Works perfect as long as you follow the instructions here after installing https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showpost....postcount=1683

thx simon much appreciated

alehawk 02-23-2009 04:35 PM

Hi!
I added a link to a file that is allocated in other server and that when I download that file linked to mi site it will consume my server bandwidth as if it was stored in my own server.
Why?
It seems that my server fowards the linked file instead of downloading directly from the link.
Can that be fixed?
Tnx

Martyn1983 02-24-2009 04:56 PM

Do like this :)

Few queries - first (that I can remember) I've created a few test links...is there any way of putting the link description UNDER the image - by default it goes off to the right and squashes in against user profile. That's if you upload image, linking within the entry gets the desired effect tho :S

Cheers

obmob 03-01-2009 03:34 PM

You can edit your postib to look as you want, but you need to edit the html. Martyn1983.

About alehawk's problem, that's strange Oo

alehawk 03-01-2009 05:03 PM

The linked files will use or not my own bandwidht while the are being downloaded?

John69Steph 03-04-2009 04:27 PM

Sorry for my english, i'm french

I want to use LDM with vBSEO.

But i don't understand this in the htaccess

PHP Code:

#RewriteRule ^(.*)seo_title(.*)     /$1local_links$2

My forum is in the root folder

What can i write in this for me :

PHP Code:

#RewriteRule ^(.*)/local_links/links/c-[^/]+-([0-9]+)$                        /$1/local_links.php?catid=$2                                 [R,L]

Many thank's for your answer

obmob 03-06-2009 04:30 PM

Oh... I think there was info about vbseo somewhere, please search this thread.

It seems the wiki is down, it seems to be the end for LDM, maybe someone can get approval to follow the project.

Too bad, such a great mod. :(

I wouldn't say its the end, although Andrew has been very ill for a few months i have just noticed that his "Last Online" is March!, maybe the Wikki is down because he is updating it.

Andrew, we all wish you all the best!

Hello, guys!

As you know, I have not been well and it has not been possible to provide any help on this forum for several months. I have very much appreciated the good messages that many people have sent me - it really does help :). The news is that I am in the middle of a course of chemotherapy. It seems to be working but it has the side effect of making one feel very weak and unable to concentrate for more than a short period.

I do not know when I shall be able to resume "full time support" of LDM, but it is by no means a dead product. The big question is really *how much of a rewrite will be needed for vb 4.x* and what will the vb guys themselves provide. I have seen notes about major changes to the attachment system, which will surely impact on LDM.

Concerning the wiki, thanks to ObMob for pointing out that hackers had got at it. I had updated the mediawiki software a couple of weeks ago, and accidently left a door open for those delightful people to replace pages by links to nasty sites. I think it should be back in a fit state again.

So, please bear with me - I enjoy my hobby very much, and I do want to resume it.

vbboarder 03-07-2009 04:43 PM

Good to hear from you again Andrew! Wish you all the best for a successful treatment and speedy recovery.

You have a most detailed wiki, so there's no rush for you to support this mod. Besides, it's well written code ;)

I'll second that, it has to have been the most robust, stable mod ever....and the wiki is second to none. We all look forward to having you back to full strength soon Andrew.

It will be a shame if the VB guys change so much that this mod wont work in vb4, they won't understand what they have done, they should employ you to write an official and compatible add on or integration for vb4.

obmob 03-07-2009 05:14 PM

WOW... yeah, i read some hackers were attacking your wiki, sorry to think it was the end of the project. u.u

Thanks for letting us know you are a little better Andrew! ^^

nanaimobar 03-14-2009 05:40 PM

I agree with others best wishes for you Andrew. Glad to see you are back.:D

Is there any way to integrate a credit system tied to downloads and a subscription amount? This would permit the monetization of your great mod.

By this I mean a member purchases a subscription for x dollars, downloads have a price value, member downloads an item with a set value which is subtracted from remaining amount credited to member. Ideally, once a member reaches a set value left an email would notify them of x amount remaining and provide a link to subscription renewal.

I know this sounds complicated but I don't know if it is possible.

Gostemilov 03-18-2009 04:06 AM

Thanks for wonderful product.

Im using LDM since VB 3.5 and there are about 5000 entries in database.
Is it possible to autocreate forum announsements for all of them?

Thanks a lot

Sorry for my English.

I asked that same question to AndrewD once, and the announcements can only be created with the new links and not from the old one.

Gostemilov 03-20-2009 08:08 AM

Maybe external PHP-script? Smth like

PHP Code:

for i=1 to reccount();

sava700 03-20-2009 02:07 PM

Great setup here..but I'm running into a issue and was curious if anyone could point me to a solution.

I keep getting this when I try to upload a file

solution?

Gostemilov 03-20-2009 03:09 PM

Find
PHP Code:

<input type="submit".......>

in templates

Above it add

PHP Code:

<input type="hidden" name="securitytoken" value="$bbuserinfo[securitytoken]/>

The vbulletin people added these security tokens a while ago. I think LDM now correctly handles all of them, but if you have an old installation and have any customised LDM templates, there will be this problem. Check your templates.

Got the latest version of vB and no customised LDM templates since I've not done much with it.

Also, Gostemilov

which template is that addition supposed to go in? I did a search and can't find any matches to that first line.

sava700 03-21-2009 11:38 AM

nvm... skip this

readjono 03-21-2009 12:38 PM

Good to hear you're coping AndrewD. LDM is a masterpiece and glad I installed it :)

Don't you have any limits on your server config?

Maybe the images are too big to upload.

ccole513 03-25-2009 12:53 AM

I want to alter the td class for entries, but I can't find the location to make this edit. Does anyone know the specific sql table or template where said class can be found?

e.g.
Code:

<tr><td colspan="2" class="alt1"><table style="width:100%; height:100%;" border="0" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0">

Edit: I found the location > local_links_include.php

Hey Andrew -

Heard you're back, and hope you're doing better - chemo sucks.

I saw that the release 2.29 'works with' vb3.8 - is that a pretty solid assessment - I mean is it 80-90% or so? I ask as I have daily users, and depend on this product everyday for document downloads, etc - and don't want to risk the jump to vb3.8 (I'm at 3.6 now) if there are issues, etc...

Anyhow - best of luck to you - and thanks for such great work! :)

I ask others to correct me if I've missed anything here.

As far as I know (based on my own experience and the reports here), pretty well everything in versions 2.2.9-post3 and 2.3.0-beta1 works perfectly with both vb 3.7 and 3.8. There are a few minor fixes needed to the code, basically to fix the integration with user profiles and to make the 'human verification' checks work.

1) User profile support. For both the 2.2.9-post3 and 2.3.0-beta1 code, you need to edit two LDM plugins, as described by Simon Lloyd in this post:

https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showpost....postcount=1683

He says to change
PHP Code:

case "3.7"

to
PHP Code:

case "3.8"

in two places. You can also add the line
PHP Code:

case "3.8"

immediately after the line
PHP Code:

case "3.7"

Then the code will work with both vb3.7 and 3.8.

2) Human verification (only needed with the 2.2.9-post3 code):

In local_links.php, lines 1701 and 1819:

change
PHP Code:

if (VALID_VB_VERSION=="3.7") {

to
PHP Code:

if (VALID_VB_VERSION>="3.7") {

Ditto in local_links_search.php at lines 740 and 1014

anime4viet 03-25-2009 11:32 AM

is there anyway i could increase the amount entries on one page from 10??

Edit: Figured out thanx :D

sava700 03-26-2009 11:53 PM

Andrew can you help with this security token issue?

Gostemilov posted about adding something to a template but which one? I've looked through all of them and no issues. I've got everything up todate and can't figure out for the life of me this problem.

I can certainly try to help. It is easiest if you send me a PM with details of your site and a username and password which has admin privileges, and some fuller information on what you are doing to trigger this message. Otherwise, we will spend forever sending messages to each other.
