Only IE is full compatible with the arcade i think

MaDCaT75 12-02-2003 02:16 AM

The arcade doesnt work with netscape I think

futureal 12-04-2003 07:18 AM

Yes, Netscape support is still on its way. 2.2 or later. 2.1 is just waiting on the last of PixelFx's work.

I was away for the last week and a half, out of town. Back now, and ready to rock some more. I'll take a closer look at some of these problems tomorrow.

SugarChick: I'd do anything for a date with a cute gamer girl. ;) (Sorry, couldn't resist...)

MaDCaT75 12-04-2003 07:19 AM

no, hit on me instead.... I'm prettier! :p

futureal 12-04-2003 07:20 AM

DigiKilla: I am not sure what happened with your install but it looks like something major got screwed up in phpMyAdmin. Make sure when you run the install queries that you are already working with the same database that your site is contained in -- it sounds like that might have been your problem.

futureal 12-04-2003 07:21 AM

madcat: I couldn't find your picture. :p

I know, I'm bad, I'm bad. Hey, you live in SoCal though! Home, sweet home.

MaDCaT75 12-04-2003 07:29 AM

whoops forgot to put it in

check now :)

futureal 12-04-2003 07:43 AM

edit: Nevermind, me dumb! Didn't know there was a member photo feature here.

I never knew so many attractive people were using this little arcade. :)

shamrox 12-04-2003 05:04 PM

any arcade hackers out there that can tell me why my topscoreboard icons suddenly disappeared and all other icons are there?

Here is a link:

http://www.shamrox.com/vbportal/foru...?action=arcade

Yes I know I have right click disabled. I removed that and it didnt help any since the images are php images - doesnt show the path/directory...grrr.

Anyone know how to fix this? Thanks in advance!

Limpkinw 12-05-2003 05:12 PM

This (above post) has happene dto me also aftre running arcade for a long time with no problems...now suddenly i have lost my icons.

Futureal is there any security updates you would recommend while we wait for next version? My users have found another way to post any score they wish.

PixelFx 12-05-2003 07:55 PM

I'm messing around with vbproarcade and vb3 gamma now ;) not sure if 2.1 is compatable but making for a fun project :)

I sent futureal my updates for 2.1 vb 2.3.3 :)

futureal 12-06-2003 01:40 AM

limpkinw: How is that?

PixelFx: It works OK, just some minor edits, and parts of the code itself has to be re-done to meet the new standards. But the functionality remains the same.

M?uschen 12-06-2003 03:57 PM

It is possible only to clear old scoures of scoureboard?
I dont want to clear the topscore...

Or can i limit how many scoures are show?

Please help... Thanks Mäuschen.

Wait, how would I go about installing the arcade on vb3 gamma then, since you've gotten it to work?

futureal 12-09-2003 01:06 AM

Mäuschen: I'm not quite sure what you're looking for. If you clear the arcade scores table, the top scores table will be preserved. So you could run the direct query:

DELETE FROM arcadescores;

That will clear the entire arcadescores table.

ENZcom: I am hesitant to release an install file since the version I have running is a very "in flux" design. I am kicking around the idea of putting something out on vbulletin.nl before RC1 arrives. There is obviously interest, so...

str8ballin 12-09-2003 02:49 AM

ok Installed the proarcade hack but my forums keep going down every nite, it takes 6 people playing games at once to overload the database..

heres what my hosts say ....

"Powweb currently limits users to 36,000 SELECT queries, per hour, per user"

What hosts are good? I wanna keep the proarcade, can you tell me what hosts you use how many people you have had playing games at once too?

That's a good idea futureal not only for the arcade. Hack authors could pre release it there to slam the last bugs out because it will be installed and used by enough people to find them quickly. ;) The result is stable hacks when RC1 is there and the hacks on vb.org will emerge.

Sadly I am not sure what they are doing...the only thing I can possibly think is they start a game and take the gamehash from that one and put it in their link. I really do not know what they are doing but I know a score of 566,666 is impossible in XC hehe.

Thanks again

futureal 12-11-2003 10:51 PM

str8ballin: 36,000 queries per hour per user? I don't see how the arcade could possibly consume that much, unless you were already running close to the limit and had a lot of games installed. That one really puzzles me. When the games are running, they are client-side, so it will not consume any queries on the server, only when scores are entered and, most significantly, when people browse the main arcade and scoreboard pages. In Beta 2.0, if you have many games installed, there is a nasty query loop that could consume a lot, although nowhere near the amount you are talking about, unless people are repeatedly refreshing the mini-scoreboards page.

NuclioN: I expect something to be released for Gamma in the last week of December. It will likely be on vbulletin.nl, although the "official" home will be back on here as soon as RC1 is released.

limpkinw: What do the timestamps look like on those scores? I suspect they are using some sort of memory/hex editing program, which would easily let you see and edit the gamehash variable and the score return variable in the headers.

BlackxRam 12-12-2003 08:43 AM

Hey Futureal.. theres a question i been meaning to ask.. i am playing the arcade.. i i am tied with someone for a top score. I got a top score at 38 seconds which i assume puts me in first.. he got the top score playing for 6 mins. BUT! I just played again and got the top score in 36 seconds.. but im in 3rd place. Why is that? This is happening all over the arcade.. people tieing in faster time but being placed in second.

Is there a way to sort it out so that if some one is tied it goes by TIME PLAYED?

Its getting really rough.. hehe

Good to hear it's on it's way futureal. :)
There are editors for swf around that can do more then just that and they let you replace the whole scripting if you like. There are countermeasures but this requires advanced coding. Online gambling games for instance have an outstanding security for flash. You can however block users out of the arcade who have a score that is impossible by placing a htaccess file in the games dir.

Fugler 12-12-2003 09:17 PM

Hi, most of the thing seems to work fine, but when I go to play a game the page loads but the flash bit doesn't.. Can anyone think why?

MindTrix 12-12-2003 09:57 PM

If you uploaded the games to say /forum/games/ then in the admin cp it will say /games/ change it too games/

Fugler 12-12-2003 10:53 PM

Heh.. I knew it'd be something simple, Thanks.

futureal 12-12-2003 11:20 PM

BlackxRam: That's a good point, I had never considered that when I designed it (that a faster time would be a better score). I will make that change in the new version, and maybe post something about how to fix it in the old one (should not be hard).

NuclioN: My understanding of advanced Flash security is that it requires server components that will not be available to the average webmaster. I will keep researching it, though...

PixelFx 12-14-2003 09:01 AM

Futureal
I sent you email with proarcade 2.1 template updates, hope this zip works this time :) sorry for delay :)

Qatarson 12-15-2003 12:48 PM

futureal

you made great hack but i think it is need important thing like the admin can edit the comments from the cp without need to use PhpMyAdmin & it will be great if you add a ban option in next version .

Also i want to ask you some thing i translate the interface words in Arabic coz my forum Arabic and every thing was ok unless these words i did'nt find it ( 2nd out of 7 users) where i can find to translate it & thank you again for the great hack :)

PixelFx 12-16-2003 07:15 AM

Sugguestion for Future Update:

Hall of Fame Hack, Records the Top Score for Each Game in arcade for that month, then at the end of the month wipes the main arcade. But keeps the hall of fame scores and users name.

This would cut down on database space... example below, while testing vbpro arcade for Futureal.

22 different users have played a total of 588 games, lasting a combined total of 171 hours, 27 minutes and 10 seconds

In the www.OrBSydia.com Classic Arcade

I've posted about hall of fame before, but I haven't had the time to make the hack addon my self. Anyone else up for the challenge?

solboy 12-16-2003 03:31 PM

Hi,

I like this hack.
I am running the vBulletin Version 3.0.0 Gamma and I want to know if I can install it in my forum.

Is it possible and what do I need to do to?

PAINTBALLM 12-16-2003 04:16 PM

this question has already been asked. They have to get the time to port things over to vb3 RC1. Be patient ;)

futureal 12-16-2003 05:41 PM

solboy: Patience, it's coming. :)

PixelFx: This type of system is already part of the next evolution of the arcade. I'm not sure if it will be exactly as you describe it, but it sounds pretty close. More on this later...

Qatarson: Good idea on the comment editor and the ban user option. Actually you can ban users now by putting them in a separate usergroup, but I suppose I could allow banning from within the arcade. I'll have to see how that works in vB3 to come up with the right system.

As for the words to translate, I'm not sure where they are, but I'm pretty sure it's in the templates. Check there first!

Sorry but this thread is over a hundred pages long.
When do you think RC1 will be released?

I will try futureal :D
I wanted to install this hack before Christmas as a gift to my members.

I must say that this arcade hack is off the chain.
Good wook.

trackpads 12-16-2003 09:05 PM

furtureal rocks ;-)

futureal 12-16-2003 11:58 PM

solboy: There will probably be a release of the arcade for Gamma, although it won't be on here. Probably on vbulletin.nl. As soon as RC1 comes out, I'll take it off there and move it back to here.

The timeframe should be something like the first week of January for that.

*~*E-DuB*~* 12-20-2003 08:51 AM

Just installed everything, and everything works perfectly besides this...

Fatal error: Call to undefined function: dotableheader() in /home/httpd/vhosts/hiphopdialect.com/httpdocs/forum/admin/proarcadeadmin.php on line 30

and all I did was just upload it from the zip folder.

how do I fix it?

Logician 12-20-2003 08:56 AM

@futureal: I think there is something wrong with the first query of "queries_to_run.sql":

The query
[sql]
INSERT INTO setting VALUES (null, 99, "vbProArcade Champion System", "vpa_champsystem", 1, "vbProArcade Champion System Enable/Disable", '', 0);
[/sql]

should be:
[sql]INSERT INTO setting VALUES (null, 1, "vbProArcade Champion System", "vpa_champsystem", 1, "vbProArcade Champion System Enable/Disable", 'yesno', 10);
[/sql]

Don't you think? Otherwise hack setting does not appear correctly in vb options page as it does not have a correct settinggroup id assigned (nor correct optioncode).

EDIT: himm nevermind, you dont control it through vb options page but in its own settings page so your query is correct. my bad. :)

Nice hack btw.. :)

*~*E-DuB*~* 12-20-2003 09:24 AM

Fixed my problem, seemed i didnt re-upload adminfunctions.php when i edited it!!..

futureal 12-22-2003 06:04 AM

Logician: Yea, I do that admin option thing in my own roundabout way. :) Thanks!

E-DuB: Glad you fixed it, sorry I wasn't around to help. Just drove back to California. Go me!

Oblivion Knight 12-22-2003 03:03 PM

[EDIT]
Nevermind.. I had a strange problem with my FTP.
