I've been using this mod for quite some time now without a prob. Today I was notified by a member that she sees the "Thanks" button, but when she clicks it - it disappears yet nothing happens. There is no recorded thanks and her user name is not listed amongst the thankers. I'm wondering if it's a browser issue since no one else has reported this problem. I haven't disallowed her userID and she should have full thanking power. She's using the latest IE explorer and I'm using Thanks version 5.0 on vB 3.6.8 pl2.
Any suggestions on where to start would be appreciated. Thanks! |
After re-reading my post - I thought it wise to upgrade to the latest version - which I did. Maybe that had something to do with it.

I have the looping error. The thanks button, along with the thanks section itself is looping every post on a page.

I have a large forum and busy one, I want to do some house cleaning, so if I remove this hack
how much do u think I save ? over 30,000 thanks. is there a prune available for thanks option ? you only have special actions : single id , is there a way to do all ? |
Installed and rated =) thank you.
Quick question. As seen here and as my forums have a very "light" scheme to them. Is there a way to edit the the "bold" and the "font" for these to pictures? https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/external/2010/02/91.jpg ""The following users Says Thank You to ETC" and https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/external/2008/04/54.jpg |

I'm about to unsubscribe from this thread so I thought I'd leave some parting comments.
I've installed it in 3.6.8 and it works just fine! In addition, I offer my complements to Abe1 for an excellent job of implementing it, including to adhering to the latest VB coding conventions and standards. So if its not working for you, I suggest you triple check your installation procedure. I forget if this has an auto-install option, but if it does, I wouldn't trust it. Just follow the steps in the installation instructions. I hope vBulletin.com and vBulletin.org pick up this mod and implement in their forums, if it doesn't get wrapped up into the next version of VB. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! Barry |
Excellent hack! My members love it. The only problem I had installing it is that the author assumes that the forum is in "/" for the post_thanks.php but I have my forum in "/forum". It took me about 5 minutes to figure out why it wasn't working but once I put that file in the right place, everything worked fine!!!

There are 2 'postbit_display_start' under Post Thanks Hack. Click on each and stay on the one that is set Execution Order to 1. Replace the whole thing with: PHP Code:

Thanks, that was just what I needed, all other tweaks I was able to make on my own.

Abe,
How would I disable the data from the postbit and postbit legacy? I would like to just leave it on the profile. |

Hello,
It's possible to colour users nick, who thanked (users display on "Who thanks for this post"). e.g. admin group -> red, mod group -> green etc.) |
Hi, I have version 6.3 of postthanks installed and am running 3.6.8 (patch level 2). Today I started getting the following error on a couple threads.
This is at the top of the page in orange or red: Code:
Warning: Invalid argument supplied for foreach() in /includes/functions_post_thanks.php on line 183 Code:
Unable to add cookies, header already sent. I see that "for each" errors have been fixed in some of the 7.x releases. Should I just upgrade to 7.3? Is there any issues using 7.3 with 3.6.8? Any help would be appreciated. |
On the post bit I want to changed Thanked X times in X posts to just "Helped X Members". and completly removed the post #, how can i do this
|
this 7.2-7.3 version is really a pleasure to install. Are you planing to merge in the post groan the same way so we could use them both together?

Version 7.4 (03/21/08):

How do I shrink the postbit font size in the post_thanks_postbit section for $vbphrase[post_thanks_user_says]
I'd like it to be much smaller than the post itself. EDIT: I found part of the cure in post_thanks_postbit shrinking the list of user names in the tag. Code:
<div class="smallfont">$post[post_thanks_bit]</div> Code:
<td class="alt2" style="padding:0px"><div class="smallfont"> |
This is what I find:
Code:
post_thanks_thanked_post Standard Phrase Thanked Post |
hello all , plz help , i have probleme with post hack thank you , message warning:
Warning: Invalid argument supplied for foreach() in /includes/functions_post_thanks.php on line 222 |
lol this hack would really be helpful on vb.org......then we'd only have to sort through half of the pages in a thread to view feedback and get help. great hack, i'll bookmark it and add it to my forums later.

Thanks for the updates.
We really needed the limits on giving thanks and being able to ban abusers of thanks. |

OK, I just installed this on my VB 3.6.8, did everything in the instructions and the thanks button is showing just fine as is everything else, but when the thanks button is pressed, nothing happens (appart from the button disappearing as it should) until you refresh the page and the button is back and the thanks count doesn't go up.
Any ideas what I am missing out? I made sure I have enabled it in admincp etc. just stuck to what it could be missing. Many thanks. x |
are there any thank buttons based on the vb2 buttons ?
