Yes, you need to extract the folder locally, then use an FTP program (FileZilla is a free one) to connect to your site's FTP (use ftp.yoursite.com as the host, and the same credentials you use to connect to cPanel) and upload the contents of the upload folder to your site :)

When you say upload them to my site, do I open the upload directory and move the files and directories to the public_html on my server? Is it that simple or is there more involved?
Again, I am some what of a novice. I have installed other mods to my site and they were rather easy by comparison.
Thanks.

Some questions:

Does this work with no problems on vbulletin 4.2.1?

Does this mod slow down a site? I read with alarm from an earlier poster who said it did, and I didn't see a response from the developer.

Carpesimia 08-31-2013 02:03 AM

Can this thing block duplicate clicks by ip address? We have a need to count thanks on threads for a prize, and people are cheating by signing up additional accounts on the same ip. Need something to stop that from happening.

Bubble #5 08-31-2013 02:14 AM

There's a hack that prevents multiple accounts that works pretty good.

dougdirac 08-31-2013 02:18 AM

How much does the pro version cost?

DragonByte Tech 09-01-2013 04:08 PM

Advanced Post Thanks / Like v3.1.5

(vB4) Change: The profile tab now supports profile customisation
Change: Usability improvements for the profile tab

I'm just writing so say "thanks for all the fish!" (I have the Pro version). I'm leaving, with my large Forum, for XenForo.

Where do we find the drop down menu in post bit? We need to put the numbers to the side of the words instead of underneath them (see screenshot)

Also, where do we find the buttons for thanks, likes, and dislikes? We'd like to center that whole section. (see screenshot)

dougdirac 09-02-2013 05:17 AM

So what's the difference between thanks and like. Why would you use one but not the other? Seems to have both available would be a bit confusing.

Bubble #5 09-02-2013 05:31 AM

Thanks is more aggressive than likes.

black666 09-02-2013 02:40 PM

If you thank/like a post, the postbit dropdown doesn't work anymore. Looks like there is some javascript missing or something went wrong during the AJAX request. After refreshing the page it works again.

viliksar1 09-03-2013 12:08 PM

Properly be downloaded from FTP folder upload
And the others?

In which column in the admin panel, you should see this mod?

Disco_Dave 09-03-2013 01:55 PM

Looks like a nice mod! I have a wee issue though. I'm trying this on a test site at present, but I can not get the like, thanks or dislike buttons to display to give a user a thanks or a like. I've tried Button Management, but it's still not displaying?

ozzy47 09-03-2013 02:14 PM

So you have set up permissions for your usergroups in Button Management? Maybe try editing each button and saving and see.

Yeah I've tried that....It has me beat lol

ozzy47 09-03-2013 02:34 PM

You have a link to your test site?

OK cool.

ozzy47 09-03-2013 02:56 PM

Sorted, the buttons are now showing, seems they were set to disable in the DBTech - Post Thanks menu in the setting, Forum Manager.

I m currently using Ajax Thanks mod. if i install this mod then it will replace my all old thanks?

Nelson58 09-16-2013 12:55 AM

I downloaded and installed and it shows "Thanks" but not "Like". How can I change it in the Lite version, or is that only a "Pro" feature.

Thanks.

Unless you use the free importer to import them, they will not be included in this mod :)

Button Management under the DBTech - Thanks AdminCP menu lets you edit the permissions for each button - you may have forgotten to tick the Can Click box for the Like button :)

Advanced Post Thanks / Like v3.1.7

(vB4) [DBTech] DragonByte Reviews Integration
  • Allows for clicking buttons for Reviews
  • Displays after the "slider" images
  • Integrates with existing integration settings for easy control

Bugfixes
  • If a user was excluded from the mod, this would not remove the button display from the user's [DBTech] DragonByte Gallery images.
  • (vB4) The profile tab CSS has been altered slightly to better support profile customisation.

I like this. I think I'm sold on this feature. Members will love it.

dougdirac 09-26-2013 05:08 AM

I like this feature, but I don't like how it's formatted. It should be more integrated with the postbit instead of looking like another post that comes after one you're thank/liking.

The buttons should be part of the postfoot. The "who clicked buttons" should be in the after_content.

Any way to do that?

DragonByte Tech 09-26-2013 12:32 PM

The Pro version allows you to integrate the action buttons (and remove the text, so only the icons remain) as well as display the button bar above (or below) signatures :)

dougdirac 09-26-2013 01:55 PM

Thanks for your reply. :) Where can I demo the pro version and how much does it cost?

DragonByte Tech 09-26-2013 02:02 PM

We do not have a demo of the Pro version available at this time, sorry :(

We tried to run a demo forum once upon a time, but malicious individuals ensured that that was essentially impossible to maintain without severely compromising the security of our server and the legitimate users who wanted to use the demo forum.

You can find information regarding our products here: http://www.dragonbyte-tech.com/ (we're not supposed to post pricing information here on vB.org) :)

This is not working for me on 4.2.2 Alpha 1, checked all the permissions, the Like and Dislikes show up under the post however when you click on it, nothing happens. I reimported the xml couple of time with the same results.

DragonByte Tech 09-26-2013 08:03 PM

It works perfectly fine on 4.2.2 Alpha 1 :) In most cases, the reason why the buttons would not do anything is if the files have not been uploaded correctly.

Please ensure you're using an FTP program and not the File Manager in cPanel, and drag & drop the entire contents of the upload folder to the folder your forums are in :)

I use WinSCP, and after reloading the files again, still not working. not sure what to tell you. This is not my first rodeo at adding hacks to vb.

tbworld 09-26-2013 09:31 PM

Not sure this will be helpful in your situation.

I use a local test board, when I have problems like this. Having the server local allows me to see what the server response was to the client submit. I then add a php backtrace to the source script on the offending submit -- until I find where the application went wrong.

--------------------------------
Just in case :)

Check Dragonbyte's support site. You may find other users that have a similar problem.
Try not to run alpha software in a production environment.

If you do have a local server environment let me know and we can easily find out what is going on.

Good Luck

No live demo, but do you have a screen shot of this? Is there a website you can point to that's using this mod in this way?

ozzy47 09-27-2013 01:09 AM

The developers site is running the mod. :)

dougdirac 09-27-2013 04:55 AM

Thanks Ozzy, I see it now.

So looks like the the whole thing is tossed in the signature (after_content) area. I was thinking the buttons should be in the actual postfoot, like next to the "report post" icon (in the same line). Only the "who clicked buttons" would be in the signature area, and it should be collapsable.

tbroush 09-27-2013 07:25 PM

ok my issue after trying to reinstall is that the installation is getting stuck after Altered Table Forum, it has to be the post table which is huge. Anyway to get around the timeout?

Binoy 09-28-2013 09:58 AM

Hello,

I have installed this hack (lite) in my forum but somehow, I am not able to make it work. The install went successfully without any errors, but when I click on the "Manage Buttons" link in ACP, I am getting this error :

https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/external/2013/10/65.png

The thanks and like buttons are not showing up in any posts.

hellboundblogge 09-29-2013 01:08 PM

Hey There,

I would like to know how can I hide the content if user is not registered and user have not given the thanks?

Please let me know

Thanks

tbroush 10-02-2013 07:12 PM

Any help with the timeout issues?

Short of manually doing all the installation steps, you may wish to edit your PHP configuration to allow scripts to override the timeout - that way, you can leave it running until it finishes :)

Please try clicking Repair Cache and then try the interface again.

Enable "Can Require Click" for your usergroup, and edit the post in question using the Go Advanced form to "Require Thanks to see content" :)
