If the product was 20 or 30 bucks I would understand, but for that much money, i think it should already be Unbranded.

It has options to not have links to their site here.

I will say this as a vBSEO license holder...the thread you link to shows NO way to remove their copyright or linkback, just to change the wording. Having said that, I'm glad I bought the product but would like to see the copyright removed for free as I do think the price is too high for non-brandfree.

You can remove the linkback! Don't believe me: http://www.mustangevolution.com/forum/

Bottom ;)

You can not remove the copyright however.

Like I said if the price is out of your budget so be it. It isn't out of mine. Apparently people are buying, I don't see how you can hold that against a company for pricing a product at a price that sells.

Let me ask you this to all the people that praise Dean's modification:

Can you provide me a link to your site using his modification?

I am in the process of creating a feature list of both hacks that way you can compare.

What made my mind up on VBSEO is this:

1) Takes me 5 minutes to install
2) Gives me one control panel to control all of my rewrites (inside and outside of forum directory)
3) Removes duplicate content
4) Redirects all old threads even when you change the name after installing this hack
5) Has a team of support personal that quickly answer my questions, instead of one person who has many hacks and other projects that take his time up
6) 150 dollars and this product is mine. 150 dollars may seem like a lot to you people but it isn't for something that gives me what I want above and is reliable. Something as important as rewriting the urls that people use to get to my site.
7) With one click I can redirect my archive thread urls to the actual thread itself which is much better than having a vanilla page for people to view.

Mainly support and ease of use sold me on this product. In my opinion this isn't something for new sites, this is something to put the icing on the cake after you have worked hard on building content and want to clean your site up.

They are also working on new features to be included as well.

I dont think the copyright is very legal. It seems like it could be misleading to someone lacking full knowledge of the software. It could be concieved as the content on the page is copyrighted by vbseo.

Thats my opinion. We are all pretty computer smart here so I doubt that mistake would be made, but some of the members I have would make that mistake.

The one I use seems clear to me.

Also people talk about the link back, if I recall it has a rel=nofollow attached to it.

Can someone with the link version of the copyright confirm?

That is due to poor leadership, though. :p

Yes but wouldnt the copyright be on the software (admin panel) and not the actual content pages. Since none of the content on that page is being brought to you via their software. Vbulletin is understandable as its their software that is providing a medium for the content, along with any content author's copyright. Just doesnt seem appropriate....

I see what your saying and that is a valid point.

Yeah besides that I see no problems with vbseo.
As far as price:
I dont think any car is worth 100k but some people do...To each their own and if someone wants to pay and finds it a value then so be it. I am sure there are people with phpbb that think we are idiots for forking out what we do for vbulletin.... We all work hard for our money and should respect each other's choices for how we spend our money.....

Now im going to buy more beer.
