yeah i have a weird request and i been digging in the .xml and vbindex files and i am having no luck.

I wanna use this scirpt in replace of my news script. I don't want the navbar the welcome panel and all that. All i want is the news part of it. I don't know what to delete or how to go about doing this :/

I have already tryed and deleted mad code in the xml but like..nothing disappeared

Why not just create a php page that contains your information pulling from the database as all it seems you want is news? Probably easier than killing all lines of code. Just a thought.

well.. i don't know how thats the problem. ( i have a back up its all really nice code do doubt just i don't need it)

There seems to be alot of information that i worry if i remove will mess it all up. Like checking forum permissions and stuff i don't know whats its doing :/

Mine works if i vews just the code for the custom block...but it doesnt work when i view the vbindex page ...its just blank ...

hi all, ive download and installed this and it works fine on the default VB skin.
I have one other skin which is the Ambience skin, during the installation i use the full image paths EG -
http://www.project-a.co.uk/forum/ima...logo_white.gif ( for the default skin)
and this path for the Ambience skin-
http://www.project-a.co.uk/forum/amb...logo_white.gif

But when i goto save them and continue installing it just saves them without the 'ambience' folder, just like this 'http://www.project-a.co.uk/forum/images/misc/vbulletin3_logo_white.gif'

any ideas?

ive uninstalled it and reinstalled it again but everytime i save the image paths it just keeps looping round back again, the edits i make it doesnt save :(

Ok this is a more current problem than the welcome box. i am getting this error when i try and view it in IE..works fine in firefox but alot of ppl. use IE

Two questions. First, has anyone figured out how to edit the character limit on the Latest Threads (center block)? All of the thread titles are being cut short and I would like to retain more of the title. As-is it's cutting them so short it's difficult to determine the thread title.

This leads to my second question, this wouldn't be as much of an issue if the mouse-over popup gave you the entire thread title like it does on Forum Home. Instead it behaves like Forum Display which gives you the first few lines of the post itself. How can I change the behavior to that of Forum Home (popup shows entire thread title)?

Ideally I would like to implement both changes, so any help is appreciated. I searched this thread and on core forums to no avail :(

How can we get rid of the space between the news in the front page? I couldn't find the <br> anywhere

Between the various news items, or between the news and the Latest threads box or the Welcome Box?

I have 4 news to display, I want the news to stick together... who cares about the latest threads and stuff, just the $home[news] section...

You will need to edit your vbindex_newsbit template and your VBINDEX template.

I have created a table around $home[news] to house the threads.

Then I changed the vbindex_newsbit template so that one thread doesn't run into the next.

Change .core to .php

In vbindex.php find:

Replace with:

Quick question...I have some other items installed, Arcade, photopost, now I have all the links in the nav-bar on those pages, however, on the portal I can not get them to show.

I am assuming I need to mess around with the vb nav-bar template, however, what where exactly is the correct place to edit?

How can we duplicated the news section for another one below it... Lets say we want 2 news box, one that display the avatar and everything, hope you guys know what im talking about... Can you have a second news box with the same feature?

The news box will keep on duplicating itself so long as you set the parameters.

E.g. Let us say you tell the news box to call the news from forumid=10 and you have 2 threads in there. Then the news box will display the 2 threads. If you add another 3 threads then the news box will display 5 threads, one under the other so long as you have the total number of news threads displayed set to 5 or more. Once the number of threads in the forum surpasses the number you have specified then the news box will only display the 5 newest threads.

Does this make sense? I know how hard it can be if the language you are reading is not your native tongue. Let me know if I need to clarify anything.

What I was requesting is to have another news box, which is totally seperated from the previous one.

Lets draw out an outline:

News 1 = pulls thread from forums 1,3,4,5,6,7

*Some center block here, doesn't mater*

At the very bottom....

News 2 = pulls thead from forums 2,20,234,453, etc...
