Same error as your dude, just upgraded from 2.0 to 2.1 and for unknow reason they are all returning the pings failed when it was all working with 2.0 :/
Damn , again some hours to loose on a bug ...

//edit: the httpd/php logs are returning nothing wrong, cool..

Found the solution guys

had to change in my /etc/php.ini (no apache reboot required)


PHP Code:

allow_url_fopen Off to On 

I guess the ping method changed.

could you go in the AdminCP , at the bottom click "View PHP info" and the path to the php.ini is in the first lines, if you have no access to it I think you can build a new php.ini and put it in your wwwroot, else it's usually here /etc/php.ini , /usr/local/php/lib/php.ini
