixes between Maine Coons and Jungle Cats. They weigh about 30 pounds and have paws about 3-4 inches in diameter.

OH, yes, Wayne...I've always wanted a Maine Coon...they're HUGE!

Ish...I don't much care for small dogs either...had a Maltese once...yippy things.

Ok, question...you mention a Jungle Cat. Is that a domestic breed or like a real, wild jungle cat? I'd love a cat that big...if it was a good cuddler!:D

Jungle cats are not domesticated.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jungle_cat

However the cats that were able to roam the Isis Oasis compound freely were very even tempered and not aggressive or feral. The compound has the Cervals, Ocelots and feral Jungle Cats contained. Why they have cross-breeds with domesticated cats, I don't know. I don't think it was on purpose though because they would lose their exotic feline breeding permit.

Ooooh, thanks for linking me.:D

I perused that page and noticed Jungle cats aren't native to this country. Kinda seems to me they were imported and cross-bred intentionally. I'm not saying the Isis Oasis did this intentionally...I'm saying somewhere, someone over the years brought them here for that purpose...*shakes head in dismay*

Could be.. About 15 miles from my house is an Exotic Feline Breeding Compound where they breed jaguars, leopards, pallas cats, cervals, tigers along with other endangered cats. They receive animals from zoos all over the world for their breeding program. Now they wouldn't do this but they have a drug-addicted tiger there. The tiger is a rescue sent there by the DEA. It was recovered in a drug-bust and his previous owner kept him doped up on heroin to keep him docile. They can never breed him in the breeding program because they don't know his genealogy but they can give him a home.

My God...*sigh*...the cruelty of people never fails to astonish me. At least the poor creature is being cared for.:(
