What error and where?

bryanb 03-12-2008 02:19 PM

I've been using this mod for quite some time now without a prob. Today I was notified by a member that she sees the "Thanks" button, but when she clicks it - it disappears yet nothing happens. There is no recorded thanks and her user name is not listed amongst the thankers. I'm wondering if it's a browser issue since no one else has reported this problem. I haven't disallowed her userID and she should have full thanking power. She's using the latest IE explorer and I'm using Thanks version 5.0 on vB 3.6.8 pl2.

Any suggestions on where to start would be appreciated. Thanks!

bryanb 03-12-2008 02:31 PM

After re-reading my post - I thought it wise to upgrade to the latest version - which I did. Maybe that had something to do with it.

It didn't. The member is still having problems. She sees the thanks button - clicks it - it disappears - and nothing...

VodkaFish 03-13-2008 02:39 AM

I have the looping error. The thanks button, along with the thanks section itself is looping every post on a page.

I have a large forum and busy one, I want to do some house cleaning, so if I remove this hack
how much do u think I save ? over 30,000 thanks. is there a prune available for thanks option ? you only have special actions : single id , is there a way to do all ?

drpeppper 03-13-2008 06:07 PM

Installed and rated =) thank you.

Quick question. As seen here and as my forums have a very "light" scheme to them. Is there a way to edit the the "bold" and the "font" for these to pictures?

""The following users Says Thank You to ETC"

I know I have tested this hack large forums and that this hack does not take up much resources.

Do you have vb3.6.7 installed? There will be a fix in the next version.

I'm running 3.6.8.

bchertov 03-14-2008 04:17 AM

I'm about to unsubscribe from this thread so I thought I'd leave some parting comments.

I've installed it in 3.6.8 and it works just fine! In addition, I offer my complements to Abe1 for an excellent job of implementing it, including to adhering to the latest VB coding conventions and standards.

So if its not working for you, I suggest you triple check your installation procedure. I forget if this has an auto-install option, but if it does, I wouldn't trust it. Just follow the steps in the installation instructions.

I hope vBulletin.com and vBulletin.org pick up this mod and implement in their forums, if it doesn't get wrapped up into the next version of VB.

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

Barry

carrlos 03-14-2008 05:53 AM

Excellent hack! My members love it. The only problem I had installing it is that the author assumes that the forum is in "/" for the post_thanks.php but I have my forum in "/forum". It took me about 5 minutes to figure out why it wasn't working but once I put that file in the right place, everything worked fine!!!

It's rolling per post on the page. So the first post on a page will have 1 (in other words, it works fine), the second has 2 (itself and the first), the third 3. By the 15th you have 15. It starts fresh on the next page.

ACP -> Plugins & Products -> Plugin Manager

There are 2 'postbit_display_start' under Post Thanks Hack. Click on each and stay on the one that is set Execution Order to 1.

Replace the whole thing with:

PHP Code:

    $template_hook[postbit_userinfo_right] = '';

$template_hook[postbit_controls] = '';

$template_hook[postbit_end] = ''

VodkaFish 03-15-2008 12:10 AM

Thanks, that was just what I needed, all other tweaks I was able to make on my own.

dancue 03-15-2008 06:54 PM

Abe,
How would I disable the data from the postbit and postbit legacy? I would like to just leave it on the profile.

Abe1 03-16-2008 02:18 AM

Version 7.3 (03/15/08):
  • Updated file: functions_post_thanks.php
  • Updated template: post_thanks_memberinfo_block
  • Deleted template: post_thanks_memberinfo_css
  • New option: Choice to use Markup Usernames or not. (Thanks to Namaless)
  • New option: Ban User from Getting Thanks
  • New option: Max Thanks a User can Give Per Day
  • FIX Fixed repeating bug on vb 3.6.7 forums.
  • CHANGE Changed where the post thanks info shows on the Profile Page. Moved to same box as statistics. (This will require a template edit if you are running vb3.7 beta 2-4)

Hello,
It's possible to colour users nick, who thanked (users display on "Who thanks for this post").
e.g. admin group -> red, mod group -> green etc.)

tnedator 03-20-2008 10:06 PM

Hi, I have version 6.3 of postthanks installed and am running 3.6.8 (patch level 2). Today I started getting the following error on a couple threads.

This is at the top of the page in orange or red:

Code:

Warning: Invalid argument supplied for foreach() in /includes/functions_post_thanks.php on line 183
Then this is in a "vBulletin Message" box:

Code:

Unable to add cookies, header already sent.
File: /home/tnedator/public_html/forums/includes/class_core.php
Line: 3075

If you go to this thread http://www.broncosforums.com/forums/...ad.php?t=11734 and click on the second page, the error occurs.

I see that "for each" errors have been fixed in some of the 7.x releases. Should I just upgrade to 7.3? Is there any issues using 7.3 with 3.6.8?

Any help would be appreciated.

Pirat3 03-21-2008 12:48 AM

On the post bit I want to changed Thanked X times in X posts to just "Helped X Members". and completly removed the post #, how can i do this

Lionel 03-21-2008 01:15 AM

this 7.2-7.3 version is really a pleasure to install. Are you planing to merge in the post groan the same way so we could use them both together?

Abe1 03-21-2008 11:47 AM

Version 7.4 (03/21/08):
  • FIX: Fixed Profile Stats for vb3.7.0 RC1 users.

Are there any thank boxes that show thanks that dont have any thanks in them?

oldengine 03-21-2008 03:29 PM

How do I shrink the postbit font size in the post_thanks_postbit section for $vbphrase[post_thanks_user_says]

I'd like it to be much smaller than the post itself.

EDIT: I found part of the cure in post_thanks_postbit shrinking the list of user names in the tag.
Code:

<div class="smallfont">$post[post_thanks_bit]</div>
Now to get that to work on the line, "The Following 2 Users Say Thank You" - I don't know what the hell I'm doing, but I did it...
Code:

<td class="alt2" style="padding:0px"><div class="smallfont">
                                <if condition="$post['post_thanks_amount'] == 1">
                                        <phrase 1="$post[username]">$vbphrase[post_thanks_user_says]</phrase>
                                <else />
                                        <phrase 1="$post[post_thanks_amount_formatted]" 2="$post[username]">$vbphrase[post_thanks_users_say]</phrase>
                                </if></div>
                        </td>

Pirat3 03-21-2008 03:38 PM

This is what I find:
Code:

post_thanks_thanked_post          Standard Phrase          Thanked Post
post_thanks_time_post        Standard Phrase        Thanked 1 Time in 1 Post
post_thanks_times_post        Standard Phrase        Thanked {1} Times in 1 Post
post_thanks_times_posts        Standard Phrase        Thanked {1} Times in {2} Posts

Which one do I edit? I want basically Thanked to turn into help and I dont want to show the # of posts thanked in.

hello all , plz help , i have probleme with post hack thank you , message warning:
Warning: Invalid argument supplied for foreach() in /includes/functions_post_thanks.php on line 222

atlambros83 03-21-2008 07:31 PM

lol this hack would really be helpful on vb.org......then we'd only have to sort through half of the pages in a thread to view feedback and get help. great hack, i'll bookmark it and add it to my forums later.

Yes. I hadn't noticed until you said to look, but one thanks box has no thanks, but says this: "The Following 4,294,967,295 Users Gave High Fives to BOSSHOGG30 For This Useful Post: "

petacat 03-21-2008 11:24 PM

Thanks for the updates.

We really needed the limits on giving thanks and being able to ban abusers of thanks.

Double dittos! I had dropped off this hack for a while, but all my users missed it terribly. Now that I can keep certain individuals from thanking EVERY post on the board, it's great!

Shannonx 03-22-2008 12:50 AM

OK, I just installed this on my VB 3.6.8, did everything in the instructions and the thanks button is showing just fine as is everything else, but when the thanks button is pressed, nothing happens (appart from the button disappearing as it should) until you refresh the page and the button is back and the thanks count doesn't go up.

Any ideas what I am missing out? I made sure I have enabled it in admincp etc. just stuck to what it could be missing.

Many thanks. x

Konstantinos 03-22-2008 07:56 AM

are there any thank buttons based on the vb2 buttons ?
