You can't blame anyone, not much important that announcement.

Astronomers have used the Year-Month-Day Date Format for over 200 years.
  • 2006-02-04 (or '20060204' in program data storage)
  • 2006-Feb-04 (or '2006 Feb 04' without the hyphens)
  • 2006-February-04 (or '2006 February 04' without the hyphens)

I prefer, ie, removed 'Reply to Post' in the subject line of the email notification so the full thread title gets first precedence in my inbox.

Also having an email subject Title ...
Reply to post 'Administrative and Maintenance Tools - Adv. Editing Options for Mods and Admins'

...is a bit long winded and not very user friendly sifting through inbox eh what??

I use 060616-# (y;m;d) to file my digital pics to facilitate date sequencing/retrival.

I won't be around in the 22 century and I'm sure there will be another method of taking/storing /retrieving pics and posts.

... mods feel free to move date formatting discussion to whatever time zone you like ;)

Day Month Year is the date format used by the US military so anyone who has earned their citizenship will understand.

I have rules setup in outlook to move replies to posts to a specific folder ... if every site removed or changed this, it would be a pita. I am not happy that 3.6 changes this to update which is too ambigious.

But i guess that is a coder thing, easier to sort etc..

Yep. I've been using YYYYMMDD for so many years now that it takes me a second or so to follow MMDDYYYYY listings. I propose we start a movement to make YYYYMMDD as the international programmers standard. :D

Paul M 06-18-2006 02:46 AM

I don't think programming standards are really relevant to a date in a forum announcement that needs to be easily understood by everyone, and this is also getting way off the original announcement topic. :)
