OK dumb question time. Did you upload pollconfig.php? Did you set the path to your admin/config.php file correctly?

Try adding
<!-- This is a test comment -->
right after
require("pollconfig.php");
and see if it shows up on the page.

That was my mistake - put this instead:

echo("<!-- This is a test comment -->");

right after

require("pollconfig.php");

Try removing

<html>
<head>
<body>
</body>
</html>

from poll.php and see if that helps.
